Chapter Seven & Eight

"Oh God! What do you think you're doing, Prince Lex?!" , Eve yelled while tightening the towel around her body. "I said what are you doing in my room?" , Eve asked again.

"You shouldn't talk to a Prince in such manner, young girl", Lex said and walked into her room.

" I asked what you were looking for ", Eve reminded him.

"Relax. I'm not gonna do anything to you - yet", He smirked and sat on the bed.

" I'm actually wearing nothing underneath this piece of clothing. So, could you in next time? ", Evelyn asked.

"Are you asking me to leave?"

" Yes", Evelyn replied without battling an eye.

"Do you know one thing I admire about you?" , Lex asked. "Your endless boldness", He spoke and stood up.

"You amaze me, Evelyn" , Lex said with a small smile. Eve sneezed and he turned his back.

"I'm not facing you. Change into your clothes", Eve eyed him silently and took out her clothes from the box. She took them along with her to the bathroom because she cannot trust the cunning follow in her room.

" What are you really here for, Prince Lex? ", Eve asked irritated. She was meant to sleep after having her bath and wearing the comfy clothes. But the Prince just decided to appear in her room to stop her from resting. In fact, she doesn't want to have anything to do with him or his sister. She wants to stay away from trouble.

"I want to ask you some questions. And don't you know that asking me so much questions are rude? I am your prince and you are...a maid" , He was quick to point out the difference between them.

"I must have thought otherwise. I spoke carelessly. Forgive me", Eve apologized to him.

"Apology not accepted", The Prince rejected her pleas. "But tell me, Evelyn, what were you thinking I was here for?"

Evelyn was speechless at that moment. She could not say anything because she doesn't know what to say. She just looked at him with an intense gaze.

"Ah! Don't tell me you think I have a thing for you because it will never happen. I don't hang out with mere maids", Lex spoke proudly. "Does your cheek still hurt? ", He asked.

" No", Eve replied quickly.

"I came to remind you of our outing this morning. Actually, change of plans. I was asked to come alone so you can play with your pathetic little boyfriend while I'm away", Lex said.

" Your opinion doesn't matter ", Eve muttered but Lex heard her.

" You have to go with me tomorrow for hunting", He announced to her dismay.

"Unfortunately, I serve the princess only"

"No you don't. I decide who you serve"

'He's just spouting nonsense. He's been wasting my time since he stepped into my room', Eve lamented in her poor mind.

The Prince cleared his throat and dropped the bombshell, "Where are your parents?"

They stared at each other but Eve broke the fixed gaze with a chuckle for some seconds, "Lady Elizabeth is all you need to know"

"Why her?"

No response.

"Evelyn?"

"I don't know"

"Who is your father?" , Lex pressed on.

"Lady Elizabeth is all you need to know", Eve repeated her her gaze steady on him.

"I get it", He raised his hand up in defeat.

"You should be on your way, Prince Lex", Eve said while draining the water in her hair with a towel.

"Yeah", He walked towards her and took the towel from her. "Allow me", He said and pulled her to sit on a chair. He began to cry her hair with the towel in his hand.

Eve was anxious and her heart began to thump loudly in her chest. Her hair began to glow too.

"Wow", Lex said with amazement.

Eve wanted the glow to stop but she was helpless. "Your hair smells nice", Lex sniffed her hair and smiled.

"Done" , He smiled and packed her hair into a loose messy bum with some strands of her hair in her face.

"Thanks. How do you know how to style?" , Eve asked.

"My girlfriend allows me to do that when I'm in the mood", He answered.

"A girlfriend? You have a -", Eve cut her sentence short and continued another one. "That's nice"

"I know. Pfft! ", He sighed and walked to the door and wished her good night.

"Good night, Prince Lex", Eve wished him back and he left. "Stupid prince" , Eve muttered as soon as he was out of sight. Meanwhile, in Lex's room, he laid on his bed and chuckled softly after hearing her insult.

The sun directed its days on the prince's face as she stirred in her sleep. She didn't want to wake up then. Not yet!

"Aargh!" , She finally got up and stretched her arms.

"Hunting is never my thing" , She mumbled in disdain as she stared at her hunting outfit and the clock beside it. "Thank goodness it's now nine" , She smiled and walked into the bathroom to have her bath.

"Good morning, Lady Elizabeth" , Princess Caro greeted with a bright smile.

"Morning Princess" , Lady Elizabeth greeted back and sipped her tea.

"You look beautiful, my lady" , The princess complimented.

"Thank you. You look beautiful too" , Lady Elizabeth blushed profusely.

"Oh! I think what my sister wants to say is that you look like a warthog. 'Beautiful ' is too good a word to be used for you out dear lady ", Prince Lex smirked as he approached the females by the table.

"Good morning to you too, Prince Lex ", Lady Elizabeth greeted the Prince while gritting her teeth.

"Eve!", Princess Caro shouted and looked around for her.

"Coming!!" , Eve shouted back and hurried down the stairs in her hunting attire. "Wow Eve. You look beautiful" , Princess Caro beamed with excitement when she saw her.

"You also look beautiful" , Eve complimented Princess Caro.

"Thank you", The princess covered her blushed cheeks.

The three are in ssilence while Lex and Eve exchanged glanced many times. "Can Eve be with me while I hunt?", Princess Caro asked.

"I'm afraid not", Lady Elizabeth answered.

"Then, you should be afraid she's riding with me" , The prince declared and pulled a grape into his mouth.

"What?" , The two females grunted.

"She stays with me", The prince repeated.

"But I asked earlier", The princess grunted.

"Em,em", The lady cleared her throat. "I'm sorry to disappoint you both. Eve would ride with the other children"

"Okay", Caro replied.

"That's good...for you ", Lex glared at Lady Elizabeth. They continued their meal and Eve went to meet the other children.

"Alexis", Eve called as she approached him.

"Oh, you know I'm alive now? ", Alexis frowned.

"You're always alive" , Eve laughed and Mandy chipped in, "I heard something today guys"

"What is it that you heard?"

"Actually", Mandy paused to look at their face. "I heard it"

"Whatever it is, just spill", Alexis was curious.

"Evelyn ", Mandy looked at her. "People are talking about you and Prince Lex. They said that he likes you and you like him too. Is it true? ", Mandy finally spoke out.

"What?!!", Alexis and Eve exclaimed in surprise.

"Is it true? ", Mandy repeated the question.

"What? No! No! That isn't true. I don't -I-I don't like the Prince. I hate him and you know that. I despise him, Mandy" , Eve responded.

"That's good because I think I love him", Mandy spoke with total confidence.

"Okay", Eve said and told them what Lady Elizabeth announced at the table about hunting.

"Stay close to me so a bear won't year you apart ", Alexis said and Eve pouted, "That's mean"

"Is it, Mandy?" , Alexis asked and watched her day dreaming of her crush - Prince Lex.at

"Stupid Prince" , Eve mulled to herself.

*PAA* The gun sounded for the hunt to begin.

"Yaa", Alexis shouted as he beat the best that was driving them.

"Stop Alexis!" , Eve shrieked. "You hit him too much"

"Aargh!" , Mandy placed her fingers on her temple. "It's a freaking animal, Eve"

"It-It has a life though"

"Whatever", Mandy rolled her eyes and focused on the angry Prince that kept a stern face.

Thirty minutea went by and they did not come across any wild animals. Eve was tired of the hunting. It was no fun. She had to watch Mandy that was always staring at the Prince and Alexis that would ask her the same question every five minutes, "Are you okay?"

"Look Alexis!!", Eve shouted with joy.

"What? You saw an antelope?", Mandy asked with excitement. Alexis quickly brought out the spear, bow and arrow to shoot.

"That won't be necessary, Alexis. It's just a cute bunny", Evelyn smiled widely.

"What bunny? I can't believe this Eve. If we catch a wild animal, we all know that that woman would be nice to us till the end of today. She won't have our time because -"

"Mr. Salvatore is coming"

"Mr. Salvatore is coming"

Manst smiled widely while Alexis bellowed and hit the wild beast to move forward.

"Oh no! My rabbit", Eve groaned with sadness.

"I'm sorry, Evelyn. But this is more important", Alexis apologized.

"Not now, Eve", Mandy reasoned and asked her to drop the topic.

Eve staggered backward and sat down while staring into nothingness. She asked a question in her lonely mind: Why did I come hunting with them?

She was bored. There was nothing that fascinated her at all. Everywhere was breezy, dangerous, silent and greenery. So, She was not excited to hear when Mandy screamed out of excitement, "We've got a big bear, Eve!!!"

"There's a big bear, a small antelope and a small deer. I think we should retire back to the starting point"

"Yes, please hurry up. I don't feel good", Eve complained and held her stomach.

"What's wrong?", Alexis asked her and beat the wild beast to move faster.

"I-", Eve turned to talk to Alexis but missed her stepping and fell off the chariot. "Aargh!! Help! Help!!!", Eve screamed at the top of her voice as she fell off. Unfortunately, the tall grasses overshadowed her and scratched her while falling off.

"Alexis!!", Eve screamed but could only see the chariot moving ahead. "Great! This is my sad ending. Oh gosh! I haven't done a lot of things. I haven't kissed my boyfriend. I don't even have a boyfriend", Eve slapped her head in realization.

"What?! So, I'm not gonna have children? His-husband? Me as a wife?", Tears began to form in her eyes as she started thinking about life.

She was there for five minutes and heard some noise behind her. "What are you doing here?", Her hope was crushed of Alexis as soon as she heard the prince's voice.

"I-I fell off the chariot", Eve answered him while looking at the grasses.

"How can you be so dumb?", He muttered and stretched forth his hand for her to grab. Eve hesitated to collect his hand.

"I have other things to you since you're waiting for your ugly boyfriend", Lex spoke rudely and Eve had to roll her eyes before taking his hand.

"Thank you for-", Evelyn jumped on him when she saw a huge bull with the blood on the floor.

"Get down!!", Lex ordered as he frowned at her.

"Wait! Let me just-", Evelyn looked for a more reserved space and went there to stay.

"Look! A white furry rabbit", Eve pointed at a small rabbit eating some grass quietly.

"I don't have time", Lex replied with a frown. Eve also returned the frown he sent to her on his face.

"Please", Eve begged when he wasn't giving in.

"What will you give me in return?", He smirked as he asked.

"What do you want?"

"Not know. I'll let you know when I want it ", He answered and went to catch the rabbit for her.

"Fine", Eve rubbed her stomach and stood up. She climbed off the chariots and her inquisitive eyes searched for a good spot to vomit. She was lucky to find one very soon. She vomited all that was in her stomach and had another round of vomit.

She felt a nudge in her arm and looked to see who it was. She rolled her eyes and collected the water bottle from Lex.

"Thank you Prince Lex", She smiled and rinsed her face with the water.

Lex looked at her and spoke nonchalantly, "You know you can always call me Lex"

Evelyn paused for a second to check if she heard very well, "What?

"Call me Lex, Evelyn", He repeated and avoided her gaze.

"Oh you want me to call you Lex", Eve smiled and laughed when she saw him smile.

"Did you just smile, Lex?", Eve laughed and he laughed with her. She had always thought he was a cold-hearted idiot but he was actually kind and fun to be with.

The journey to the mansion was a fast one and Eve was unsteady throughout the journey. The Prince is always an inconsiderate bastard. She slowly stroked the fat rabbit's fur in her arms.

It was so white and fat. Eve thought of a splendid name to give it. Oh yeah - Grumplex.

She stole a quick glance of Lex and sheepishly smiled to herself.

"Please, don't tell me you named that ugly think after me", Lex smiled.

"Oh! His name is Grumplex. I named it after your character", Eve replied and he scoffed.

"So, I'm grumpy", Lex asked.

He was looking at her intensely and she had to break the heat that was forming between them.

"Answer me, Evelyn", Lex said.

"What would you do if I said you were", Eve said.

"Then, I'll change…for you", Lex replied and Eve didn't say anything else. All she knows is she would remember him for some time to come.

"Get down", He was back to his stern voice instructing her to get off the chariot. She didn't hesitate in getting down.

"Hey! I was coming to get you but Mandy said you'll be fine. Glad you're fine, Eve", Alexis said after sighting Eve.

"Glad I'm alive. Really?"

"Sorry. My bad. I knew you were gonna live. I was coming to get your-"

Eve raised her hand to stop him and walked into her room. She sighed and dropped the rabbit on the floor. She sighed again and slid the shoulder of her gown down her arms and gasped.
