"Cute." One of the two ladies who were responsible for registering candidates said as she laid eyes on Roy, he was quite handsome and she was quite flirty.
"Maria." The other lady who appeared more serious and focused called out to her partner in an attempt to scold her.
"My name is Roy Hiroto, and I'd like to apply for the entrance exams." Roy said firmly.
"Roy Hiroto? That doesn't sound like a name belonging to a noble or royal family." The second lady, Hinata, pointed out.
"Yeah, I get that a lot." Roy said instantly, sensing the trouble that would emerge if they found out that he was actually a commoner. Luckily for him, the idea of a commoner partaking in the entrance exams was higly laughable. Not only would he be knocked out at the beginning of the exams, but he'll be made a laughing stock.
Because of this, they ended up registering him into the exams under the impression that he was a noble, after all they could sense his Soul-Energy and that was something they assumed a commoner is unable to have.
"Roy Hiroto, here you go." Hinata spoke, handing over to him a circular tag with a series of numbers imprinted on it.
"You are now exam candidate number 456, good luck." Hinata concluded as she called for the next person in line.
Maria on the other hand winked at him just as he took his leave, this made Roy think about what her actual reaction would be if she found out he was a commoner.
"Now that's over with, I better put this away." He said, slotting the circular tag into his jacket's inner pocket. A big problem could arise if an observant noble or even a royal caught him with a tag.
He ventured towards the entrance of the academy's gate, not planning on wasting anymore time. "Even though I'm breaking my promise to big mom by taking the entrance exams, at least I gotta reduce the punishment if she found out by not speaking to them." He thought.
"What's this?" A voice brought him back to reality.
A young man, cladded in a richly embroidered velvet cloak that cascades to the floor. Beneath it, a tailored tunic of deep royal blue features intricate gold stitching, accentuating a regal silhouette. His trousers are fitted and adorned with subtle patterns that catch the light.
A finely crafted belt cinches the waist, embellished with a striking buckle of precious stones. The man's feet are clad in polished leather boots, adding a touch of elegance to the ensemble.
"A commoner at the Heroes Odyssey academy? How unsightly!" He exclaimed, drawing attention to them. Unlike the nobles that attended to him at the registration center, royals paid absolute attention to one's clothing and overall appearance, enabling him to know that Roy was a commoner.
The young royal, Cornelius, is the son of Malverick the third, the supreme king of the Nile kingdom. There were several kingdoms which surrounded the city of Azarock which was located within the Mysthaven kingdom, Azarock became the foundation for the only heroes academy in existence, after all that particular city boasted powerful heroes.
"Tch, I can't let a scene happen right now, word might get around and given big mom's suspicions. It won't take long for her to figure out I am the one." He thought.
He walked past Cornelius, ignoring his remarks as he refused to make a scene, not right now.
"H-How dare you ignore me!" The prideful Cornelius proclaimed with fury, he felt highly insulted that a mere commoner had the nerve to walk past him.
"You will regret your actions you pitiful peasant!" He added.
"What's going on?"
"Isn't that Prince Cornelius?"
"What on earth could have possibly made him so angry?"
Questions arose from the crowd as they gathered round him.
"Behold peasant, a power you can never comprehend! Water Soul-Core: Jet stream!" Stretching his right hand forward, a blue energized circle materialized in front of his hand.
From it, a large stream of highly concentrated water was ejected quickly towards Roy.
Instinctively, Roy became alarmed, sensing the danger from behind him. This was a Royal's Soul-Technique and that meant it was a Grade 3, taking such a technique head on would be fatal.
However.
Utilizing his second technique [Heightened Agility], Roy was able to evade the danger behind him by turning swiftly towards his right.
"What!?" Cornelius exclaimed in disbelief.
His Soul-Technique [Jet Stream] cut cleanly in half, several trees that were situated at the front of the academy. Roy wasted no time in disappearing from the academy in order to avoid an unnecessary scene.
"Fortunately for me, no matter how powerful his Soul-Technique is, at the end of the day the speed of water will always be laughable in the face of electricity." Roy said in his thoughts as he tried to catch his breath.
"Did he just say peasant?"
"That means a commoner was here?"
"That's ludicrous!" Murmurs from the crowd arose swiftly after witnessing what had just occurred.
"Huh? A commoner was just here?" Maria spoke with disdain in her voice.
"We can never be too careful, do you think it was that Roy Hiroto boy? His name definitely doesn't fit the mantle of a noble or royal." Hinata suggested.
"I doubt, if he was a commoner we wouldn't be able to sense his Soul-Energy because he wouldn't possess it in the first place." Maria said, reminding Hinata how easy it was to identify commoners.
"You're right, we have to pay close attention now to whoever comes to register." Hinata concluded.
A total of one hour and thirty minutes passed by again and Roy was finally back in the Nikiru district. Panting at the fore front of the river they usually fetched water from, Roy tried to catch his breath.
"Oh? You look like you just ran several miles to escape someone." Approaching Roy from behind, Jin chuckled.
They decided on using the river as their next training grounds in order to not attract any more attention.
"What can I say, as a commoner we've got too many opps. Everyday is a survival game for us." Roy replied with a mild smirk on his face.
"I take it registration went wrong?" Jin questioned, a little concerned.
"Yeah, for the most part." Roy responded, pulling out his tag and displaying it to Jin
"Hehehe." Jin chuckled once more as his registration was successful.
"Now then, let's begin." With the exams holding the very next day, Roy would have to undergo a series of intense training. After all, the energy he sensed from Cornelius was not one to take lightly.
"Let's do it."
