Forcing her to do husband duties despite her condition?

Ch-39

Next day…

Laya woke up feeling a heavyweight on her. She tried to move but couldn't. Flutter opening her eyes, she realized Rahul was sleeping beside her and he engulfed her in his warm hug but the worst part was unknowingly he kept his hand on her burnt place which hurt her like hell.

"Hisss…" she made a sharp hiss sound. She tried to wake up but couldn't. \

[Why do I need to worry about his sleep? I don't care!'] she screamed in her mind.

Moving a bit she freed her left hand and threw it away, which immediately woke him up.

"Get off," Laya said in a cold distant voice.

How could she not be angry at this? This man was showing off his money yesterday and he threatened her to eat food. Can there be any arrogant person than him?

But she wondered how he climbed into her bed. This was a patient's bed. How could he climb it? She didn't like his attitude. He was mocking her last night but now… he was showing as if he was so caring. And now he shamelessly climbed onto her bed.

Rahul could feel the annoyance in her tone.

"Why did you climb onto my bed?" she asked.

"You don't remember what happened last night? You asked me to not leave you," he said.

"Don't makeup lies. And don't be a pervert! Climbing onto my bed without my permission in the middle of the night is cheap!" she yelled.

"I am your husband!" Rahul said but regretted it immediately.

Laya looked at him with her widened eyes. Tears pooled in her eyes as she stared at him. Her stare was slicing his heart more than anything.

"So, you want to use your husband's rights when I am sick?" she asked shocked.

She tried to stop her waterworks but she failed.

[Not now Laya. Hold yourself. Not now… stay strong.] she said to herself or more as she chanted like a mantra.

[But… still, I couldn't stop myself from expecting a bit of respect and safe distance.] she thought.

[Oh… Laya… what do you expect from this man? Hmm? We are married and it's been four months nearly. I will respect your wishes of not having a sec? Wake up, Laya. He is just like any other. After all, he is a man. And just see… after recovering perfectly… dad, mom, brother, and others would come and convince you to be with him and try to give their 'golden' advice to you.] her mini self said to her in her mind.

Sitting straight she brought her knees to her chest and covered herself with the duvet. She said nothing. The ward was silent as always. But his presence was bothering her. Can't she cry peacefully?

"Leave," she said in a low voice.

"I am sorry," he said.

"Leave…" she said.

"I am Sorry, Laya," he said.

"Oh! You will leave when you get to know when can you claim your husband's rights! Right? I am an orphan. No one comes to my aid even if I am killed. Why do you bother with anything?" Laya said sending another two stabs into his chest.

Rahul felt sad at her words but he said nothing. After all, he deserved those words.

Rahul and Laya didn't notice that Arjun was standing just outside the ward. He clenched his hand into a fist when he heard that Rahul was trying to claim his husband's rights with his patient wife. He regretted his decision to get her married to Rahul. At least, he should have informed her about her marriage and took this decision. He was a fool to think Rahul was a good guy.

He felt a stab in his heart when he heard her uttering the words orphan. He wanted to burst open the ward door and tell her, he was there for her and he would support her. But… he knew he lost that right when he gave her a devil husband.

He heard her saying… "As you said… you pay the hospital fee, buys food for me, and gonna bear me for the next years of life. Of course, you can do anything. As your wife… I have to please you and your family. I am grateful to you just like how I have been to the maternal family. Or let's say ex-maternal family," she said and everything turned silent.

Arjun could no longer have the heart to hear her word. He left the place wanting to have fresh air. She didn't complain all these months. She never told anyone. Even after she got slapped on her face, his parents said nothing to him apart from Abhinav that too he said after fifteen days.

He liked bathing in the warm sunrays of sunrise but he felt like they burned his skin. Durga came and sat beside him at the same time.

"I am searching for you everywhere," Durga said.

"What happened?" she asked. Arjun said nothing.

Durga knew he was in a bad mood. Getting from her seat she hugged him and he buried his head in her chest. Stroking his hair, she held him gently. After few minutes, he hugged her back.

"I made a mistake, Durga," he said.

"What happened?" she asked still caressing his black thick long hair.

"He is trying to force himself on her not caring about her condition," he said.

"What!?" Durga shrieked out.

She was surprised. She thought atleast Rahul was good but he was a beast too.

"How do you know?" she asked.

"I heard Laya's words and her angry shouts yet weak tone," he said.

"Then why didn't you go inside and beat him up! What if her condition worsens. You can't be this careless, Arjun. What if she faints, her hand is not healed. And she didn't have food for days," Durga said pointing all the loops against Rahul.

Arjun looked at her with wide eyes! How silly of him to not think this far!?

"Run, Arjun!" Durga's voice brought him out of the trance. And that's when they both started running inside the hospital from the hospital backyard.
