The Command

'What?!. What do you mean?. Why didn't anyone tell me?. Call in the records department. Now!'. The slamming sound of the telephone against its pad echoed in the Director's office.

Dressed in a black modern fit suit, light blue inner, black tartan tie, which appeared to be tugged vigorously out of place, and a deep frown on his face, the sheets in his hand came flying across the room. All the items on the table went straight off the table and like his anger was not satisfied, the chair behind the table crashed into the floor. Then it all ended.

'Damn it!'. Another slamming sound and a chattering, his apparent insatiable anger settled with a 'hmph'.

The door flung open and the lady behind it froze at the sight of the office. Her eyes trailed the floor, up to his shoes, his legs, his chest, and halted.

He was just about to rest his hands on the table when the door opened and she appeared from outside. He watched her keenly as she scanned the floor in surprise, fear, and disgust, took slow steady steps, and in the process, ran his full length from sole to crown. His eyes stayed on her as he studied her every move, but then she stopped halfway. He waited for ten seconds for her to continue her upward movement and look him in the eye or to hysterically ran out like prey from its predator. He waited and waited and was about to speak when.....

'S-sir, y-y-you are bl-bleeding'. Her stuttered words brought his eyes from her face to his right hand where some pieces of glass stuck in his flesh and blood dripped down the wound to the floor.

So that was what got her attention?!. His eyes went back to her and still saw her staring at the cut. If she wanted to treat it she would have gotten the first aid kit and not waste her time 'admiring' it.

He turned his back to her and picked up one of the sheets that lay scattered on the ground. 'You won't like anyone to come in uninvited, will you?'. He asked as he read the lines on the sheet.

Her mind came to order at that instant and she quickly closed the door that she had left open since she entered the room. She then sighed and walked up to him.

'Didn't your mother teach you to knock and receive permission before entering?'. He picked up another sheet of paper from the floor and continued reading. The first aid kit was far off and he definitely would not like her to see him treating himself.

She was lost for words when she heard his question but was it a crime to rush in when you hear sounds of items crashing against the wall or chattered glasses and you think that your boss might have gotten hurt.

'S-sir, I h-heard.....'

'Don't just stand there. Calling in the cleaners to clean this mess. Where are the reports I asked of you this morning?'. The blood had started staining the sheets on the table. He headed to the cabinet and got the kit not minding if she was there or not.

'Sir, Accountant General Tim asked that all the records and financial statements be retrieved in paper form and stored'. He removed the kit from the cabinet and walked back to the table.

'When was that?'  He asked as he tended to the wound.

'This morning sir'. Behind him, she took silent steps backward for fear of the boss she had. And as predicted his bandaged hand hit the table hard and she jerked out of place.

'All.These.Happened.This.Morning and no one told me?!'. The table flew right in her direction and in the very next second, she jumped out.

'Phew!'. Had she not jumped out, oh God, she would have joined her uncle in heaven. She held her hands together and uttered a few words of thank you to the Almighty.

'Sir, I thought you were the one that give the instruction'. He squeezed his eyes at her words.

Was Tim taking instruction from someone other than him?. Who was that bastard that wanted to cause trouble for him? 'Call in Tim'. She left the room at his command.

He started pacing the room. Let it just be that no one apart from Tim instigated that operation. Let it just be him and things would be easy. But why was he doing it now?.

He drove his hand into his pocket and brought out a mobile phone. Swiping the dial pad, he placed a call. 'Send a memo to the staff for an emergency meeting by 7 pm'. He kept the phone back and stared into space.

A knock on the door interrupted his thoughts. 'Come in'. Sauntering to the dispenser, filled his cup with water. Holding it to his lips, he gulped everything in one go and dropped the cup back. Taking out a wipe from its pack, he cleaned his hand with it.

'I got a call this morning that the Chairman and his daughter are on their way here. Tell me. Are you aware of it?'. Tossing the used wipe in the bin, he swaggered towards the person he had permitted entrance.

The man looked at him in silence. ' Yes. I am '. His straight answer hit the face of the man in front of him.

Now in his front with hands in his pocket, he tilted his face to the side and sized him up, then he brought it back to his face. 'Hmmm. So when Tim, if I may ask, did you get this information?'. He asked as he filled his questions into his eyes.

' The day before yesterday '. The petite, bald-haired man with a protruded belly called Tim, replied once again without remorse.

He admired his effrontery as he smiled at him.' The day before yesterday?. Hmmm...'. Like he was deep in thoughts, his hands supported his chin as he squinted his eyes. 'So it as yesterday then, that you got the command to store the records in hard copies?'. A smile was his answer and he clenched his fist. The feeling of distorting his face gushed through his veins, but still, he released it. Better saved for later.

He brought his hands to his shoulders and patted them before squeezing lightly. 'So my friend, would you mind giving me the details of the person that gave you this command?'.
