A Wife's Problem

The rest of the afternoon has calmly passed since Mei Ling's spouses ate lunch with her. Mei Ling continued her day as if it was her usual normal day.

As a disciplined soldier in the past, and a hunter now, Mei Ling has done her things methodically as if a robot that only follows a sequence of order.

She sharpened her knives, cut some trees to craft her arrows, fed her wolf dogs on time, and then sculpt some things that some fellow hunters she knew requested.

This is a boring and repetitive routine for her every day. If her comrades from the Farrow Federation are here, they will surely nag her again to change things up.

'But...something did change this time.' Mei Ling pricked her ears and could hear the grumblings of her new spouses from outside the house.

Mei Ling did not know how to treat her new spouse or interact with them. All she knew about relationships is from the fantasies of her fellow single comrades.

A comrade once said that marriage is a good thing for lonely soldiers like them, as it eases their hearts knowing that there will be someone to warmly welcome them home.

Upon hearing those words, Mei Li replied, "Comrade, we live on a battlefield. We're not allowed to go on a vacation within five years of being assigned here, you can't go home. And your engagement is called off once again. No one will welcome you warmly."

After that incident, Mei Li was reprimanded by her Captain for discouraging one of the best mecha operators in their squadron.

Mei Li learned to shut her mouth up regarding romance or relationships since then.

And no one dares to tell her their romance problems. Because they only get hurt by the realities her mouth speaks.

Mei Ling continued to make bamboo traps while having random thoughts when suddenly, a conversation inside caught her ear.

It was the voices of San and Rin, her spouses.

"Seriously, Rin? Why do you still wear that old dress?"

"You prodigal mer, being frugal has its merits."

"Just admit that you do not have any good dresses anymore."

"Tsk. San, you need to watch over your spending habits. We are now under our wife's rooftop, not the Ci House."

"Gah. Why must you make me remember that."

San pouted his pink lips, while Rin continued to click his tongue. One is a big spender, and another is a frugal pragmatist.

Han sighed. They just got settled in their new home and these two colliding water and oil are already fighting.

'I'm worried that our new wife will be annoyed.' Based on Han's view, their new wife doesn't seem to be a fussy person, but still, having her two newlywed mers fight for something trivial must be irritating, right?

Jin and Lin, the two least problematic mers stood side by side with Han, spectating the petty fight between the two mers.

"The two of them always quarrel when it comes to money." Jin clicked his tongue and brushed his pink hair with care. He gotta groom himself, after all, what if their wife suddenly wanted to bed someone when the night comes? Wouldn't he, the most groomed and proper, be the first pick?

'Ehehehehehe.' Jin started fantasizing, living in his world of imagination.
