Discovery at the great plains

A great light filled the long plains. Then soon the light disappeared leaving the young boy alone in the darkness, only dim light pouring from the moon.

The book of Dyre Lantern is a powerful one use item that is a one hit kill no matter what.

When used the spirit of the strongest man would appear and destroy the closest enemy,be it mob, boss or final boss.

Tyren took the artifact because of his fear of it. For his sake he wanted to get rid of it before it could be used on him.

Hee looked at the obviously old book, it was a gift to Owen when he was Oliver's age. It was on the outside a simple training guide. A gift from the strongest man to his son who was excited to become a warrior.

With a swift action Tyren grabbed all pages and ripped them all out.the cover of the book then suddenly burst into fire.

Tyren then dropped the remains of the family heirloom, and patiently waited. If there were no enemies near the book it would just burn out and disappear.

He stared at the burning pages and leather and waited patiently.

But suddenly a great white fire erupted from the remains. It grew fast and before Tyren knew it the fire grew to a dizzying height. then stopped and slowly shrunk and soon slowly took the form of a man.

The man made of flames stood there looking at the child before him. He stood before Tyren looking down at him.

Tyren of course knew of this man; it was Dyre Lantern, his grandfather and the only human who held the title of Strongest.

The eight foot tall specter made of white fire stood still for what felt like hours, Tyren tired from all the heartache and pain asked the giant of flames.

"What are you gonna tell me I'm a failure too?!"

Tyren screamed at the unmoving man of flame. He knew he wouldn't answer, if it didn't happen in his dream then it won't happen here, and it was sadly proven that his knowledge was absolute.

"I'm sorry." Said the burning man, this stopped Tyren right there and then. 'What, he shouldn't be able to talk?' All he could do in the game, would scream A war cry and charge at the closest living thing attacking you but he kept speaking.

"I don't know what happened to him, to become the man he is today. All I know is he's not the boy that I left when I passed.

Tyren stared at him 'how' he thought. But then it hit him, the player character, he wasn't the player character he was Tyren Lantern. The player was a nobody that gained providence through the game's story and had limited choices when it came to the story, but even if he was seen as a failure, he was Tyren Lantern and he wasn't forced with a choice system

"Who or what are you?" the boy asked "your grandfather, after i died i've been watching over our family and i've seen the moral degradation of your father. Now I guess it's my family now."

His grandfather was right. What once was sadness had grown into hatred and anger, but what could he do, while he knows how to get stronger but what could he do? He only had one last atlas stone and the clothes on his back.

"So what happens now, you're gonna stick around" having the strongest man by his side wasn't something he could complain about. But he felt he was not so lucky

Dyre shook his head "I can't stay, my spirit was contained in this book, now that is gone i soon will go too. Now I can only give you two things."

"And those are" Tyren asked to which his grandfather raised up a finger "First a new name your going to need one"

The boy looked at his grandfather his expression was not lost on the old spirit

"I'm going to give you a name and you can take it or not" the spirit looked at and around the boy for a minute. Then he smiled then said

"Beacon"

"Beacon?"

"You know like a lantern but better!"

The two looked at each other, the newly named child just nodded his head and said "I love you gramps" Tyren said with no emotion

"Look, use it or don't and now the last gift" the spirit said while holding out his hand. The white haired boy went to grab his hand. Dyre then pulled him in for a hug. The white fire that once covered his body disappeared.

Dyre had long white hair and a short beard, burning Green eyes that all of his descendants have, and a giant body that screamed strength "im proud of you Beacon, and I know you will great"

He said with the child in his arms.

Then he disappeared, Beacon was alone. 'What kind of name is Beacon?' he thought to himself. Opening his hand and seeing a small piece of the book spared from the flame, the last part of his grandfathers book

[you have gained the will stat]

"What! No it can't be that, it doesn't exist here does it? He said as he looked at the transparent box in front of him.

The status screen unbeknownst to the young Beacon had it the entire time but it was not from this world.'Could it have come with the knowledge of the game?' he wondered, but it truly was a boon with this he could go for what he wanted now. But there was another question in the air.

The will stat, this stat did not exist in the game and was the last thing his grandfather gave him, but Beacon had an idea of what it was.

"Okay my name isn't just gonna be Beacon". He thought for a second and looked at the scrap leather in his hand, then it came to him.
