Hel and the Emerald Sky City

this is a fantasy soulmates romance set in an Urban setting with lots of deeply traumatic backstories and many deaths on the way, in a magical ancient academy, and with one of the main plots being revenge. there are countless types of mythical creatures and all coexisting in our very world. ||| two new chapters per day at 10:30 and 22:30! ||| Torture is all I’ve known for two thousand years. Not because I’m the one causing it, which ain’t the case, but because since the old reptile, Dragon Queen Meredith Bloom and her daughter in law, Crowned Princess Philippa Bloom kidnapped me from my mother when I was 7 years old, and killed her in front of me, I’ve been treated like a material she absolutely despised but wanted to make a weapon with. All because I’m the bastard daughter of the Crowned Prince Russell Frederick Bloom, the “holy-golden-dragon” with my mom, a black dragon extremely powerful who worked directly with the Dragon Queen and King as the Royal blacksmith and stylist. Which baffles me even more is that mother and Russell were mates, but as dear grandma there didn’t want a black dragon to mate with her precious golden son, she terrorized my mom when she learned of their affair and made sure her son married a female golden dragon of high birth right away. That’s where Philippa Pepper Wreathers-Bloom comes into the picture. She got engaged to my birth father before mother could even have me, and as soon as she had me on the territory now known as New Zealand, she ran away to her family’s original territory on the Himalaya Mountain Range. Which is where she made her lair and raised me for 7 years, in physical age. That is, until dear grandma came and ended our short-lived happiness. Aye, key detail. Mom and dad were both dragons, of different founding clans but both dragons, nevertheless, I came out weird and I’m not a dragon at all, I’m something else entirely, though still in the reptile family. Which is another reason why Meredith tortured the shite out of me. If there was something she despises more than having a bastard in her perfect Royal bloodline, is having a bastard who’s an error in the system (not my choice of words, hers), something that’s only been heard in legends of the long gone old world. What are you then, Hel? I’m a serpent. But not just a serpent, I’m a gigantic black serpent with emerald scales here and there (which Meredith is to blame for), long and wide bat-like wings, with sapphire eyes, and silver sharp fangs full of a very lethal poison.

XVI ||| Fate is a Bitch & So Are You

Ah, Crone, why aren't you on my side?

"To think we would meet the monster here," the blue haired boy from before mocked and I glared him, as the seven vampires were blocking my way, and they were clearly taking care of Oliver's back.

"To think vampires also bark, here I thought that was exclusive for wolves, and dogs," I countered viciously, and they all glared at me, so, I glared back. "Will you get out of my way, or will we have to do this on the hard way again, vampire?" I asked as my eyes stopped on Oliver, who was all in black clothes that were hugging every bloody muscle of his body.

"You can't do anything against us!" The hottest of the two girls, with black straight hair, pale skin, freckles on nose and high cheekbones, straight black eyebrows, navy blue eyes, dark red lipstick on her lips, and taller than the other girl, came closer and held the blue haired hand.

I turned my gaze to her, "Do you know Cosmos Duncan is?"

She frowned, "Everyone does," she said matter-of-factly.

"Can you beat him in a fair fight?" That took her off guard.

"He's the Supreme Queen's right arm. A General," and?

My smug is pissing the off for sure, "Then don't even try to fight me, kid. You will only embarrass yourself and waste my time." Ignoring her, I turned my gaze to Oliver again, only to find the bastard already with his eyes on me. "So? Fuck off!"

"My name is Irene Manheimer, not 'kid'!" The gorgeous girl yelled furious, then she faded to be in front of me and punched me hard on the face but her fist was covered in glass… better yet… mirrors.

A scream left my throat not because of the punch, but because of the distorted horrifying reflex I saw in her fist. Automatically, my hands went to my face, ignoring her and her punch that hurt since it hit right on my left cheekbone, "Get away from me with that shite!" I yelled and again, everyone covered their ears with their hands, except Oliver.

["Hey, the mirror was distorted, don't let it get to you!"]

"No. No it was not," I yelled at him, using my telekinesis to fly back to the ceiling of the refectory. "I'm distorted, Jack. That's… that's why I'm trying to keep my memory intact, damn it. Ugh. I'm distorted. You saw me!" I yelled at him, ignoring everyone else and if they think I'm crazy or not. "Don't lie to me." I closed my eyes.

Feeling my anxiety take over me again, I took a deep breath, and tried to stead my breath, trying to control the anger that was trying to take over the control of my body again. I can't lose my shite. I can't. If that happens, I might end up shapeshifting, and that can't happen yet.

"And you said you wouldn't run from a fight," she mocked.

I let out one more scream of frustration, "Why can't you just leave me the bloody fuck alone?" I yelled, opening my eyes again, glaring down at her, seeing red with fury. "Can't you see the difference in power? If you keep this up, I'll have to put you in your place, vampire. It won't be cool!"

But my words that were supposed to a warning, had the opposite affect as they all got in a fight stance. All except Oliver who was still there standing and watching me, as if I was an exotic animal. And the fact that my body was still trying to go in his direction, disgusted me.

"Come down, you coward bitch," she yelled at me. "Aren't you supposed to be Meredith's mad dog and," I didn't let her finish.

In a second I was here, daggers in hand, fangs out, and… purple flame burning up in my hands, covering the daggers. And even Oliver gasped when I appeared in front of her, blade on her neck, "Say it again," I froze time, letting only me and her vampire group move. "Say. It. Again!"

["Hel,"] Jack gasped startled behind me. ["Calm down."]

"No, Jack!" I yelled, feeling tears of anger burn in my eyes. "I'm not her to listen to these fucking privileged kids call me fucking Meredith's dog. I will not tolerate it," I toned down my voice to a deadly whisper. "So, say it again, vampire. Say it again, if you dare. Didn't you want a fight, I'll give you one. But you won't win!" I pressed the blade tighter on her throat.

"Psychopath," she whispered, her eyes wide.

I grinned menacingly, "I can be one if that what you want, but I will not tolerate your bullshit, vampire. I warned you once, twice, thrice. That was more than enough. You provoked me, and now I am the psychopath?" I pressed the blade tighter, cutting softly her skin, and her friends stiffened.

Then, I felt a blade pressing down on my back, and even though I could see, I knew it was Oliver before he opened his lips, "Back off. If you don't back off, I won't answer for the consequences."

"Do it, vampire," I whispered. "I will only back off when she say it again. When she repeats what she told me. Where's your courage now, kid? Didn't you had the audacity to call me a coward? Shouldn't you prove that you are the opposite of what you're accusing me to be?"

"Take the dagger away from Irene's neck, beautiful, or I'll turn this dagger of yours into dust!" What?

In a second, I kicked her away, froze her and her friends, and turned to Oliver, done with his shite even though I only met him today. And when I turned around, his blade that was pressed on my spine, cut my skin from my back to the frontal center of my abdomen through the shirt. But I could not care less, as I pinned him down, my legs on the sides of his torso and my dagger that pressing on his throat. "Have you gone insane?"

Can you believe he smiled at me? "So, all I had to do to catch your attention for myself and make you leave my friend, was call you beautiful?"

I pressed the dagger on his throat, "Do not play with me, Oliver!"

His eyes widened for a second, "You called me by my name."

"What?" I frowned.

"It's the first time you didn't snob me and called me by my name, beautiful. It sounds lovely when you say it!" This ain't happening.

"I'm tired of your mockery, you piece of shite," I yelled, disgusted. "Don't call me beautiful, it makes me want to vomit every time you says it. Call me a monster, a beast, insane, even an orphan, but do not call me that. I'm not one of these air-headed females who will fall for your sugar-coated lies, so stop throwing them at me!"

And he had the audacity to feign confusion, "Where's the lie?"

"I'm telling you, Oliver whatever, to stop calling me that."

"Don't you have a mirror?" His words only hurt me more.

My vision got blurred, I pressed the dagger further, "Why do you keep trying to do this? Why do you keep trying to humiliate me?"

He arched his eyebrows, "What? How… how am I humiliating you, beautiful?" Why does it hurt more when he says it? Why does he pisses me off so easily? Why am I getting like this near hear?

I glared at his eyes, feeling my hazy with the tears of anger, "You will pay for this humiliation, Oliver. I will not forget your poisonous words and I will not forgive you. I've never gave you any reason to do this, but since the first second our eyes met in that bloody hall, you have been on my toes. Messing with me. Trying to humiliate me in front of others just for the sake of it. You won't get away from this!"

But before I could realize, his hand touched my bare cheek and I felt it, by how his eyes turned blood red instantly, he felt it too. The touch froze us for an instant, and in the next one, my time magic was undone, all of our magic was and we were both throw to one of the extremes of the room.

["Fuck!"]

"Fuck!" I cried, feeling everything shaking around me. I felt my body suddenly weak, and when I looked around, I found myself on my knees, blood still falling from the wound he had caused on my back, waist, and belly, and everyone was gawking in pure confusion from me to him.

When our eyes met again, even with the distance, I felt it. Like a thread between us, linking us together. And when he started to get up and head to me, I felt all of my warning bells scream around me.

"No. No! Stay away from me. Don't get near me!" I screamed at the top of my lungs and all the glasses around me broke. I struggled to get on my feet, and when I did, I absorbed all the natural magic around us to give me strength to ran from here. I felt my tattoos burning, recharging with the magic that was all around us, and I'm sure they could see it because the cherry blossoms began to glow through my shirt.

Before he could reach me, I ran as fast as I could.

Using all the magic I have to propel me further, I ran, doing my best to go as far as I could, ignoring everything and everyone else. I ran without really knowing where I was going, and I only stopped when I reached a no-end place with the hugest double wooden doors I've ever seen.

I opened them and ran inside, not caring about anything else. Only thinking of running, of staying away from him.

From my mate.
