Sorting surprises.

After we disembarked the boats we headed up the large stairs to the door of the castle. Meeting us there was professor mcgonagall. I had let the woman stay since she hadn't done anything wrong and somehow managed to keep the whole school afloat with just herself acting as deputy headmistress. She seemed to be doing quite well despite the fact that dumbledore was gone and looked healthy. Juggling head of house, deputy headmistress and transfiguration classes would surely wear a woman of her age down a bit. Madame marchbanks and myself had helped out a lot though along with proper fund managers from gringotts.

She lead us inside the school to the room near the great hall and gave us a speech about houses and unity and such and to behave or we could lose points.

All the students were sitting at the four house tables chattering on excitedly. Suddenly they all quieted down seeing mcgonagall. She entered a small room off to the side and came out carrying a nice looking black hat. The sorting hat had been properly cleaned and everything and was looking good. She placed it on a stool in the center of the great hall and everyone waited.

The hat opened its stitched together mouth and started shouting. "Usually this would be the part where I dazzle you all with my spectacular singing skills but this time I've been given a very important job. You see I've been given the job to inform you all of some nice changes that will be happening this year." The hat shouted as the teachers looked at it in shock and the children whispers excitedly.

"Due to the Heir of Merlin himself reappearing hogwarts has seen fit to reinstate the house of Merlin." As the hat shouted the tables were moved apart and a fifth table appeared down the middle with a banner that was gold with a silver dragon on it. "The house of Merlin shall accept all those with the traits of other houses from this day forth and I shall be the judge who decides." The hat shouted as there was an uproar of excitement.

"The castle has been remodeled to accommodate the new house and the location will be told later by their head of house. Coincidentally that's also me hahaha! I'm important all year round now bitches!" It shouted happily.

"Language!" Mcgonnagal shouted at the hat.

"Oh my bad! Well enough of that let's begin the sorting!" The hat shouted.

Mcgonnagal gave the hat one more glare before unfurling a roster of new students. The first person called up would be Hannah Abbot who was actually a friend of Sudan's. She walked up to the hat sat down and put it on her head.

A few seconds later the hat shouted "Merlin!"

She had become the first new Merlin house resident. Susan was gripping my arm in excitement to see her friend again.

She was the next one called up and the hat once again shouted "Merlin!"

She ran off to join her friend and talk with her.

After her was Terry Boot. He went to "Ravenclaw!"

Next up was lavender brown she was shipped off to "Gryffindor!"

Millicent bulstrode went to "Slytherin" after her.

Slowly the roll kept being called with all my girls being put into the Merlin house including one excited Hermione granger.

Neville was actually put into Hufflepuff. I figure that dumbledore messed with the results and wanted the spare hero the be in Gryffindor just in case. I was Put into the Merlin house alongside the girls. Me and the hat had a bit of a chat and I was eagerly waiting for the show.

"Ronald weasley!" The red head boy quickly rant up the the chair and plopped the hat onto his head when it shouted. "Slytherin!" With a great big smile.

The other weasley house members in Gryffindor looked at him In shock. I hear one of the twins shout. "A snake in the family and it wasn't us? great prank little brother!" Before clapping loudly.

There was a high pitched shout from the boy as he screamed. "No impossible! There's no way I'm a filthy snake!" He shouted throwing the hat on the stool and trying to run towards the Gryffindor table for what reason we have no idea. There was a flip of a wand from Mcgonnagal and he was lifted off the ground. "The hat decides where you go and also for your rude remark 10 points from Slytherin no go take your seat." She aimed him towards the Slytherin house table who were glaring at him and sat him down his robes had already turned into his house colors magically. I had also hit him with a sneaky silencing spell so I wouldn't have to hear him shout anymore.

After the last person. Blaise Zabini was sorted into Slytherin. I looked around and noticed I was in a house of only girls apparently.

"Due to their being a shortage of house members for now in the Merlin house they will be joining up with the Ravenclaw house first years for classes." The hat shouted before and owl flew into the great hall and picked it up before dropping him on my head. "For now you shall be this great ones noble steed!" It shouted from atop my head.

I just shrugged.

Madame Marchbanks slowly stood up from her chair at the table. "Well that was an exciting sorting if I ever saw one but I'm sure all of you are starving so without further ado let the feast begin." She said tapping her walking stick on the ground and making the tables fill up with food.

I saw both Narcissa and andromeda at the teachers table chatting with each other about the changes when Narcissa caught me looking. I gave her a cheeky wink making her slightly blush and then proceeded to dig into some French fries and bbq ribs. Delicious. I had made sure loads of my favorite foods were on the menu and the house elves were happy to oblige.
