Fortune Teller

After the phone call with my grandmother I felt really angry. Why was she so controlling?

Deciding to waste as much time as I could to annoy her, I decided to walk down the streets of LA.

The weather was very good today, bright and sunny. Summer was gradually making it way and I was glad, now I don't have to pay money to have my grandmother's front yard shoveled.

Trust me, I love my grandmother and she loves me dearly too but you'll get to love her when you know her more.

The street was bustling with activity and swarming with people, when it's warm everyone will be outside but bam! Cold comes not a single soul with be found.

I love how the kids couldn't wait for summer, everyone of them is already wearing revealing clothes just today that it only got a little bit warm.

I continued walking down the street and glanced at my wrist watch, I took a look again, maybe I didn't see clearly the first time.

Whyyy, I have only been walking for ten minutes and it felt like ages. Deciding to trace my steps back and go for a drive in my car instead I noticed someone glaring at me from across the street.

I quickly lifted my head to catch the person but I didn't see anyone staring at me, but why did it feel like someone was really glaring at me.

I surged it off, maybe I was imagining things, but deciding to play it safe I moved closer to the crowd.

Five minutes later I noticed someone was following me.

"Seriously, what is it? " I asked no one in particular.

I sighed, knowing my grandmother she might have sent one of her lackeys to follow me around and report to her.

Just in case you are wondering or confused as to who my grandmother is, she's filthy rich and greedy. Like seriously, I wonder how she accumulated such wealth without doing nothing. For as long as I could remember she's being retired since I was five.

Only few people knows of her real identity, she lives in a shabby looking house downtown never comes out and only goes to this really huge royal looking mansion once in awhile and that's where she holds her private or business meeting and I sometimes wonder the reason behind her logic.

Oh, I forgot to mention she wears a black veil when she's meets people and no one knows who she is. She's just insane.

I onced asked the reason behind her wearing a veil and she claimed she was still mourning my grandfather who died before I was born!

"Excuse me"

I turned to look if it was me the voice was calling out to.

A black dude with dreadlocks, tattoos and wearing an expensive looking gold chain was sitting under an umbrella with fortune teller boldly written on it.

I looked him up and down and didn't need to think too long as to why he didn't have any customers like his fellow fortune tellers.

"It's because no one really wanna hear the truth" He said

And I gasped "You can read minds?"

He chuckled "Calm down lady, I just know by your expression."

"Aah, you scared me there for a while"

Suddenly his smile disappeared "You are like an open book"

What? What was that look for, why did he look so offended.

"Why did you call me over?" I asked visibly annoyed.

"Don't you care to know what the future holds for you?"

"No thank you"

"Sit down please, I'm not asking for money or anything. I just need you to listen to me" He said seriously and that got me intrigued.

" Okay" There's no harm in staying, besides I was trying to pass time.

I sat and he went straight into work without small talks.

"Give me your hand please"

I gave him both hands.

"No, your left hand."

" But ideally you should read both hands, isn't that how it done? "

" Yes, but I'm not interested in your right palm, the left is what the gods give you and the right is what you do with it. So I'm not interested in your right hand because in your case you don't get to decide your fate" He patiently explained.

I thought he was going to explode in anger.

He took my left hand and started doing whatever they do. I wanted to ask him what he meant by in my case I don't get to decide my fate but I decided to patiently wait so as not to distract him.

Thirty seconds later, I had reach my limit.

"Umm, excuse me?"

No response

I decided to jerk my hand away but before I could, a huge wave of pain surged through my body and my vision suddenly got blurry it felt like my body was on fire. Next thing I knew, I was standing in front of weird looking creatures I couldn't make out. I looked down at myself and I was covered in blood and clothed in a weird attire.

Someone beside me spoke and I calmly replied. I wasn't sure what was going on but I was aware I wasn't me. I was in the same body as mine but it was like the real me was just an onlooker.

Then the other me said "It is decided. I lose against the sisters and I'm defeated."

All of a sudden I was back in LA in front of a weird looking fortune teller who was giving me a sad look.

I jerked my hand away " What was that? What trick did you play with me and how did you get those pictures in my head? "

" Worry about yourself Alora, you have little time left to enjoy the bliss of a normal human "

" How do you even know my name? You are crazy! " I yelled grabbed my purse and my keys and dashed towards where my car was packed praying to never ever see that creepy weirdo again.
