~Chapter three~

I never knew my lungs could hold a scream for that long. I didn't even know the high-pitched sound echoing through the room belonged to me until I saw my horrified expression on the mirror with my mouth stretched wide and eyes as wide as saucers. Not very manly I know but, what would you do if you woke up to find bright yellow eyes hovering over you with a smirk?

The thing above me landed with a thud to the floor, giving me the chance to quickly roll out of bed and grab the baseball bat which was laying just a few inches away from my bed.

I knew it would come in handy. Gripping the bat tightly, I cautiously made my way to the otherside of the bed where the yellow-eyed thing had landed only to find it empty. huh?

"Looking for me?" A voice whispered so close to my ears and i screamed, dropping the bat in the process.

so much for 'come in handy' Brian

When I finally picked my ass from the ground, A petite framed figure stood glaring at me whilst rubbing her ears and retorted sassily"Jesus, would you stop screaming like an old lady? You're hurting my drums."

"L-lyria?"I stuttered staring at the brunette.

"Hello Brian" she smiled brightly at me almost making me smile too but then I remembered she's a stranger currently standing in the middle of my room!

"How do you know my name?" I asked eyeing her cautiously.

"I have my ways." she simply shrugged, glancing around my room"Nice room"

"How the hell did you get in here and how do you know where I live?"

"You ask too many questions"she said gently caressing the small picture frame resting by my bed side with her fingers "You were a beautiful baby."

"Stop touching my stuff and answer my damn question" I glared taking the picture from her.

"Alright Geez, you don't have to be so worked up about it" she said rolling her eyes "What do you want to know?"

"Who are you and what the hell are you doing here? And your eyes, why the fuck are they glowing?...and don't you dare tell me I'm imagining things"I scowled.

"I wasn't gonna." she scoffed and said"Ever heard of the word Gobman?"

"Gob-what now?"

"G-o-b-m-a-n" she repeated spelling out each letter of the word as I stared at her dumbly."No" she sighed placing herself on the bed whilst muttering something within the lines of ''humans are so dumb"

"Alright pretty boy take a sit. It's story time." she said and pats the space next to her. I raised a brow at her as if to say 'you think I'm stupid or something?'

Catching onto what I was implying, she smirked and said "I don't bite you know...at least not hard" Then she winked. As cute as she looked doing it, I couldn't stop myself from rolling my eyes.

When I still don't move, she shrugged and said"suit yourself...So, a Gobman is known as the combination of two Very special magical creatures of different species and in my case, a goblin and a human."

"Huh?"I asked dumbly and she sighed

"I'm half human, half goblin." She stated

"Yeah." I let out a dry humourless laughter of disbelief."Do you have any idea how crazy you sound?" I asked staring at her in amusement. How can a girl so beautiful be so crazy? Charlie would be heartbroken.

"Yet you're the one who saw my glowing yellow eyes." She retorted with a glare and I scoffed.

"Yeah and you've just proven to me how stupid that sounds." She gripped her head and tugged harshly on it. I was about to make a comment on how she was gonna have a headache later when she turned to me with a mischievous glint dancing in her eyes.

"Fine, I'll prove it to you" she smirked standing from the bed and closed her eyes.

I rolled my eyes and said "what, are you gonna turn into a giant green-"My words got stuck to the back of my throat when Lyria's eyes suddenly opened. Her beautiful hazel eyes were now flashing a bright yellow, her ears got extended and pointy like those of a bat and her slender manicured nails now turned into claws

"What the...y-you're a Globerman?"i gasped tumbling over my words with widened eyes.

"Its Gobman Brian"she hissed displaying her fangs! Freaking fangs!"and we prefer the term halfbreed"

I swear, i stopped breathing for like 20 minutes. I couldn't form any words as my mouth kept opening and closing on its own accord. At a point, I just settled for taking large in takes of breath because WHAT THE HELL DID I JUST SEE?

"Brian pick your jaw from the ground and stop looking like you're about to pass out"she said breaking me from the shock. I turned to find her standing behind me with a smirk.

"How did you do that?" I frowned wondering how she moved so quickly.

"Again, too many questions" she giggled very creepily and then she disappeared.

"L-lyria?" I asked my eyes darting to every corner of the room trying to search for her.

"You can't catch me"I heard her creepy giggle from behind me and turned around but she wasn't there.

"Stop this shit and show yourself Lyria" I snapped. I heard a sigh and then a whoosing sound followed by a smug looking lyria now sitting criss cross on my bed"believe me now?"

"How the hell did you do that?"

she shrugged and got off the bed and rubbed her belly"I'm hungry"

"You haven't answered my question"

"Yes I'm aware" she rolled her eyes"but I don't function well when I'm hungry okay?I need food"

I scoffed"Where the hell am I supposed to get that, it's the middle of the night!"

"You certainly did not think of that when you were screaming your lungs out upon seeing me." She snickered"it's a wonder you haven't woken up the entire street."

"I'm glad you find this funny but there's no way I can get you food by this time of the night."

"Well then, I can't help you. Goodbye Brian" she said and turned to leave but I stopped her.

"Wait, I think there are some left over Chinese takeouts in the fridge. I'll go get them."I sighed and she beamed.

"Great, I'll come with you!"

"No. What are you insane?"

"Why not?" she frowned

"My dad could be awake"

"Pretty please?"

"No"

"With cherry on top?" she asked again pushing out her lower lips in a pout which made her look sorta cute.

'she's a goblin Brian!' my voice of reasoning reprimanded and that seemed to shake me out of that thought.

"Fine." I gave in "Just don't make too much noise" she smiled and nodded in understanding. I opened the door to my room slightly peeking my head through to make sure dad wasn't anywhere in sight.

Once I made sure it was all clear, We slowly made our way down the stairs, tip toeing all the way to the kitchen but Lyria accidentally stepped on the mouse trap on the floor letting out an ear piercing scream making me flinch.

I heard footsteps rushing down the stairs so I did the fastest thing I could think of which was shoving her down the counter.

Dad stormed into the kitchen in alarm as his eyes roamed around, trying to source for any dangers"What was that scream?"

"Er, that was me." I said biting the insides of my cheek trying to keep my composure"i tripped over the mouse trap and it caught my leg" Smooth.

"I told you to be careful, these things hurt a lot. Let me take a look" He said coming towards me.

"It's fine" I said too quickly and he paused for a second staring at me then I heard him sigh "Son are you still mad at me?"

I avoided his gaze and said"Dad, it's pretty late." Of course i'm mad but we weren't gonna have a private conversation when Lyria was just around the corner.

"Can't we at least talk about this?" he asked looking pained.

"Not tonight."I said trying to get rid of him. He nodded and muttered a "goodnight" to me then walked away.

As soon as I heard the sound of his bedroom door being shut, I motioned for Lyria to come out of hiding.

"You could have at least warned me that you have those death traps scattered all over the place." She glared

"Oh I'm sorry nobody warned me that I'd be having a goblin over for dinner either!"I retorted.

"Well sucks to be you" she said propping herself onto the kitchen counter with a groan "My toe hurts like a bitch"

"Maybe it'll hurt less if you didn't act like one" I rolled my eyes rummaging through the fridge to find the takeouts. I couldn't find them so i settled for two slices of bread and smeared some jam onto it before handing it over to her. Sure, she was glaring at me hard.

"I am not saying thank you"she said biting into the bread. Feeling the need to poke her I raised a brow and asked"You know what bread is?"

"I'm not an alien...of course I know what bread is" she rolled her eyes and I nodded leaning on the counter as she ate.

"So there's more of you out there?"I asked curiously.

"Yes but very few left now since the goblin king gave a wipe out order to kill every living half breed" she said kissing her teeth.

"I'm sorry did you say goblin king?"

"Well I sure as hell did not say Beyonce."she retorted and i shot her a look to which she said"Yes, I said goblin king, leader of the goblins. Can we proceed now?"

"proceed"

"Now after the wipe out order, the goblins took over everything even our cove and the rest of our kind which survived went into hiding for a very long time until, one half-breed-my father-learnt of his gifts and harnessed it, teaching the others how to control and master theirs too-"

"Hold up, why would the goblin king give out a wipe out order to kill the half-breeds when you are technically his kind"

"Firstly, don't you ever compare me with those formidable creatures and secondly, the goblins are pure bloods, they feel that are the superior creatures"

"So technically you are an abomination?" I frowned.

"For a guy who hates maths, you certainly do your calculations right"

"How do you know I hate maths?"

"I just know things Brian" she smiled creepily"Anyways back to the story...when the time was right and they all had mastered their special gifts, the half-breeds fought back and reclaimed their rights. But the goblins refused to submit claiming their right as the first true breeds.

"Dad, and a few half-breed elders joined forces with other magical creatures and together they created a totem of peace in the form of an amulet. The amulet was then entrusted to a guardian to maintain equity between the races."

"Guardians? There's more magical creatures out there?"

"Yes keep up. Guardians were popularly known as peace keepers. They exist to keep balance between two worlds." I nodded in understanding."but the guardian who the Amulet was entrusted to is dead."she said her face hardening.

"so where's the Amulet now?"

She sighed"No one knows and word is spreading fast about the dead guardian. which is why I'm here to find it before the other races come for it."

"And that is a bad thing how?" she smacked her forehead and then said"it was forged from the blood of powerful magnificent creatures. He who possesses it holds a massive amount of power. We're not sure how many of the races truly want peace so we can't let it fall into the wrong hands at least till another guardian emerges"

"Wow you've got a lot on your hands. Good luck with that"

"Thanks we're gonna need it" she said and I did a double take"I'm sorry we?" I raised a brow.

"You're gonna help me find it"

"Whoa, whoa, whoa I am not getting involved in this."

"You son of bitch, you are already involved" she snapped"Listen, if the Amulet is not found, we risk an outbreak of a magical war" she glared."And believe me when I say you do not want to be a witness to that. The humans will be at the losing end unless we do something about it."

I stared at her for a while with a raised eyebrow contemplating on whether or not to trust her. I mean do I even believe all this shit?

'Well she literally did turn into a yellow eyed creature in front of me so yeah'

"Think about your dad, mom, friends, family and everyone you know. They will all be in danger if we don't find that Amulet." she sighed defeatedly.

'she wouldn't lie about something like this would she?'

'i sound crazy'

'what if she is telling the truth? Will you be able to live knowing you could have done something about it but instead you did nothing?'

This is stupid but my voice of reasoning makes a strong point.

"Alright fine, I'll help you find your Amulet" i gave in and she nodded smugly"wise choice"

"We'll discuss more tomorrow, i have school later today and i need to sleep"

"Yeah but just one tiny problem" she made references with her hand letting out a small nervous laugh.

"What's that?" I raised a brow

"I have no where to stay." she said smiling sheepishly.

No!
