Prologue

~~Rose~~

I opened my eyes to brightness of the room. Blinking my eyes against it, I sat up to investigate the room. The bed was wide and soft under my body. The comforter was soft greys with red and pinks woven in rose petals. Over the bed was a soft, pink canopy that fell around it and hid me inside. Outside was a dark silhouette that I knew very well.

"Levi...?" I called out and received a dark chuckle as the person's body changed and reformed into someone else that scared me even more.

"Zayn..." I said, fear lacing my voice as I poised myself to scream, only to feel a hand cover my mouth.

"If you want your friends to live, you would stay silent."

I shook as fear overtook my body. Zayn put a finger to his lips as voices traveled outside the room. Just as quickly as the started, they vanished down the hallway. Slowly, Zayn's hand moved away from me and everywhere he had touched I felt.. dirty...

"Now, you will listen to what I say, or everyone here will die. Your father has given permission to kill everyone around you if you fail, do you understand, Rosalina?" Zayn asked, spitting venom at my name. I nodded my head rapidly, fear coursing through my veins.

"Good," he said as he got closer to me. I could feel his lips burning my skin, but I pushed myself to the edge of my mind, reaching for the cover of darkness to hide my heart and mind as he contaminated my body. For them I would do anything.

Even if it kills me in the process.

~~Week~~

I wiped away the blood starting to trickle down my cheek and ran back into the fight on the field. Training always ended up like this, all the trainees fight each other, but it was fun and the instructors let it happen.

They said it was a way to give us field practice. The rest of it found it a way to release stress.

I felt a tug at the collar of my shirt as I was pulled away from the fight and into the stables. The door slammed shut as I turned to the face of my sister.

"Enough. You need to release your grief naturally," she said, pain flashing behind her eyes.

"I am release my grief-"

"This isn't healthy, Week. Between Mom's death and the chance that Rose won't ever wake up, you're all over the place, fighting isn't help-"

"Back off, Elizabeth," I snapped.

"No, I'm your goddamned sister. I see how you work-"

I stood up quickly and was right in front of her in a split second. "I said, back off."

"-and you'll do this until you run out of steam and die along with them."

A loud slap rang through the room as Lizzie's head was thrown to the side. She didn't react to my assault, instead, she took to side-glaring at me.

"You have some room to talk, you are worse off than I am!"

She turned her head back and slowly backed to the door, as if her words shot her through the heart.

"When you're ready to talk and apologize, Xaphan," I flinched, "come find me."

With that, I was left alone.

~~Levi~~

I woke up with a slight scream. Another nightmare.

"Are you alright in there, Prince Levi?" I heard as the door opened revealing Naya, my nursemaid. I nodded at her and flashed a slight smile. It seemed to relax her and she backed out and left me to my thoughts.

Rose was unreachable again. She was slipping farther into herself, I could tell every time I saw her in the dreamscape. I knew she wasn't sleeping well anymore, and it had been that way since she broke through whatever they were injecting into her veins.

Michael made sure that I couldn't mention Rose, or anything at all. I walked over to my mirror and tried to speak again.

Silence.

Damn it.

I touched the fragile surface and traced the cracks in its surface. Evidence of Rose's presence in this prison. She shattered mirrors with her blast of power, yet that was the only trace left of her.

I shattered it again when they moved me to this cursed room, once belonging to Rose. I was almost free when he found me again and forced me into submission.

I was abused for three weeks after that.

I shivered at the memory stared at myself before feeling a tug at my subconscious.

Rose.

She was calling me.

Time to see her again.
