Epilogue

The fall of a 500-year-old empire was a tragic event and even the sky mourned, the clouds darkening and rain splattering all over the capital. Yet, it brought with it a sweet sense of relief, the knowledge that the lands were no longer plagued by monsters that would appear randomly and destroy lives.

It was something that should have brought joy but no one celebrated even as word got out that the Holy Emperor had been slain. People were happy but in no way settled. They were probably shaken by the death of their immortal god-emperor.

Most of them had been born during his reign and most died during it. To hear of Lyanor's fall was akin to hearing that the skies had fallen or that the ancient gods had descended.
