CHAPTER 3 WHAT ARE YOU?

NATHAN'S POV

After the dreaded fiasco that was lunch hour happened, it was time for my least favorite class, PE, now you may be wondering why do I hate this class so much? I'll tell you why, Mr. Hanson, the PE teacher, football coach, giant wall of pure muscle, who is also my math teachers husband. (YIPPEE) Again note the sarcasm.

Because everyone refuses to change while I'm in the locker room I'm forced to change in a shed out near the track field, I'm not even allowed to wait for the others to change so I can use the locker room.

They're apparently afraid I'd try to secretly molest anyone who might still be in the locker room.

Like just because I like guys I'm going to automatically, attack any shirtless guy that comes my way.

Anyway I changed in the shed and came back in, then I was suddenly startled by the blowing of the PE teachers whistle. "All right everyone! Today is a Free period day, so as long as you are doing some kind of physical activity you get a grade."

Just as he finished talking, the gym door's opened and the math teacher AKA our PE teachers wife came sauntering in, and the moment she saw me, I received the look of disgust that I saw daily,

"Hi babe, how are you?" Our, PE teacher said lovingly to his wife as she approached him.

She drag's him to his office, then a couple minutes later we all hear,  "King!! In my office now!!"

I nearly jumped out of my skin. The other students all had evil smirks on their faces. As I walked to the back into coaches office. I trembled as I walked, but I eventually found myself in Mr. Hanson's office. "Close the door." He said as he was seated with his wife in the corner next to him.

I did as told and closed the door, "You've got a lot of nerve doing what you did. Assaulting my wife?! Cheating on her test?!" He yelled at me.

"I didn't do any of that, she's the one who assaulted me, and I didn't cheat on the test I actually studied for it." I tried defending myself, knowing it would do no good.

"You little sh*t!! How dare you accuse my wife of lying!!" The next thing I knew he was walking up to me and I was suspended above the ground with his hands above my throat. His wife smirking as she watched her husband chocking the life out of me.

As I started slipping in and out of consciousness, I heard something odd, it was a melody that had no words but just pure song.

Something in me told me to sing and I did, the next thing I knew I was on the ground coughing, gasping for breath, and Mr Hanson and his wife were both backing away from me, he had her behind him like he was shielding her.

Her eyes were wide and she was slightly trembling. "What are you??" She shivered out.

I furrowed my brows in pure confusion. "Your eyes turned purple, a symbol appeared on your forehead. You started singing and some kind of energy pushed my husband back. WHAT ARE YOU?!" She yelled,

"I don't know what you're talking about." I tried reasoning with her. The next thing I knew my new friends were bursting through the door. "Nathan are you ok?" Sandra asked me as she and Maria crouched down to check on me.

They looked at my neck and saw the bruises, then immediately looked at Mr Hanson and his wife. "What's the matter with you people??" Maria asked as she scoffed while helping me up off the floor.

"That boy isn't human!!" Mr Hanson yelled, the others shared a scared look, but it wasn't from me it was more like they were nervous about something.

They masked it, and I'm sure Mr and Mrs Hanson didn't notice, they were too preoccupied with watching me but I saw it, it made me feel like they knew what Mr Hanson was talking about.

Just as I was about to comment the bell rang for the final period. "Come on let's get to our next class" Rex commented.

I went to the shed and changed then walked in to foreign languages class, unfortunately Mrs Hanson's brother was the teacher in this class. "All right class, today we are going to-" Just as he was about to comment what our assignment was going to be, the principal called all teachers to his office immediately.

Everyone was seriously confused. "All right stay here, all of you I'll be back." He said as he walked out his door and closed it behind him, all the students were muttering to themselves about what was happening.

Then I saw that Maria and the other new kids were chatting amongst themselves, I was still curious about the incident in Mr Hanson's office, it really seemed like they knew exactly what he was talking about earlier. So I decided to be a bit nosy and listen in.

I went behind a pillar to hear what they were talking about. "What are we going to do? There's no way we can keep a lid on this." Jake whisper talked.

"Are you guys sure this is what you guys are thinking it is?" Ryder asked,

"Positive, what they are describing is definitely the Saturn power. Though I doubt it was the full power, we'd have sensed it immediately if it was, it was probably some kind of physical reaction, his body sensed danger. From the bruising on his neck, I'd say whatever it was saved his life. The teacher probably would have killed him if his power didn't activate when it did." Sandra said.

Power?! What power? And what's all this about Saturn? Are they talking about the planet saturn? What are they aliens or something? This only confirmed my suspicion that they knew something about me that apparently I didn't even know.

"One things for sure though, the moment his exact time of birth today is when his powers will fully awaken. Even though we couldn't hear it I felt a little energy when we entered the office, it was definitely the song of silence." Sandra said to them.

Song of what?? These people are getting weirder and weirder.

Just as I was about to listen in on more of the conversation, the principal comes in.

"Nathan King, come with me now." The principal said, I moved out from my hiding spot and quickly gathered my things the class looking at me with curious stares.

I followed principal Jacobson to his office, and as he opens the door all of my teachers are there talking amongst themselves but the moment they see me they stop, Mr Hanson and his wife are looking at me with fear but also hatred, Mr Dane is looking at me with curiosity and Mrs Hanson's brother is looking at me with pure fury.

"You got a lot of nerve attacking my sister and brother in law you little freak!!" He yelled at me.

"Mr price please calm down." The principal said.

"I didn't attack them, they attacked me. I didn't do anything to them." I whimpered wide eyed and full of fear

"Don't lie you little brat. Olivia here told us you used some kind of weird power on her and her husband. So I will ask once and only once, what are you??" The principal growled out obviously very angry himself but I couldn't understand why.

"I honestly don't know what they are talking about." I started tearing up, I really had no idea what they were talking about.

"If the boy won't talk, I say we beat the answer out of him." Mr Dane said evilly while he looked at me, "please no" I whimpered out

"That's actually a very good idea Mr Dane, what better way to find out than to beat the answer out of the schools favorite punching bag." The principal looked at me with an evil smile. As I was about to run to the door Mrs Hanson tripped me, "You're not going anywhere freak." She said as I tried to get up but Mr Dane took the opportunity to step on my hand.

As I screamed in pain they all laughed, then they started kicking and punching me while the principal just sat there smiling at me.

Then Mr Dane got on top of me and started chocking me, i looked around at all the smirking teachers waving goodbye at me, I knew instantly that their true intentions were to kill me, and once again I started losing consciousness and again i heard that song in my head, the song of silence? I think Sandra called it.

I don't know why but the song sounded familiar to me and I couldn't figure out why, but I let it take over, I opened my eyes and Mr Dane suddenly let's go the moment he looks at my face. "What the hell?" He said as he got up wide eyed and suddenly very scared. "Oh my god!" Mr price said, "I told you!" Mrs Hanson yelled. "What the hell are you??" The principal asked as he got up from his seat, backing away scared as well.

I honestly didn't know what they kept talking about but when I looked over at the window I saw it, the symbol on my forehead as well as my eyes which had turned purple, but suddenly the symbol as well as my strange eye color had both disappeared. I looked at all of my adult tormentors and realized they were scared of me,

I quickly ran out of the office and sprinted down the hallway I went to the class and just grabbed my stuff. Then left, I then went to my locker and started to head home when I was stopped by my four main tormentors/ Ex best friends, "Where you going freak?! We have unfinished business!" Tyson yelled.

" I think it's time we had a little chat about you disrespecting us!" Vicky spat towards me. "What are you talking about?" I asked, " Don't play dumb freak! The lie about my girlfriend sleeping with Ander and Mr Dane! " Tyson yelled at me.

I didn't have time for this, I looked at the exit and immediately bolted out of the door. "Get back here!!!!" Tyson yelled, (YEAH RIGHT WHY THE HELL WOULD I DO THAT?!?!) I thought to myself, I ran and ran as far as I could go, which given my sore throat and aches from all my bruises wasn't far, I stopped to catch a breath.

Thinking I'd lost them, once I caught my second wind, I turned around to run again only to be caught by none other than Tyson himself. (ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!) I thought to the universe.

"well well well look who I found. Our little lost punching bag." Tyson said cruelly then out of nowhere the others walked towards me with great big smiles, "Now..... Let's have that little chat." Tyson rumbled, I shivered in pure fear as they led me to my doom.
