Theodore opened the door slowly, with his floating sword ready to strike. When he opened it fully, a small loli was sitting on Hailey's bed, which irritated Theodore. He walked in, with the sword closely following behind him, and stood in front of the girl.
"Who are you, and why are you in my house." I asked, while restraining my killing intent.
"I was looking for Hailey, I'm a representative from Heaven. I know you already declined, but let the girl choose for herself. There are benefits, and it would greatly accelerate her growth." The loli said. I looked at her with disdain. They had tried to brainwash me. Why would I let them do the same to Hailey?
I willed my sword, and it immediately flew across the room. Too fast for eyes to follow, and stabbed into the girl. It pinned her to the wall, through her stomach.
"YOU F*CKER! WHY DID YOU KILL ME? DO YOU KNOW HOW EXPENSIVE IT IS TO GET AN AVATAR?! THIS USED UP ALL OF MY DIVINITY YOU F*CK I'LL KILL YOU THEODORE HOLTON!!" the loli screamed at the top of her lungs. Her voice began to distort, and her skin began to melt. The girl in front of me was just a doll.
My sword decapitated her. No need to sit here and listen to the screams. I waited for Hailey to come back. During that time I converted some gold to money, and ordered us more food. I also browsed the Shop, looking for items of use, to work towards or skills that would augment my power.
I wanted to get stronger, and I understood that the steps to becoming unstoppable were always gradual. The skills that grew with time were the ones that typically got the strongest, allowing me to get progressively stronger, and eventually too much for anyone to stop. So I began to look for (Evolving) skills. They were all pretty expensive, with one priced at 100,000 gold, which was relatively cheap, that was able to increase my Sixth Sense. I also didn't forget about opening my sensitivity to mana either, with the skill I debated on before.
I had a lot to do, so I was going to be busy. I would ignore the war between Heaven and Hell, I believe they had nothing to do with the system, and more to do with the Dungeons. I only came to this conclusion because the system awarded me with the skill to resist divinity, which wouldn't happen if they could control the system. Did the God's have systems? It would certainly explain why they were as powerful as they were.
Either way, I knew what I could do to get stronger, and I wasn't going to get too hung up thinking about theories. I fiddled with my phone, watching some news programs about how the world was approaching a third worldwar.. I felt that I was only hearing about wars today.
Suddenly Hailey appeared in the center of the room, she looked at me confused, and then pointed at the blood on the wall.
"There was an unwelcome guest. I unalived them. We were both approached by Angles and Demons. There is a war between Heaven and Hell, and they're recruiting Hunters. Aggressively recruiting, so if you receive a weird dream, just know it might be one of their ploys." I then told her about how the Angels were looking to get to her, and how they used something called an avatar. I told her about the dream I had, and the skill I received.
"Its a useful skill, but it's a little disturbing that they're trying to brainwash Hunters into taking sides. I think you were right to be independent, but there might come a time where someone tries to force us into taking a side."
"Then we just need to be strong enough to resist... How are you feeling? Any problems moving?" I asked, looking at her worried.
Hailey's expression softened. "I am okay, thanks to you Theodore. I would have lost my hand if you didn't have that skill. I really can't thank you enough, and I am going a different path with my fighting style. I created a skill that increases my resistance to attacks, and my regenerative ability as I experience more battles. I decided I will face things head on, and I refuse to die." She said, will a resolute look on her face.
I could tell she had spent enough time thinking this through, and ultimately it was her decision. I would just support her, and help where I can. I sent her items I had saved to have her dismantle the items. We spoke for a while about various things, until there was an awkward silence.

"Would you like to go on a date with me?" I asked finally. I sort of ended up shouting it, but I couldn't help it! I had never asked a girl out before, and I honestly thought it would be longer, however I knew I wouldn't sit back and let life pass me up.
Hailey's face was bright red. She was looking down, and avoiding eye contact with me.
"I would really like that... Do you mind if I wash off the blood first?" She said, sheepishly. I hadn't realized, but Hailey was indeed covered in blood. Hers, and also wolf's blood.
'I should buy her a disease resistance skillbook.. Wouldn't want her to get infected from some creature's blood.' I thought to myself, as I left her room and closed the door. I got ready to leave, and waited by the front door for her to come down. I was looking out of the window, at nothing in particular, but I was lost deep in thought.
As I stared at the darkening sky, I sensed a presence behind me. I turned around, and saw Hailey walking down the stairs. She was wearing some casual clothes, jeans with a t-shirt and a jacket over, however it just hit me like one of those moments. When you see someone and it makes you forget to breathe. Afraid to spoil the sight that seemingly stops time.
Realizing she was already standing in front of me, I coughed and left the house. I locked it behind us, and we got into Hailey's car.
'I have to get a car too... Even though I don't know how to drive, I must learn. I can't have a girl driving me around all the time, it hurts my pride to get into the passenger seat.' I thought to myself. I began thinking of the type of car I wanted to drive, and all the different types of cars. Hailey and I sat in silence on the way there, and it was one of those comfortable silences you hear about. It just felt good to be around Hailey, and not talking about any of the stressful things we both had on our minds. Being able to just enjoy a simple car ride, not thinking about our next dungeon run.
We arrived at one of the fancy Italian restaurants in the city. We had both heard of this place but never been to it, because of how pricey it was. Now the price was no longer a problem. We entered and were seated. We looked around and realized we were being stared at by all the patrons. We looked at our clothes and realized we were severely under-dressed for dining here. We both blushed and kept our heads down.
Little did we know, there were a lot of people who snapped our pictures without our knowing, and posted it to social media. We had forgotten that our Charm and Charisma stats had been increased by a few items we were currently wearing, and that had pushed us to the upper echelons of attractive humans. We mistook their stares as judgmental and that we looked poor.
As we ordered our food, we began to talk about ourselves, just like a normal date. Hailey was a college trackstar, and she was studying to become a prenatal specialist. She had always loved babies and thought that helping expecting mothers was her calling. We laughed as we thought about how she was covered in blood not even two hours ago. She spoke of her family, and the love that was shared. She sounded like such a happy person, and at some point I felt that her life was ruined by the Dungeons and System. She had a real shot at living a happy and normal life.
She then began to ask me about my life previously, after which she was crying. I tried to tell her it was alright, and that my life had improved, but he reached over the table and hugged me anyways.
"You've been struggling alone all this time, but not anymore. While I am around, your tribulations are mine as well." she then sat back at my behest, however she held my hand and looked me in the eyes. "Even against the Heavens, I will stand by your side. I swear to you, and myself."
I saw that she was no longer playing around or overwhelmed with emotions, so I reciprocated her determination. "I shall be with you until the day we both die."
That day was beginning of a legend.
