Grandpa Luce

Karina sat on the bed next to Atlas, using her fingers to push his hair off of his forehead. Karina leans down and kisses Atlas on his forehead once more,

"I hope you have sweet dreams, baby."

She smiles sadly and stands up. As she walks away, Atlas smiles warmly. She opens the door and feels a small hand grab her wrist. She looks down and sees little Amy grabbing her. She has the most adorable face as she looks at her mom with worry on her face.

"Mommy, what's wrong?"

Karina didn't realize that her makeup had started running because of all the crying. She smiles at the little green haired girl,

"It's nothing, baby. It just seems that Atlas is following in his grandfather's steps."

Amy holds her arms up as she faces Karina, who knows what she means and picks her up.

She walks with her back to her office, taking a seat on one of the chairs.

Amy looks at Karina and asks,

"Mommy, what was grandpa like?"

Karina smiles,

"Your Grandpa… Well, first of all he was a very kind man…

——————————

A young Heath and Karina are standing before a tall old man. The man has short white hair and a medium length white beard with green streaks going all throughout it. He has a very serious look on his face as the young couple looks at him with fake smiles full of worry. The man walks over to the couple and looks down at Karina. He lifts up his arms and puts one hand on Karina's shoulder. She slowly looks up and sees the old man looking at her with a warm smile and tears in his eyes,

"THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MARRYING MY INCOMPETENT SON!"

The young couples faces look shocked. Karina speaks up a little,

"P-pardon?"

The old man pulls her into a hug,

"THANK YOU!"

She looks over to her husband with an awkward smile and her husband sighs.

"Dad, if you keep squeezing, you'll break her."

He seems to not hear his son as he keeps hugging her.

"KAISER!"

The old man, now identified as Kaiser, hurriedly lets go.

"Ventreia, I just couldn't help myself! Our son didn't chase her off for once!"

Heath blushes, grabs Karina's hand, and walks off with her.

"Your father was so embarrassed! It was one of the most funny moments in my life."

Amy giggles loudly. Karina strokes her hair and giggles as well.

"He may have been incredibly kind with family, but he was also one of the most incredible warriors of our kingdom…"

Kaiser stands in his steel plate armor, his white beard being rustled slightly by the wind. His padding and chain mail covering his head. He looks on with glowing green eyes at the approaching army, covered in dark red raiments over their steel armor. The army behind him being covered in tan raiments and steel as well. Kaiser puts on his slightly square shaped helmet, and takes the halberd who's haft is pushed into the ground. He lifts it up and bellows out,

"CHAAAAAAAAARGE!"

He runs forward, faster than any normal human. Several other glowing-eyed armored knights follow with him. Fireballs start flying forward from his line. In response to this, a wall of water comes up in front of the enemy line. The fireballs slam into the wall, exploding on impact and being put out. Kaiser reaches the wall and stands with his feet planted. He holds his halberd beside himself, standing straight up several feet above him. The blade starts glowing green as his body gets covered by a slight aura. The other knights beside him start doing the same. Purple, blue, red, yellow; several colors come from these knights. Kaiser opens his eyes which are glowing even bright and moves his halberd behind him, holding it out. He then slashed sideways.

The energy in his halberd roars forward, slashing straight through the wall of water as if it wasn't even there. As it passes through, some of the water sizzles. On the other side of the wall, the wizards who raised the wall release short screams. That ends within seconds. After his slash ends, the other knights release similar attacks. The line of wizards very quickly falls.

Kaiser and his knights start running forward yet again. He gets a devilish smile on his face as he jumps up into the air and slams right in the block of soldiers in front of him. Every slash with his halberd breaks bone, cuts limbs, and decapitates. His knights aren't far behind him either, as they decimate the lines as well.

Other knights attack them as well, with the most powerful fighting Kaiser. Their battle causes small shockwaves with each hit. Several still living soldiers get sent flying or are caught by the energy of the two knights. Kaiser very quickly catches the enemy knight off guard by knocking his sword away and hitting him with the butt of his halberd before pivoting the blade sideways and catching him in the ribs, cutting straight through the steel armor as though it were butter. Kaiser pulls the halberd from the knight's body with a smile. The soldiers that are still around are all broken and retreating.

"Ah, I love my job."

Amy looks up at Karina with a look of amazement, but that very quickly changes to confusion.

"Wait, if the armor soldiers wear can't protect them, why do they wear it?"

Karina ruffles her hair with a laugh,

"No, silly. The armor is very protective, but a knight's attack is just that strong. The armor can very easily protect against regular soldiers and arrows. Although, not all metal is created equally. Mythril can defend against the attack of a knight with ease, and even absorbs magic attacks to some extent."

Amy gets an 'ohhhhh' look on her face.

"So grandpa was very strong?"

"Yes he was."

Karina looks at the fireplace.

"Then how did he die?"

Karina gets a sad look on her face, but smiles at Amy,

"No matter how strong someone is, strength can't protect you against sickness. He got sick right before Alvina was born. He was able to live to see Alvina, but he died very soon after. He loved you guys with all his heart, and I'm sure he's looking at you all with a smile from Heltanis' garden."

Amy senses her mom's sadness and gives her a big hug. Karina responds in kind.

'Dear Heltanis, please make sure grandpa is happy and healthy and playing with Betsy, our old dog. I'm sure he will like her.'

Amy silently prays in her mind.
