The room fell into deafening silence. Avina's little smile was about to fall off her face the longer the silence stood.
Her little mechanical legs walked deeper into the dark. The door closed behind her with a loud thud, startling Avina.
The darkness, the silence - it all made Avina tense. Her steps gradually grew slower until even Daniel was irritated.
A loud sigh broke the silence. Daniel's chair creaked inside the room and a large figure loomed over Avina.
Avina could tell it was his shadow. The darkness got darker around her, and she lifted her head. Her round eyes grew rounder and she pushed a silly smile onto her face.
"Daddy," Avina lifted the book in her arms to him, "Read for me?"
Avina was unaware of the terrifying expression on Daniel's face. His eyes were bloodshot and his jaw was sharp and defined from the pressure he was pushing.
