Third Person POV

+

The Knights were having breakfast all together on Emma and Adam's terrace like usual, only this time the atmosphere was thick with tension and awkwardness between the usually lovey-dovey couple, Emma and Adam.

It was so unusually unfamiliar that even Giuseppe noticed the change, and kept quite. He didn't see it was an appropriate time to speak about anything at all much less his training.

"I'm going." Adam stood up after he finished his breakfast, he moved towards Emma who seemed a bit upset by the look of her slightly pouted lips. He kissed her forehead. "Call me if anything happens." He said, and made his way out but not before ruffling Giuseppe's hair in a fatherly manner. "Train well." He told him, then he was out.

Giuseppe found it admirable how Adam still showed Emma just how much she meant to him in spite of his mood and the fact that they most probably just had a fight. He was still concerned about her and he still showered her with love and affection.

Emma kept quite with the same pouted lips until Adam was gone that she smiled ever so slightly and looked at where he was standing moments ago.

She remembered their conversation last night when they were about to sleep.

Flashbacks

Emma went to bed earlier than usual, she was off since the conversation she and Adam shared, and because she didn't want to face him again. Not after what he threatened her with.

So while he was gone to god knows where she wanted to sleep it off and maybe tomorrow she may have enough energy to do whatever it is she can to pacify things between them, whether it is to forgive or to pretend none of this ever happened.

Adam was gone the moment he made his point clear. He wanted to take in some fresh air alone and figure things out. Things that their unintended conversation brought to light, the last thing he wanted was to show her this side of him. However his jealousy and possessiveness always got the best of him.

However before Emma's wish was realised, Adam was back.

So she did what was seemed to be the best 'plan B' at that moment, pretend to be asleep.

Adam went to her side and pecked her lips softly before heading to the bathroom to take a shower and change into more comfortable clothes.

When he came back he went to his side of the bed and laid down. He pulled her ever so softly into his arms and in the pose they always sleep in, with her head on his shoulder and their legs entwined and his arms around her.

However when he knew she was awake when she tensed when he wrapped her in his arms, only he didn't let that hinder him from continuing what he was doing. He only spoke when she was nestled in his arms the way he wanted her to. "I'm sorry I scared you earlier." He said after awhile of silence.

"I know you're mad at me for treating you that way and most probably scared of my behaviour, but put yourself in my place. What would you do if one of my exes suddenly appeared demanding a meeting with me? Would you simply let it slide like that?" Adam added when he got no reply whatsoever from her.

Emma turned in his arms, facing him. Her eyes blazing. "Are you hinting to the redhead that got rid of awhile back? Do you feel sorry for her by any chance!" She questioned angrily.

"That right there is what I felt when you brought your ex up, only ten times worst since you actually were thinking of meeting with him." Adam said referring to Emma's feeling about the read head. "There's not nothing I fear more than you leaving me or finding someone who can waver your already unsure feelings for me." He confessed. "Your ex is an immediate threat to me, and I don't take lightly to threats." He added, his eyes held a dark promise of destruction.

"Did you mean what you said to me? The threat, I mean." Emma asked, slightly relaxing in his arms.

"The one thing I don't like is being betrayed. Those who betray me get the maximum sentence, even if it was you." Was his answer.

"But I need to meet with him, there's something you don't know about me and him. Something that can be an assurance to you that he is in no way a threat to you." Emma tried to bargain.

"And what that may be?" Emma's words seemed to pick his interest up.

"I can't exactly tell you what is it, just know that whatever we shared was purely business. He was always a means to an end for me, nothing more and nothing less." She said.

Adam spent awhile rolling things up in his mind before he spoke. "If you must really meet with him, do it here, in our home." He finally conceded.

"But-"

"It's either that or no meeting at all." He cut her complaint off, and closed his eyes off while hugging her tightly as a sign that he was sleeping and that the discussion was over.

Emma nuzzled his neck before surrendering to sleep.

End of Flashbacks.

Müller came to Emma in the living room where she was reading through a newspaper, she just came out of a meeting with him and Jürgen half an hour ago.

"He's here." He informed.

She knew who he was talking about, there's only one guest they were expecting. "Where is he?" She asked.

"By the gates as you ordered. He's prevented from entering the premises." Müller replied.

"Let's get this done with then." She said standing up.

~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~

"Who the hell do you think you're dealing with?" She could hear the commotion he was causing from the car before she saw him.

Their premises were just too vast that they had to take the car from the main house to the gates to reach in time since it was at least 30 minutes walk.

The car stopped, and Müller stepped out from the driver seat to open the door for her.

She stepped out of the vehicle and walked towards him. "Stop intimidating my people, Michael. My words here are the law, not yours." She said to the still yelling Michael.

Michael looked up when he heard her voice.

Emma didn't miss the smile that lit his face up when he spotted her, she reverted her attention to the guards who were still standing there in front of him, preventing him from taking a step inside. She signalled for them with a her head to leave them alone.

Müller was standing not far from them, just enough to give them space but to interfere if something happens.

"What is it that you wanted to meet me for?" She asked him, after taking a seat on one of the chairs the guards brought for them upon her orders.

"We're going to talk in here?" He asked bewildered, looking around his surrounding.

"Yup, and you have exactly 40 minutes before my husband comes back." She said looking at her watch. "Then I can't guarantee what he would do if he sees you here, so you better get right into it." She added.

"Husband, you say?" He scoffed. "Okay then," he sat down on the second chair. "It's about your so-called husband." He said.

Emma raised an eyebrow at him. "What about him?" She asked.

"He's not like what he seems to be, there's more to him than he actually lets on." He said.

"Okay, that's it! You're time's up!" She stood up about to leave him to the guards to deal with him. She was not about to let him talk about Adam like that.

"Wait, please!" He stood up too. "I'm not lying I swear! Adam Knights is nothing like the man he pretends to be. There's so much he's not telling you." He repeated. "Please come back with me, only I can protect you from whatever they're brewing against you. Come back with me, we can be happy once again just like we used to be." He pleaded.

Emma snapped her head towards him sharply. "ARE YOU FUCKING OUT OF YOUR DAMN MIND?" she yelled at him.

"Babe, plea-" he tired to reason with her.

"Don't you dare babe me, you've lost every right to nickname me years ago." She warned him. "The only threat I see around right now is you!" She added.

"I just-"

"Oh, I know, you just want me to do to my husband the exact thing you did to me all those years ago. Well, guess what I'm not an ungrateful bitch like you. Unlike you I cherish those who cherish me." Emma said before walking away. "Oh, and one more thing, go back to your wife, you worthless cheat!" She exclaimed without flattering her steps.

She hated his guts. She wished she never met him in the first place, nothing good ever came of of meeting him, the only thing he and his family managed to embed in her was scars, regret, pain, and countless amounts of hatred.

She was making her way inside the car when he yelled something at her that stopped her dead in her tracks.

"Let's not forget who played who, Doctor Annalise Emma Sampson. You're the one responsible of my cheating ways the most."
