Third Person POV

+

Adam woke up to someone snuggling to him from behind, and just when he was about to pry the soft hands off of him he stopped.

Emma's familiar smell hit his nostrils making him turn around ever so softly to make sure it's her before acting.

When he turned to face her, he was mesmerised with her features. She was so angelic, so peaceful and utterly breathtaking. He lifted his hand to her cheek caressing it so gently with a ghost of a smile gracing his lips before lifting her right hand to his lips, kissing it longingly.

Emma stirred in her sleep when she felt someone holding her hand, but she could barely open her eyes due to the heavy feeling she was feeling in her head and the pain in behind her eyes. It was as if someone was poking sharpe-edged needles right in her eyes, so she couldn't risk opening her eyes in the sunlight that she was feeling on her skin instead she opted for moaning slightly to tell Adam that she's awake.

Adam looked at her face once he heard her somewhat pained moan. "What's wrong? Are you unwell?" He asked alarmed shifting to sit so he could see properly.

"Don't move, Adam." She whispered so lowly that he barely heard her. He ceased his movements immediately when he knew what she meant. His movements caused for the bed sheets around her and the pillow under her head and the bed to move along with him even if it was barely noticeable to normal people but in her case every small movement helped increasing the pain she's trying to bring to end. He was familiar with her illness already that he knows all shapes and forms these episodes attack her. "Give me a minute." She added in the same tone as earlier when she felt him almost holding his breath along with his movements. She sensed how worried he was when realised her condition, and she wanted to assure him that it's okay this time, that it's bearable.

She never understood how Adam felt alarmed each and every time one of these episodes hit her, no matter how big or small they were. He always showed signs of worry and pain as if he was the one going through it. He was always there holding her hand through them all.

"The curtains." Emma said.

Adam immediately took the remote and closed them before taking another and switched a couple of lights on so that the room is dimly lit.

~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~

After awhile of them in the same position, Adam slightly hovering over her while watching her and Emma laying on her back with her right arm over her eye, she finally removed her arm and opened her eyes ever so slowly trying to adjust to the light little by little so that the pain she barely managed to subdue doesn't kick back in.

Adam was not that warred since he knew that this episode is not as strong as the others, especially since Emma didn't look as pale or as weak as she does when a strong episode hit her.

"What's all this about?" Adam asked when he knew that she wasn't feeling any pain anymore. His face showed anger and finality mixed with a hint of surprise and worry.

"My flight landed a couple of hours before down." She said. "But imagine my surprise when I went straight to the hospital thinking you'd still be there seeing that it hasn't been even 24 hours that you woke, only to be told by the nurse that you've been discharged in the morning, so why don't you tell me the reason you're here instead of being in your hospital bed?" Emma said seriously. Her eyebrows were scrunched together, and lips in a small pout. Adam knew that that's a look she pull only when she's trying to overshadow her worries with a stern look.

He missed being lectured by her about things concerning his health, it was as if she was away for years not only twenty four hours. He took her nose in between forefinger and thumb, pulling at it gently. "I'm perfectly fine, so don't try to deviate from the topic." He said with a hint of smile.

"Are you sure, Adam?" She inquired.

"I am, trust me." He said sitting properly with his back leaned against the headboard before pulling her into his arms so that she's half sitting and half laying on his chest.

"I boarded the plane as soon as I finished what I was there for, but Papa was pissed that I left him early, saying that I chose you over him." Emma said once she was comfortable in her position.

Adam chuckled a bit at the now somewhat familiar behaviour of the old man she calls Papa, they definitely seemed to have something in common, they both are not found of sharing Emma's attention. "What caused the episode that you just went through?" Adam asked.

"It's been one hell of a 24 hours, I had a lot to deal with at once then I travelled twice which is why I think it triggered it." Emma replied. "It's a lot weaker than I though seeing that I've been trying to control it the whole day without much medication." She added.

"What do you mean without medication? You've skipped your meds?" Adam's tone was not at all that sweet and gentle anymore. It was authoritative and stern.

"I had to if I wanted to do the job within the deadline you gave." She defended.

He felt a bit guilty for giving her such a short time considering her health condition, but he knew that even if they were to come back in time he would still act the same if not reducing it to half a day or something. He didn't like the idea of her being far from him not even for a day.

"I brought a guest with me." She said trying to lighten the sudden denseness in the air.

"Huh?" Adam raised one of his eyebrows.

"Yeah, a very naughty, noisy, unpredictable and drama queen-ish guest." She described with a smile.

Adam was confused, he didn't understand what she was saying or whom she was describing, but he never inquired more. "The house is yours to invite whomever you want as long as they fit in the rules." He said.

The only rules Adam would ever restrict Emma with were concerned with other men and her safety, and the rule he was taking about was that she is not to associate with any suspicious men or bring them in the house.

Emma only nodded her head in understanding before a comfortable silence reigned over the room only for Emma to break it after awhile.

"Adam?" She called.

"Yeah?"

"About what you said in the hospital, what did you mean?" She asked.

"What did I say?" He asked confused.

"That we're already married." She clarified.

"Oh, that!" He said. "I meant that-" he was about to explain when they were interrupted when the door to their bedroom abruptly opened revealing a panting Giuseppe.

"What the fuck! Who the fuck are you?" Boomed Adam a little too loud than he intended to causing Emma to slightly wince.

Giuseppe stood rooted in his place looking between a glaring Adam and Emma who tried to stand up form Adam's embrace but in vain he had a tight grip on her. "This is the very noisy guest I was talking about earlier." She told Adam.

"What do you want, Giuseppe?" After she created a bit of distance between her and Adam, but was still nestled in his arms.

"Jürgen was taken away." She stated simply as if all the running he did was for nothing but the fun of it.

Emma sat abruptly when her mind registered what the little boy said, she tried to stand up and leave the bed despite the sharp pain that just came back due to her sudden movement, but Adam's strong grip stopped her from doing so.

"You're sick, Emma." Adam stated simply as if that was enough reason to justify his action.

"But Schöner Bruder needs me!" Emma exclaimed, still trying to pry his hands off her, but stopped when she saw him glaring at her menacingly when she uttered her words.

She bit her tongue at her choice of words and the time she chose to use it. Adam was so possessive that he sometimes gets jealous form stupidly trivial things and here she is acting all worried and scared for another man she even called him handsome. She was so dead and so was Jürgen.

"Too bad that your Schöner Bruder gonna have to wait until you're okay." Adam spat the nickname she used for Jürgen with venom lacing each letter.

"Please Adam, if I don't help him he's done!" She tired arguing. "HE'S GONNA DIE P, DAMN IT!" She yelled angrily when she saw he wasn't budging before she hissed in pain. She lifted her hands up to her temples and squeezed tightly trying to ease the sting.

Adam looked at her for a while before forcing her to lay back down and covered her with the blanket and standing from the bed. She tried sit but stopped when she was met with Adam's heated glare.

"Please, Adam-"

Adam cut her off with his cold and detached voice. "Your precious Jürgen will be in front of you before this hour ends but don't you dare to leave this bed. I won't be as lenient when I find out you disobeyed me." He warned icily.

Emma knew she pissed him off greatly. Despite knowing how much he hated her bringing up other men's names on her lips she did just that.

"Weren't you taking the day off today?" She asked softly, hoping that would divert his attention from his anger.

"When I come back you better have an explanation for this reckless behaviour." He said in the same tone as earlier, totally ignoring her question.

Then he turned to a still standing Giuseppe- more like glued to his place. "Wait outside!" He ordered.

But Giuseppe was still rooted to his place as if he was in daze or something. "OUT!" Adam barked again causing him to snap out of whatever daze he was in and spring out of the room in a lightening speed.

Adam then turned back to Emma and leaned down to fix the blanket on her so that she's fully covered before leaning down towards her forehead and kissing it. He moved back after awhile and looked down at her, his eyes softened for a nanosecond before it disappeared and the cold and detached look took over again.

He turned around, fished his phone and started dialling a number before putting it on his ear and start talking- more like whispering in German afraid to disturb Emma more than he did.

He closed switched off the lights on his way out and closed the door so gently that it constructed with his earlier behaviour.

Emma looked at the door for quite sometime. She felt bad for upsetting him like that, he's always so kind, gentle and caring towards her and she's always making mistakes.

Even in his anger he still treated her with so much care.

She's going to have to redeem it before it gets out of control.
