Chapter 94 Lilly (9)

A few days later, Lilly, now wearing some rather normal clothes, went around the house, cleaning every speck of dust.

Once she was done, she observed her work shining brilliantly in the light of the dawn. Her face filled with satisfaction and pride.

Not long after, the front door opened. Lilly eagerly ran up to it while asking. "Grandma, is that you?!"

Her grandmother, taking her shoes off while carrying baskets of food, replied. "Yeah, it's me."

Lilly ran up to her and hugged her before her grandmother hugged back. She then helped her with the baskets she was carrying, dragging them inside with a bit of struggle.

Her grandmother noticed the clean inside, she then placed a finger on a table and swiped her finger across it, not gathering a single bit of dust.

Lilly looked at her with eyes filled with expectation and excitement. Her grandmother, noticing a leaf on her shoulder, blew into it before saying. "Missed a spot." As the leaf fell onto the table.

"Grrr...." Lilly could only growl as her grandmother picked up the baskets beside her with an insulting grin on her face.

"What a cheat!"

"Hahahaha!" Her grandmother laughed as she went into the kitchen with the baskets filled with food. Leaving Lilly alone in the room, who immediately picked up the leaf with a frustrated expression before throwing it outside, only for it to come back and hit her face because of the wind.

After making sure that the leaf was thrown outside, she hurriedly ran back inside and went to her grandmother, who was preparing the ingredients for their breakfast.

She placed her face onto the countertop as she said. "Grandma! You said you would teach me how to cook today, right?"

With a sigh, her grandmother replied. "Yes, I did, Lilly."

"Now, teach me."

Her grandmother looked at her with a worried face as she asked. "Are you sure that you want to learn how to cook? No other reason other than wanting it yourself?"

"Nope. I just want to make my own food."

Met with her childish honesty, her grandmother formed a relieved face before she said. "Alright, I'll teach you. But only because, YOU want it."

Lilly jumped in place as she cheered. "Yes! Yes!"

As she watched Lilly jump around with a smile, her grandmother then explained. "Okay, Lilly. Make sure you listen and learn, okay?"

"Yes!"

And like that, Lilly and her grandmother spent their days learning how to cook, doing household chores, taking walks, and just random stuff they like felt doing.

And soon after that, the month has ended. While Lilly was casually doing her afternoon routine, her grandmother approached her and said. "Lilly, wear your prettiest dress. We are going outside."

"Okay? But, where are we going? And, why do I need to dress up?"

Her grandmother, with a mischievious smile, showed her a letter before saying. "We have been invited to the King's event."

After that, the two prepared themselves, wearing their most decent clothes, braiding both of their long, white hair, and heading outside and getting inside a luxurious looking carrage.

Then, just as the sun set behind the horizon, they have made their way back towards the city now filled with lights and decorations.

As Lilly watched the glimmering surroundings with a gleeful expression, the carrage headed for the wide main road.

When they got out, Lilly immediately wanted to run up to everything she saw, but when she looked around and saw a few people staring at her, she immediately hid behind her grandmother.

"There's no need to hide, Lilly. If someone is scaring you, then tell me. I'll make sure to scare them back." Said her grandmother who's face slowly turned into a demon's.

"You're the only one scary here, Grandma. But...."

"Why are they just staring at me?"

Her grandmother looked around at the people who were staring at Lilly. She immediately came up with the reason before she said to Lilly. "It's okay, Lilly. Their only giving you curious gazes. You know, white hair isn't really that common."

Lilly, who was hiding behind her long, white hair, immediately knew what she was talking about, but that didn't stop her from asking. "You also have white hair, Grandma. Why are they not staring at you?"

"They are staring at me. I just ignore them."

Lilly was a bit speechless upon hearing her grandmother's words. Her grandmother knelt down to her and said. "It's fine, Lilly. I won't let anyone hurt you. The reason I brought you here is, to have fun. So, raise your head up high and enjoy yourself." Before releasing a genuine smile.

While still hiding behind her hair, Lilly replied. "I guess, I'll try..."

The two of them then began walking through the streets hand in hand, still gathering a bit of attention, but no one really interrupted them.

After getting a bit used to the stares, Lilly slowly stopped hiding behind her hair, taking in the beauty of the night in it's entirety.

With her face filled with wonder and excitement, Lilly unconsiously began dragging her grandmother around, who is wearing a genuine smile and answering every single one of Lilly's questions.

After a while of just admiring the surroundings, Lilly's stomach began to rumble, causing her to ask. "Grandma, can we buy some of the foods they sell? They smell delicious." Pointing at the food stalls scattered all around.

Her grandmother swayed her head before saying. "Have you forgotten the invitation? It's where we are supposed to be. There's free food around there as well."

"Why didn't we go there in the first place?"

Her grandmother placed a hand on her mouth, barely covering her teasing smile as she replied. "Well, I didn't want to stop the baby from having fun?"

"Grrr...." Lilly growled before giving her grandmother's side a little headbut.

"Aah, oh no. Ahh, my sides, they have been headbutted. Whatever will I do?"

"Grrr.... That's enough teasing! You said I should have fun?!"

"That didn't mean I can't have my own. Hahaha!"

"Grrr.... Stop it! Let's go to the location in the letter, right now!"

"Hahahaha!"

They then made their way towards the place indicated in the letter, which is in the part of the wide main road just before the massive palace in the middle of the city.

Once they were close enough, Lilly saw how the inside of the closed off area seemed even more enchanting than the place they were currently at.

But her view was suddenly interrupted when a soldier blocked their way, saying. "Please turn back. This place is only for those with a le-"

But before the soldiers could finish, Lilly's grandmother grabbed the soldier by neck as she asked him with a face that looked like she was about to eat him. "Do you think I didn't know that?"

Her grandmother's actions caused the other surroundings soldiers to try and calm the situation without hurting anyone.

But before anybody could step in, a man, who's unnecessarily long mustache is slowly turning white, came out from the inside, asking. "What is going on here?!"

"Consultor Hige! She-"

When the old man saw the terrifying face of Lilly's grandmother, he said with a awkward expression. "Ah, Madam Yamato. We have been expecting-"

But before he could finish his sentence, the soldier in the grasp of Lilly's grandmother has already been thrown at him, much to everyone's shock.

As they made impact and crashed onto the ground, Lilly's grandmother yelled. "Who do you think your calling 'Madam Yamato'?! That's Master to you, brat!"

The old man, met with the significantly older woman's wrath, kneeled before her immediately as he said. "I'm sorry, Master. This pupil has simply forgotten how to call you due to old age."

"Hmph!" Lilly's grandmother coldly snorted as she walked passed the old man, dropping the letter by his side before heading inside.

Just when the soldiers were about to stop her, the old man rose from his knees before stopping them with a truly horrofied expression.

Lilly, who was too shocked to do anything, just silently followed her grandmother who quite literally, let herself in.

The inside of the closed off area enchanted Lilly's eyes. Different colored lights rivaling the stars in the night sky, joyous laughter enough to make anyone smile just from hearing it, stalls that made only the most delicious of smells.

Lilly clung to her grandmother's hand as she walked, worried she might get lost due to her marveling at everything she saw.

They made their way to a stall, and like her grandmother said, food was free. As they gnawed on their food, they walked through the brightly lit place.

"Where are we going this time, Grandma?"

"To the center. It's where the good stuff are."

"Okay." Lilly said as she took another bite on her food.

They then made their way to what looks to be another closed off area, only this time, the soldiers didn't bother to stop them once they saw the old woman's face.

When they went in, they heard a faint noise. It was the sound of an instrument. They decided to follow it after hearing it's masterful execution.

They were led to an open stage where a bunch of people are currently residing, but none of them dared to make a noise.

They made their way to a high place where no one should noticed them or interrupt. But once they looked at the stage, Lilly was quite confused.

She saw a little girl, playing a stringed intrument in the middle of the place. But what really confused Lilly, was the appearance of the little girl.

The young girl, sat gracefully as her short, white hair hung from her shoulders. Her pale, white skin giving her an enchanting feel.

And only after listening for a few seconds, the little girl finished performing. She opened her eyes, revealing scarlet red eyes with pupils in the shape of a four-petalled flower.

Lilly then asked her grandmother. "Who is that, Grandma? Why does she look like me?"

Her grandmother gave her a concerned look as she asked. "Don't tell me you haven't met her?"

"Who is she? Am I supposed to know her?" Asked Lilly, face filled with confusion.

Her grandmother let out a sigh, gripped her fist tightly as she said. "She is your sister, Lilly. Your twin, Lilia, to be exact."

Lilly returned her attention to the little girl on stage as she mumbled to herself. "My... sister?"

As Lilly was staring at her twin sister, Lilia, the little girl on stage turned her direction, greatly surprising Lilly.

But soon, she realized that she wasn't looking at her directly, causing her to calm down. But her heart raced once more when she saw who her sister was looking at. It was their father, Sai.

Their father, along with everyone else, clapped a wave of applause at Lilia, who then gracefully bowed.

As they clapped, the audience said to each other.

"What a lucky father Sai must be."

"Yeah, to think he would get such a talented daughter."

"How old is she again?"

"Maybe I have been slacking as a father?"

Hearing their chats loud and clear, Lilly focused her attention towards her father, who despite looking the other way, she somehow knew that he had a proud smile on his face.

"Aaaa...." Lilly looked at Lilia with a blank stare. She then touched the top of her head, seemingly unconsciously.

Her grandmother, who was watching her every movement, formed a worried face. She then gave Lilly a hug, who despite getting slightly confused at first, hugged back.
