Chapter 85 Oboete Household

Within one of the various hilltop mansions, a woman is traversing down a hallway. Hallways grandly furnished by different, yet expensive decorations.

As she traversed the silent halls, she was suddenly pushed to the floor by a sudden force from her side.

With precise movements, she managed to land on her one functional leg. She then immediately searched for the source of the force she felt.

She then saw a large ball of hair laying flat on the floor, she then took her walking stick and poked the bundle of hair a couple of times.

Then, after the third poke, the ball of hair pulled itself off of the floor, seemingly lost and confused. She then turned around and met the woman's gaze.

She kneeled to the ground as she bowed while saying. "I'm sorry, Lady Oboete. I wasn't looking. Please forgive me."

As the kneeling girl placed her forehead to the ground, the lady then said with a calm and soothing tone. "It is fine. Accidents happen. You are free to go as long as you help me stand up."

"Thank you, Lady Oboete. Please, let me help you."

The girl then assisted the lady off of the ground. She grabbed the lady's walking stick and handed it to the lady's left hand.

She stepped to the side as the lady began to stablize herself with the help of the walking stick. Once she regained her balance, she said to the girl. "I'm fine now. You can take your leave."

"*nod* *nod*" Even though she nodded, the girl didn't leave immediately and just calmly watched the lady walk away with her walking stick.

The lady successfully managed to take a few steps even though everything below her left knee is completely gone, letting her walking stick do it's job of maintaining her balance.

Seeing the lady casually walk away even with her disability, the girl gave the lady a nod before heading back to what she was doing.

The lady continued on walking down the halls all alone with a gentle smile on her face, making it seem like she is not disturbed by the fact that she has parts of her body missing.

After a while of walking, she stopped just before a sliding door. She readjusted her stance as she reached for the handle with what remains of her right hand.

Her right hand is also completely gone, leaving only a stump formed from her wrist. She lodged her right wrist onto the handle before sliding the door open.

Inside is a room filled with people in what looks to be a kitchen. Hearing the door open, everyone stopped what they were doing and focused their attention towards the door.

Seeing the lady standing there, a couple of people, all with animalistic traits, ran over to the woman and assisted her in maintaining her balance.

Catching the lady's weight in her grasp, a girl with feline features said with a worried tone. "Lady Oboete, you mustn't exert yourself. If you need something, please, just ask for help."

"I can take care of myself, thank you for your concerns." The lady said with a calm and gentle smile.

The people slowly let the lady go, allowing her to stand on her own. They took a few steps back before returning to what they were doing, but like the rest of the people in the kitchen, they couldn't help but feel a need to help the disabled lady.

An older looking woman then walked over to the lady, and asked with a polite tone. "How may I help you tonight, Lady Oboete?"

"I would like for you to tell yourselves and the other servants to leave me for the rest of the night."

"I assume you don't want anyone even coming close to your room, milady?"

"Yes. Please just tell the servant that will serve my food to knock before entering."

"We will follow your wishes, milady."

The lady gave the woman a nod before walking down the hallway. As this happened, the woman made sure that the lady can walk properly before coming back going back into the kitchen.

The lady continued to walk the extravagant halls with the help of her walking stick. And after a while, she made her way outside.

She walked on the exterior walkways, admiring the lush and beautiful gardens lit by the moonlight outside.

After walking for a bit, she made her way onto a room. The room looked plain, yet extravagant at the same time with blank empty walls, but extremely decorated furniture carefully placed onto the floor.

She scanned the contents of the room, but did not enter it. She instead sat at the edge of the walkway outside, dangling her one remaining leg off of the walkway, touching the stone walkways down below that weaves through the gardens of the mansion.

She took a deep breath, allowing the cold and chilly night breeze to enter her lungs. She then exhaled while looking directly up in the night sky, allowing the moonlight to touch her pale skin.

She watched the stars twinkle as a cold breeze ran towards her, blowing her extravagant clothes and her beautiful black hair backwards.

After a few minutes of stargazing, the woman then looked to her left side. Looking directly at the walking stick that allowed her to move throughout the mansion.

She then looked to her right, staring directly onto what remains of her right hand. She felt the coldness of the night wrap around her wrist, causing her to tuck it into her robes.

She looked back into her empty room for a moment before returning her gaze back towards the night sky.

Instead of continuing her stargazing, the lady decided to close her eyes, blocking the amazing view in front of her.

As she continued to close her eyes, a hint of loneliness appeared on the lady's gorgeous face, making it look like a scene straight out of a painting.

After staying in this position for a while, a knock came from her door that leads indoors. The lady opened her eyes before stating. "Please wait a moment."

She then crawled on the floor and made her way towards the middle of her room. She then sat down in front of the table in the room before saying. "You may come in."

A moment later, the sliding door opened, revealing a young lady with long, black hair covering most of her face. In front of her, a tray filled with scrumtious dishes are arranged.

She moved the tray into the room before entering herself. And after closing the door behind her, the young lady made her way towards the lady, gracefully sitting next to the table.

She arranged the contents of the tray in front of the lady before putting a cup on the side of the table. She then grabbed the kettle that came along with her before pouring the warm tea into the cup with grace and elegance.

After she finished filling the cup, the young lady with the long, black hair gave the woman a bow before moving backwards towards the door.

Just as she was about to open the door she came from, the lady then called out to her and asked. "Young lady. Can you maybe hand me my walking stick before you leave? It's just outside of the room on the walkway."

The young lady then turned around and gave the lady a dignified nod. She then made her way across the room and onto the walkway outside.

Just as she was grabbing the walking stick, the lady grabbed the tea cup and placed it on her left hand with her right wrist as support.

She blew into the cup as the young lady made her way back towards her with the walking stick.

The young lady placed lady's cane beside her before backing away, making her way back onto the moonlit walkway outside.

Just as the young lady stood up and was in the process of leaving, the lady, who was taking a sip of the tea, placed her cup down onto the table before saying with a calm tone. "You may have been too young to form any memories with me..."

"But unlike memories, a mother's love surpasses the limits of time."

"So, that's why I ask you..."

"Why do you cover yourself, Lilly?"

The young lady, with the moonlight behind her, turned back and faced the lady in the room passionately staring at her.

Her light blue eyes with pupils in the shape of a four petalled flower glowing within the dark surroundings.

"Reveal yourself. I want to see my daughter." The lady added as she contimued to stare at the camoflauged Lilly with eyes that held back a wave of emotion.

Lilly gave her a nod before her entire body turned white and rigid. The paper-like exterior folded itself back into a black coat that protected Lilly's petite body from the cold nightbreeze.

With a face filled with conflicting emotions, Lilly, without any attempt to hide herself, said with a shaky voice. "Mother."

"Lilly."

"Come and sit with me. We have lots to talk about." The lady said before taking another sip of her tea, completely calm and collected.

Lilly meanwhile, is quivering and shivering, making her look like she's frozen in place due to the atmosphere.

Seeing Lilly's reaction, Lilly's mother placed her cup down onto the table once more before saying with a calm, yet intimidating tone. "I said sit with me, Lilly."

Lilly, still uncontrollably shaking, managed to give her a nod before sheepishly making her way onto the opposite end of the table.

Even though she is sitting right in front of her mother, Lilly couldn't look at her directly, hiding her eyes in her short, white hair.

Lilly's mother then placed her arms onto her lap as she asked with a dignified and serious tone. "Why did you come back, Lilly?"
