Chapter 57 Information

Somewhere in the arid and dry desert, a couple of buildings are clumped together in a large stone formation, sheltering them from the unforgiving sun.

But, the buildings themselves looked damaged. Like a battle has occured, yet there was not a single noise.

Inside one of the stone cold buildings, two people stood in a dark room.

It was a man and a woman. Morgan and Chrys to be exact.

"Can we trust his statement?" Morgan asked monotonously as he looked at Chrys.

"We can't really trust them fully, but we can believe them." Chrys, who had his back on Morgan, replied.

"What do we do now?" Morgan asked.

"Follow the bread crumb trail." Chrys answered.

"Then, do we go immediately?"

"No, we can't. We still have to wait for Set and Celine."

Morgan remained silent for a second before she asked. "I know we mean a lot to you. But, are we worth the effort you put in?"

"What do you mean by that?" Chrys asked.

"... I mean, we all have our problems. That includes you. You still haven't dealt with yours, and yet, you're trying to help us."

Chrys remained silent for a moment before saying. "I guess, that's true. But, like the way I help you, you guys will help me, right? I mean you already helped me once before, Morgan."

Morgan then said. "That's true. But I can safely say, that most of the people with us, wouldn't spare you or me a single thought if we were in trouble."

Chrys turned around with a smile on his face and asked. "That may be true, but I believe people can change."

"That's a bit naive." Morgan said.

"Your one to talk about being naive." Chrys replied as he took a glance at the bow in Morgan's hand. The meter on it is in the yellow level.

Morgan hid the bow behind her without letting go and just stared at Chrys with her blank, emotionless eyes.

Chrys let out a sigh and asked. "Why are you even asking these questions, Morgan?"

Morgan remained silent, but she continued to glare at him intently.

Chrys let out a teasing smile and asked. "You're not jealous, are you?"

Morgan continued to stare at him silently, but the meter on her bow raised by two levels.

Chrys spread out his arms, like one that's about to perform a bear hug, and he said with a playful tone. "Don't be like that, Morgan. You know me better than that."

Morgan remained silent and just stood there without saying a word. But, her legs looks ready to run at a moments notice.

Chrys took a step foward while wearing his teasing smile with his arms still spread outward.

In response, Morgan took a step back while wearing her blank face, with her legs ready to bolt.

Seeing Morgan's actions, Chrys lowered his arms. He then said in a sincere and serious tone. "There's no need to be jealous, Morgan. Even if you placed all the gold in the world and all the beautiful women in this room right now..."

"I'll only see you."

In front of Chrys' seemingly honest statement, Morgan's meter on her bow jumped from yellow all the way to the red level.

Chrys took a step forwards toward Morgan. Morgan hesitated for a moment, but in the end, she took a step back.

After seeing Morgan's reaction, Chrys released a frown as he turned around and picked up a bloody blade.

It looks like the one he took a day earlier from the armory before he fought Miya and the others.

Chrys stared down at the bloodied blade in his grasp and asked. "Do you think there's another way?"

Morgan merely stared at his back and said nothing.

Unfazed by the fact Morgan didn't answer, Chrys continued. "Do you think there's an easier and better way to get what we want?"

Morgan kept up her silence as Chrys continued. "Do you think there will be a time... where we could trust others to keep their word?"

"Do you think there will come a time... where violence isn't the only answer?"

"Do you think this cycle will ever end?"

"Will there come a time... where people live a long and happy life?"

"Will the past always dictate the future?"

"Answer me, Morgan." Chrys said in a low and solemn voice.

Before Morgan answered, she looked at the room they were in.

It was a dimly lit room with cracks that run up the walls and ceilings. The floor was decorated with a pungent red fluid and the bodies of people.

Some are impaled to the walls by multiple arrows.

Some have round holes in their bodies, like something round and hot went through as the wound while was being cauterized.

Some are just a bloodied mess on the floor.

Some are missing body parts.

And some are laying on the floor with a truly terrified expression.

But all of them have one thing in common.

They are all dead.

Morgan then stared past Chrys, and looked at the object in front of him. It was a pyramid-like structure made from the same material that makes up the floor they stood on.

It looks like the floor moved and swallowed up a man, who is seemingly locked inside the pyramid, only what's left of his head is sticking out.

It looked like his head exploded from within, as the only part left from his head was the neck.

Morgan opened her mouth and said. "I don't think any of the things you said will come true."

"As making them happen would require remaking this world anew." Morgan continued.

Chrys looked at her with a helpless smile, and said. "I guess, your right."

Chrys then touched the pyramid structure with his hand, causing it to immediately explode.

After that, they left the building and began making their way through the destroyed settlement.

The situation inside is replicated outside with bodies littered everywhere.

Some have been shot with blue arrows.

Some have been impaled by spikes that came up from the ground.

And some have been crushed by parts of the buildings.

A little bit out of town, they entered the aircraft they used to get there in the first place.

Morgan sat on her chair while Chrys sat on his beside her. They then controlled the aircraft and left the place behind.

After a couple of hours, they eventually made it back home.

Under the cover of darkness, they camoflauged the aircraft before they went inside.

They walked down the massive halls, but before they could reach the T-junction in the middle, someone from the left hallway ran up to them.

It was a small, petite girl. She looks to be around the age of seventeen. And her short, pure white hair flowed in the wind. With her light blue eyes complementing her light skin.

"Lilly..." Morgan called out name of the girl as she approached closer.

Upon hearing her name get called, Lilly cheered as she went in for a hug. "Sister Morgan!"

They then embraced each other, like they haven't met in a long time.

While giving Morgan a tight embrace, Lilly said. "I knew I couldn't trust Goldie. He said you'll be back before sundown. That was a couple of hours ago."

Morgan then said in a monotonous, emotionless voice. "The return trip took some time."

While still hugging Morgan, Lilly looked to the side and stared at Chrys, who was just watching them from the side.

Lilly gave him a long and angry stare.

In response, Chrys just stuck his tongue out at her.

After a while, Lilly and Morgan separated from each other and composed themselves. Lilly took a deep breath and asked. "So, did you guys find out anything?"

Chrys looked at her and said. "We did. The Hunters told us who gave them the aircraft and who told them about the train."

After Chrys paused, Lilly asked. "Then, continue. I'm waiting."

Chrys took a long glance at Lilly before saying. "The one who gave them the aircraft and the information is..."

"A small, petite girl. That looks to be around the age of seventeen. Her long, pure white hair flowed down her back. And scarlet red eyes that contrasted with her light skin."

Lilly seeminly frozed over upon hearing the description.

After taking a moment of silence, Lilly asked. "Why would she do that? Isn't she working with 'them'?"

Morgan looked at her and said. "'They' probably wanted Chrys out of their train. So, 'they' ordered her to find a way to get him off without causing a commotion."

"They played their cards well. Now we don't know where the train went except for the fact that it went over to the direction of Titan." Chrys added.

Lilly closed her eyes and took a deep breath before she asked. "Did you find out anything else?"

Chrys shook his head and said. "Aside from the things we already know, nothing."

"So, what do we do now?" Lilly asked.

"Wait for Set and Celine to come back and follow our only lead. Titan." Chrys replied.

Lilly scratched her head and said. "Well, that will be quite a day."

Morgan then said. "Yes, so, we got to prepare."

"So, in two weeks time maybe more since Set and Celine needs some rest, we will visit Titan?" Lilly said, seemingly asking for confirmation.

Chrys gave her a nod and said. "Yes, in three weeks time. We will 'visit' Titan."

"Okay, I'll start preparing as soon as possible." Lilly said.

Lilly then looked at the two of them and said. "Well, let's eat first. The others are currently eating dinner."

Chrys and Morgan gave her a nod and followed her towards the dining room, where the usual chaos is happening.
