Chapter 39 End of the Path

The Paths shot another round of projectiles towards Chrys, who was still standing out in the open without any cover, holding a pillar of rock by his side.

Unlike before, the projectiles didn't go directly towards Chrys, but instead towards the pillar of rock he had his hand on.

The projectiles bore a hole into the pillar, which broke it in half. The once sturdy pillar that Chrys held was now only a pile of rubble.

Paths took this chance and began running towards one of the buildings, but his path was immediately blocked by a sudden rock wall.

"Just because I'm called 'Golden hands' doesn't mean I'm incapable without them." Chrys addressed him.

PATHS turned to look at him with bloodshot eyes. He stared at Chrys, and saw that the ground beneath his feet was glowing with a golden glow.

"Do you mind just telling me who ordered you to attack us? No, where are they? " Chrys calmly asked.

Paths, in response, shot another round of projectiles towards Chrys as he shouted. "Die!"

The projectiles hit Chrys' golden aura, which completely stopped it.

"Haa, can't you see it's useless?" Chrys sighed.

"Well, I didn't want to do this but... I'll have to take your legs," Chrys said, with a menacing aura surrounding him.

A moment later, a golden aura travelled through the ground. A second after that, a barrage of earth spikes raced towards Paths like a speeding bullet.

Paths turned around and tried to run away, but everywhere he looked it was the same. A deadly wall of spikes was heading straight towards him.

Paths extended his arm outwards, causing the chain scythe attached to his wrist to start clanging.

Paths grabbed the scythe head and threw it. Unlike before, he didn't throw it at the ground but instead into the air.

The scythe head severed the air as it traveled upwards. Paths made a downward motion on the chain that the scythe head was connected to.

A bunch of thrusters engaged on the scythe head, causing it to somewhat float in the air.

Paths did the same with the other scythe head. He threw it in the air and engaged its thrusters.

Once the scythe heads were suspended in the air, Paths pulled himself out of danger and into the air. Paths seemed to float in the air, thanks to the thrusters he activated.

Suddenly, he felt a gust of wind behind him. He turned in mid-air to look at the source.

An absolutely massive wall of earth reached for the clouds behind him, and said massive wall seemed to be falling towards him.

Paths grabbed one of the scythe heads and threw it to the side. But this action was futile, as the massive wall had already reached him.

The wall pressed down on him, crushing him down towards the ground.

A moment later, a gigantic crash sounded through the town. followed by a massive dust cloud.

Chrys waved his hand to the side, which caused the dust cloud to be swept to the side by a gust of wind.

And, for the first time in their fight, Chrys took a step forward.

He continued to walk until he was in front of Paths, who barely managed to survive his last attack, but his legs were not as lucky as the rest of his body.

His legs were crushed to a pulp by the earth wall as it came down, making it look like a bloody mess of flesh and bone.

"*cough**cough*" Paths coughed into his hands, causing blood to smear all over them.

He grabbed the side of his torso with his other hand as he lay on the ground. His ribs were also crushed thanks to the fall he endured.

Chrys stopped just before Paths' unmoving body.

Paths rolled over and stared at him with the same bloodshot eyes as before.

"Do you want to talk now?" Chrys asked.

Paths grabbed Chrys' leg without any resistance from Chrys, but his hands couldn't fully touch Chrys, as his golden aura blocked him.

"DIE!!" Paths screamed, as he gargled on his own blood. He drew his pistols, and shot towards Chrys' face.

The projectiles raced towards Chrys' face, but was blocked by his aura, right before it reached him.

Chrys, who didn't even seemed the least bit bothered, asked. "You're never going to talk to me, are you?"

"Die, you fucking murderer! I'll avenge my brother!!" Paths shouted as he dragged himself closer to Chrys.

"Haaaa, I see. I apologize. I'll put you to rest now." Chrys said as he reached for Paths' head.

A moment later, a pop was heard.

Chrys stood up straight and began to walk away. He stopped for a moment and looked to his right.

"I'll go and help the other side, I guess." Chrys said with a slightly defeated tone as he turned to the left.

Behind him, a massive wolf is emerging from a building and a pink light is falling down from the sky.

A couple of minutes ago, in a workshop building

Loki in his wolf form stared at Nessa as it emitted a low growl. Hela was watching from a distance, but seemed to be ready to move at any second. Nessa is frozen in fear, while holding Rose in the throat, who was struggling to set herself free.

Loki slowly opened it's gigantic mouth, revealing a row of massive pointed teeth. It aimed towards Nessa.

Nessa's fight or flight reaction engaged as she saw this. She moved Rose in between herself and Loki.

"Calm down, it's not the same one! Think, think of a way to survive this?!" Nessa screamed inwardly.

"This girl is with them, so they shouldn't hurt one of their own." Nessa thought to herself.

Just like she thought, Loki didn't attack Rose, and only growled at her. But, Nessa didn't account for the other person in the building, Hela.

Hela snuck behind Nessa, while she was distracted, and was now in arms reach.

Nessa noticed Hela a bit too late as Hela had her hand drawn back, ready to land a punch on Nessa's face.

Nessa, in the spur of the moment, moved Rose's body in between herself and Hela.

Hela stopped her attack after seeing this. But, during this little exchange, someone messed up, and it wasn't Hela.

It was Nessa, and she also knew it, but it was too late.

Now, Loki has no one in between it and Nessa.

Loki swiftly opened it's giant mouth and sunk it's teeth on Nessa's other arm, causing blood to spill everywhere.

Nessa felt an immense amount of pain as Loki's teeth dug into her flesh.

"I can't let go of this girl or this thing will eat me whole!" Nessa screamed to herself as she tightened her grip on Rose.

This made Rose unable to breathe again. Hela rushed in to try and help her, but Nessa swung Rose like a bat, which kept Hela away.

After seeing this, Loki adjusted his grip on Nessa arm and began to stand up.

It's massive body shook the building they're in. The walls began to crack, the floors crumbled as the ceiling began to fall apart.

After another second, the ceiling gave in, and began falling down beside Hela, who was left on the ground.

Loki continued to rise, until it was fully stood up, while still having Nessa in it's grasp with Rose in tow.

Loki looked down, before quickly looking upwards. Nessa and Rose felt the wind race through their face as they recognized what Loki was about to do.

Just as they feared, when they had enough upwards motion, Loki let go. They soared through the sky with enough force to continue going higher.

Nessa still held Rose firmly in her grasp, she held onto her like her life depended on it.

At this moment, Rose knew. This was the chance to break free. She tucked in her legs and kicked Nessa in the stomach.

Nessa felt the pain come from her abdomen, but she didn't let go off Rose, but instead held her tighter.

Rose felt the air go away, as she gasped for breath. At the last moment of desperation, Rose placed foot on Nessa's face, and pushed.

This action finally made Nessa, let go off Rose. Rose gasped for air as both of them began to fall.

Both of them realized this, and both began to think of a way to slow their decent.

"I'll just have to punch and the force of my weapon should slow me down." Nessa thought.

"My... flight. I need to fly." Rose said to herself.

Rose engaged her jetpack, which burned through her jacket, but that didn't matter to her now.

Rose then flipped herself and had her back facing the ground. She tucked herself in a fetal position as she set her jetpack to full.

As this was happening, Nessa arched her arm back and readied herself to punch downwards.

But, then she saw something she didn't think about once again, Loki.

Loki had it's mouth wide open ready to catch her in it's mouth. Nessa remembered how her attack didn't even make Loki flinch. She realized how hopeless it is to proceed with her original plan.

She then thought of a plan to save herself, and her thinking led her to look for Rose.

But Rose slowed herself enough that she was higher than Nessa could reach.

"Ha." Nessa let out a chuckle.

"Guess this is it." I can't wait to meet you guys again. " Nessa thought to herself as the faces of her siblings filled her mind.

She closed her eyes as she accepted her faith. Like how Loki closed its mouth as it accepted its meal.

After swallowing Nessa, Loki closed its mouth as it tried to catch Rose with its head.

Rose still had herself tucked in a ball as her jetpack emitted a pink fireball which slowed her descent.

She slowed herself enough that Loki gave up on helping her. Loki emitted a frosty mist as its body began to shrink.

After a while, Rose eventually landed on the ground. She turned off her jetpack, as she felt the ground press against her back.

She breathed a sigh of relief, but before she could stand up, she was picked up by a pair of hands.

Rose was fully ready to fight, but soon realized it was Hela who picked her up.

Hela set her down on her feet as she scanned Rose's body. After searching for her body, Hela saw that Rose's jacket had its back set on fire.

Hela tapped it out with her hands as she gave Rose a thumbs-up.

Rose returned a thumbs up, confused about what had just happened, and said. "Thank you."

Hela gave her a nod as she turned around and headed towards Loki, who is off to the side and is currently shrinking.

Rose double checked herself to make sure she was alright.

"Guess I need a new jacket." Rose commented after seeing the holes her jetpack made in her jacket.

She continued to check herself, but her face darkened when she saw something on her jacket.

On the side of her jacket, a blood stain could be seen. It was obvious who it belonged to. Rose attempted to rub the blood off of her jacket while wearing a look of desperation and fear.

She rubbed so furiously that it made enough noise to attract Hela's attention.

"Are you... okay?" Hela asked.

Rose formed a surprised expression before answering with a forced smile. "Ye-yes, I'm alright."

Hela gave her another nod as she picked up Loki, who had just thrown up a pile of bones in the corner.

Hela then picked up her axe and began heading out of the building.

After watching her for a moment, Rose looked down at the blood stain again. Once she saw it, her expression darkened, her smile disappeared, and her face was full of desperation and disgust.

After another second, Rose took her jacket off and threw it to the side. She followed Hela outside shortly afterward.
