Chapter 25

As an Elementary level six cultivator, Wei Yan was confident that he could take down the demon beast himself but he was just unsure what doing so would cost him in injuries. From his own estimate, if he took too heavy of an injury, he would just barely make it back to the camp but this would mean his mission would end in a failure.

And so, Wei Yan without hesitating to give the demon beast a chance to attack him, powered up and unleashed all of his spiritual energy, as he wanted to end this battle quickly. "Hey mister soldier, if you unleash all your energy like that, not only will the battle be harder, but you may attract some of that demon beast's nearby friends or followers. Then you would really be in trouble!"

Wei Tan's face became unsightly and gloomy as he heard the child's ill words towards how he handled fighting. He hadn't heard anything like this even from his captain who was considered a perfectionist. Lifting the sword above his head, as the demon beast pounced towards him, Wei Yan swung it downwards and even a hint of the Dao of Sword radiated from his sword.

As expected, his two hand sword was a rather decent quality treasure and easily defeated the demon beast. However, like the child's voice told him, using all of his energy into a single attack tired him out completely as Wei Yan sat down cross legged to begin recovering.

"I would rather just leave you to whatever it is you think you are doing here, but I would feel really bad leaving such a weakling to himself. It is just like the military to take in anyone and to just raise their soldier's cultivation and to not allow them to temper their newly found strength properly."

Just like he did earlier with the normal beast, the child quickly began taking apart the demon beast's corpse piece by piece including placing its demonic core into his storage ring. "My name is He Chao and although I am only of the Elementary level three of cultivation, just from the fact that I can utilize my spiritual energy, it is safe to assume that we are equally matched."

"If you have a medical pill that can assist you with regaining your lost strength, I would not hold back in using it. Very soon it will get dark and only three miles from here is the core region of this Demon Forest which houses four demon beast rulers. From your display from earlier, there is a chance they felt your spiritual energy and will send their subordinates over to capture you."

"You do not have to worry about that, because I will take it upon myself to make sure that you remain alive since I have a use for a cultivator of your cultivation level." Hearing the child's explanation of things pissed Wei Yan off to the extreme, but he had no choice but to rely on this person to assist him at least until he regained his strength.

Along the way to the child's living space Wei Yan tried to interrogate him, but nothing was working. At first, Wei Yan thought that the child would only be living out of a small cave, but instead what he saw was very shocking.

There were a total of three demon beasts all at the Elementary level three in cultivation sitting with each other in a large closed off space. To Wei Yan, it looked like a pavilion styled housing unit with a large mountain right behind it as well as walls on each side in order to shield the pavilion from any unwanted intruders.

"Hey everyone, I am back and even brought a new friend. I am sure that with his help, we will be able to dethrone that overbearing lion!" He Chao called out to the three beasts as they all got up and rushed towards the two humans. At first, Wei Yan crouched down slightly to get into a combat ready stance, but when he saw the gorilla, goat, and bear type demon beasts hugging and licking He Chao's face, he couldn't help but to sigh to himself as he shook his head.

Since when was a little brat able to tame three different demon beasts that all had different characteristics and personalities? Only the young masters of domineering clans would be able to use the warriors assigned to them to capture and over time tame just one or two, let alone three that were all seemingly strong enough to even give him a hard time if he chose to escape!

"It may seem strange, but when I first came into this place, I saw a lion type demon beast bullying these three for several days. After getting involved to assist them in escaping its wrath, I challenged all three to a duel and once I was able to overpower them, they all signed a contract with me. I know it seems strange, but risking my life should reap at least some type of reward, right?" He Chao asked Wei Yan casually as he led him inside to sit down.

"With your strength and three demon beasts under your control, you would be given a good rank in the army, how about you head back with me and I can get you set up?" Wei Yan asked He Chao as He Chao began skinning a dead demon beast to begin cooking a nice meal for the group.

"I do not do well with others, and there is no reason why I would put myself and these three companions of mine in danger for just a payday. Anyways, have you figured out yet why I have decided to bring you here?" He Chao asked with a strange expression on his face that looked between disappointed and aggravated.

"With your current level of cultivation, you could be the bait for that lion type demon beast that has ruled over this small area for over two thousand years. It has more combat experience than all of us combined, but it is only equivalent to a Elementary level five human cultivator in sheer strength and speed. If you were to help us battle and slay it, these three companions of mine could live in peace which in turn would halt so many demon beasts invading so often."
