The Dream Space

I had tied everyone to a tree and had Frost sleep beside me. When I finally fell asleep with worry I found myself in the place I came to so many times. I was once again in that galaxy like space with the stars in the distance.

"I still need to find out what's up with this place. I'm clearly not a wizard and I'm questioning if I'm even a warlock."

A small star floated towards me. It was not of many colors like the one from years ago but rather a simple shade of grey. I was starting to wonder if I would only ever get one star but it seems I was wrong. The little grey star zapped into my chest as pain filled me. It was so bad as the markings on my hands glowed the color grey.

But I didn't wake up. I was still here and wanted more. I needed power this place gave it to me. I needed confidence and it came with the ice wolf. But what I needed now was knowledge. The knowledge of how my powers worked and how to make the most of the place.

I sat down like I would when absorbing mana while awake. I thought of only the knowledge and felt something. It grey in size slowly and when I opened my eyes a large book with intricate carving all over it floated before me. But just as I touched it I woke up.

"Wake Up. Hey kid we have business to do." One of the, yelled at me while the rest agreed with him.

The sun seemed to have been up for a few hours as I looked at them.

"If I'm sleeping don't wake me up unless you want death." I said coldly without even noticing.

The man felt a shiver go up his back as he felt the boy had changed. I walked and untied them.

"Okay lets begin." I said pulling my dagger out.

One by one we each made the same pact.

"I Artemis shall set the rules for this contract. You shall not bring any harm upon my in any way or form as that goes with telling someone of my plans or betraying me. By doing anything of the such death is your punishment and not a quick one. You shall also follow each of my orders given with the will to decide if you agree with them or not." I said slow as they listened each time.

"I agree." They would each say and a symbol formed on their hand looking as a chain.

"Great now you can't betray me and I know you weren't lying." I said turning to the girl tied to another tree.

"Well we should probably get going." I said untying her.

Nothing needed packing and Frost went to his scroll for my own comfort. The men distanced themselves from me and the girl walking behind us about twenty or so feet. I wasn't sure why but I might have something to do with them being contracted to me and not wanting death.

"So what's your name." I asked her as we walked and her short legs struggled to keep up.

"Zoe." She said in a whisper.

"Well I'm Artemis. If need anything just ask." I said looking behind us.

"Besides in the end I'm getting paid to protect you considering I can't afford to lose you now." I whispered into her ear.

She looked at me weirdly then and back up the road. We were heading towards the nearby mountains with trees covering the entire mountain. If the deal went smoothly I would only have to fight a few soldiers to escape with the money. If something went wrong I would have to use the full extent of my power to end things there.

We made slow progress with the guys taking the lead eventually and us making camp for another night. We had no tents and little food but they caught a boar that night and nothing was left but bones. That night I slept and entered the galaxy like space once more.

The book was still here and I couldn't wait to use it. Just as I was going to touch it flew open flapping through pages landing on one page that caught my eye.

"This. This is magic." I said stunned looking at the page spells.

"Enhancement Magic. Speed, strength," I started reading through them as they got more complex.

So many spells to pick from. The book seemed to make the spell as the pages turned and each time they got stronger and more complex.

"Yes." I shouted excitedly looking through them.

I started testing the enhancement magic for speed and after a few tries got it to work. I felt lighter and felt like air. Then I tried the one with strength that was easier and found my body felt more dense and stronger. I moved the pages some more finding so many spell.

"That looks interesting." I said as the page glowed showing a summoning spell.

"Too bad I can't test it here." I said reading over it.

Drop some blood from a finger and you have to move your arm quickly and a spell circle choice form. It showed a picture of skeletons coming from the circle as I thought I could do far better. I looked even more not wasting time taking glimpses of each page. Shadow step, light slash, earth trap, blue flame strike.

I stopped at the last one and find it confusing. I wanted to use blue flames as well but just couldn't find out how. It seemed it covered a weapon in blue thick flames and if a deep enough slash hit your opponent they would burn from the inside out in flames unless they removed the injured limb in time.

I would have to try that before a fight to test it. Finally I felt it coming to a end as my head pounded.

"So much knowledge." I muttered and woke up once again.

'Too bad I can't enter while awake or even control when I do.' I thought as the rangers waited for me.

"Today we get rich." I said getting leading the way.

We ha dale put at the bottom of the mountain and walked all the way up until we were half way. The pine trees dropped their pokey leafs every were as they were spread out. Sunlight come from above with ease as we approached over a small mound. A man wearing medals and military dress uniform looked at me as his crown made of jewel sat on his head.

Behind him twenty men all seeming very strong held their sheathed sword at their waist waiting for a command. He sat on a chair under a small no wall tent.

"Nice to see that you arrived." The crown prince said looking at me.

"Where's the dukes son." I asked not getting to close.

The rangers held the girl from running forward as they seemed worried.

"I'm afraid his busy in a war. However he is like a brother to me so I came in his stead." The prince said holding his hand up slightly the men let go of their swords.

"The chest there has eighty gold coins. Check for yourself." He said as I waved one of the rangers to check the chest between the two of us.

"All good lots of gold." The ranger said picking the chest up with one arm. Luckily the coins aren't very big and the chest seemed small.

"Now the girl." The prince said calmly.

"We'll send her back once we are a little away." I said backing up.

"Sorry but I don't trust you enough for that." He said raising his other arm up.

All his men drew their sword making one big shriek of metal. They then formed a half circle ahead of us.

"Too bad." I said drawing both my dagger.

The prince stood up and whistled and figures in small robes walked from behind the trees.

"Of course he brought wizards." I muttered looking around.

About ten wizards in robes blue, red and green raised their wands. Then thuds started coming from all over as knights dropped from above drawing their swords.

"Sir." One of the rangers said pulling a knife to the girls throat.

"We will kill her." I said looking at everyone.

"If you do that then you die as well." The crown prince said.

"Let my men go free and leave me here." I said looking at the rangers.

"Why should I." He said.

I pulled the girl from the ranger.

"Let them go and it's just me and the girl. You get the girl and the criminal." I said.

"Whatever. We'll just hunt them down in the future." He said signaling to let them go.

"Sir why." The ranger asked looking at me worried.

"You really should go you know." I said and they started running with the chest.

"Okay hand the girl over then we kill you." The prince said taking a seat again.

"Go on." I said pushing her forward as a knight held and took her to the prince.

"Okay kill him now." The prince said.

"Sorry but I'm not ready to die." I said raising my arms as the spells varying in colors and elements struck against a barrier.

The barrier shattered but the spells paused just long enough to take the offensive. I jumped in the air throwing dagger hoping to god his worked just from a glimpse. The dagger landed behind a knight and I teleported to were the dagger landed.

'Maybe I'm too lucky.' I thought stabbing the knight through the back and chest. I had twenty solider attacking me as I blocked their swords with my hands and slowly took them down through slashing their arms and chests. The knights formed a out circle as their sword glowed a rain white light.

"No you don't." I said as dozens of flaming swords formed around me burning and striking the soldiers.

But the soldiers managed to parry the attack mostly with minor damages. I stomped my foot against the ground as ice came from it like ink trapping everyone near me. But I forced more mana I into it completely covering a few in ice.

"He can use opposite elements." A wizard yelled from somewhere.

I activated my speed and strength enhancements and blocked the sword landing attacks toward me will dodging the heavy hitters.

"His to agile." I might grunted as I kicked him back five feet.

I started pulling he wind making it twirl around me like wipes and slashed against everyone near me. But they kept on attacking as the prince walked away with the girl. I fell to the ground and placed my hand down into the mud from melted ice. Shadows formed around me as I stood up and took a step.

I felt dizzy for a moment as I walked out from a nearby trees shadow. The few knights left were blown to the ground as their sword flew from their hands. The wizards stood together looking at me as they raised their wands in sync.

"Crap." I said as large fire balls and ice shards along with earth spears flew towards me in the blink of a eye.

The barrier I formed shattered and I was thrown backwards in the air landing on the ground injured all over. I waved my hand feeling my mana depleted almost.

Another barrage of attacks come at me as I shadow stepped from a tree much further away taking all my mana.

I was on the other side of the mountain and I summoned Frost. He jumped from his scroll and held me up as I fell.

"Get is out of here buddy." I said blacking out.

This chapter was a 2000 words long. I didn’t mean to however I can say I will must come back to look for any miss spell later. It was 2000 words long there will be miss spells for the first few days of its release until I find them all.
