Prologue

In a world brimming with enchantment, magic weaves through every fiber of existence, shaping and molding the fabric of reality. For as long as history can remember, the arcane arts have been a defining aspect of this extraordinary realm. Among its residents, there are those who possess an innate gift for wielding these mystical powers, transcending the ordinary limitations known to mortal practitioners. These prodigies, hailed as God's Chosen, hold the key to unimaginable potential.

Enter our protagonist – an unassuming individual whose humble beginnings give little indication of the astonishing destiny that lies ahead. Unbeknownst to them, they possess an unprecedented mastery over every form of sorcery; a cosmic secret intertwined with their very soul. As the story unravels, so too does the mystery of their extraordinary power – and with it, the delicate balance between good and evil teeters on the edge in this magical world.

"I can't be this late. I swear the sun was just up a few minutes ago." A young boy about seven cursed at himself about being in the woods so late.

Night was the time when magical beasts and evil beings entered the world. And when the night takes over your in the woods your only chance it to run or fight.

Rapid footsteps crashed through the forest as more came to join. The boy was running faster than his legs could carry as he felt something gaining behind him.

"Watch out." Someone shouted and a loud clang could be heard behind the boy.

When the boy turned around he saw a older adventure in his leather armor holding his sword blocking the attack of a big hound. Five more large hounds with red flames on their backs gathered as the man pushed back the hound. I the man jumped backwards ten feet to the boy effortlessly.

"Stay behind me." He said, not once taking his eyes off the hounds.

The hounds started moving forward in a group as the man plunged his sword into the ground. The hounds seemed worried as they tried to run slamming into each other. The earth from where the sword was plunged crackled with blue flames as the ground broke apart into cracks chasing the hounds as the flames came from below.

"I can't hold them for much longer." The man said as the cracks stopped as if out of range. The man was sweating balancing himself on his sword.

The hounds started to spread out around the forest looking through the trees. They were waiting for He man to weaken.

"We need to get out of here." The man said pulling the sword from the ground as the hounds charged forward with a new chance.

The man blacked the first attack slicing the jaw of the hound but another jumped on his back. Three more rushed forward as he used the last bit of strength to wiggle onto his back blocking the fatal attacks. Two of the hounds turned to the boy as their flames glowed in the night. Their eyes glowed with evil with a dark red.

"No, no." The boy said as the earth rumbled around and the wind picked up speed.

"No more death." The boy screamed as he blacked out.

However what happened would be a mystery to the world. The hounds were thrown into the air as the wind cracked against them like wipes. In only four seconds all the hounds were dead but the man lay there unmoving as his soul left this world.

The next day a few villagers found the boy around the corpses of the hounds and man. The man was an adventurer who came to their town to enjoy retirement. But the boy didn't have a scratch on him making them think the man defeated the hounds saving the boy.

This is where the story of Artemis Hounds began. Three years had passed but I still wondered what happened that night. The man was already on the verge of death and yet I survived. But I just can't figure it out. I walk down along the trail filled with snow as the bare trees give no cover from the wind and cold.

I desperately need to find something to hunt or I'll freeze and starve this winter. These people might act nice now, but when winter hits, everyone's just cold and hungry. And why would they bother helping someone like me anyway? I trudged through the barren forest, completely blanketed in a thick layer of snow.

This is my first book I have written for people to read. I can't say how far it will go but I want to enjoy writing. so please wait to decide until the tenth chapter.

each chapter is 1000 words at minimum no matter what. I might not have many chapters but the work and how big each chapter is plays a part to that.
