The Fortress (3)

Sebastian walked closer to the skeleton sitting on the chair.

Upon closer inspection, he realized it was likely a woman, based on the shape of the bones and the long robes.

Her hands still held the dagger, and traces of dark blood coated the blade, showing she had taken her own life.

The woman's attire marked her as someone of importance, perhaps a ruler or prominent official within the castle. But of course, he couldn't inquire that much from the few clues he had.

What drew Sebastian's attention the most was the golden amulet resting on her ribcage.

While everything else around them decayed and crumbled with age, the amulet remained intact. The gold still gleamed lustrously, without a speck of dust or tarnish.

<Weird… >

Sebastian approached the skeleton with caution. The golden amulet around its neck glistened almost menacingly in the torchlight.
