Accepting Reality

Max slowly walked to his kitchen and with trembling hands he grabbed a kitchen knife. He gulped and took a few deep breaths. Max closed his eyes and without even thinking twice he cut his thumb. It was far deeper than he thought he would get. His thumb… it fell off.

Max instantly dropped the knife and groaned in pain. "AHHHH!" He screamed and got on his knees while holding the injured area to try and stop the bleeding.

"Does it even hurt…? Your endurance is beyond humans." The Ball asked a little confused.

It was true… Max should only feel pain comparable to a scratch. He was just being dramatic.

"Shut up!"

The bleeding suddenly stopped and Max's thumb started to regenerate as well as the blood that he bled away.

"Do you believe me now?" Ball asked, floating near his face.

"..." Max thought of denying it but his blood and thumb he cut off was still laying on the ground and his thumb had completely regenerated.

"Just… what is the meaning of this?" Max asked as he sat on the chair close by with his face on his palms.

"You are God. Is it that hard to believe?" The ball asked, floating around Max restlessly.

"Of course it is. But- It is what it is… I have been told by my phystriacts to avoid overthinking so I will just accept this." Max paused for a second "For now."

"I see… would you like to continue making the world or-"

"That will depend on the answer you will give to my question." Max interrupted, "If I decide to just stay in that place forever and not come here will I die because this body will do absolutely nothing in this world?" He asked with a serious face.

"I cannot answer that. I am not sure myself if the body you have in this origin is different from the origin you created or not. There may be a possibility if you die here you will die there as well. That also means vice versa."

"...I see…" Max looked down disappointedly. If only he could escape. He stayed quiet for a couple of seconds and finally shook away all the negative thoughts.

"Wait… you said you were me, right? What does that mean?" Max asked curiously looking at the floating ball.

"A fraction of you- or to be exact your power. You are aware God is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent, right?"

"Yes, I am aware of that… I think everyone is."

"Then simply think of me as the aspect of omniscience and omnipresence while you are the aspect of omnipotence. Your survival instincts separated a part of the power and put that into me. I am your consciousness in a way. A portion of it at least."

"And why did I do that? If I had omniscience I would have accepted the truth more easily…."

"A mortal knowing everything and anything as well as being everywhere yet nowhere… Do you think you can handle it? You might have been in that world but here you would have gone insane."

"OH… well I suppose that makes sense. Wait… so if I am God… I should be abl-"

"No." Ball cut Max off in the middle "Due to cosmology differences you can harness only very little power and influence here you originally have in that world."

"I seeeeEEEEEE!!!???" Max ended up shouting as he looked at the time. He was already late, to begin with, but he was now more late. He was exactly 45 minutes late.

Max did not waste a single moment and picked up his bag and keys again. He opened the door and the moment he did he was greeted by a roar from a large pile of flesh and bones. He had a lizard-like skull on its face. The smell from the body itself was disgusting, similar to a corpse rotting and the smell from the roar was even more disgusting; by a thousand times if nothing.

Max instantly closed the door but it did not help. The monsters passed through the door and wall. It crawled towards the fallen Max with its centipede-like arms.

Max quickly crawled away and got up with the help of a table. With a trembling body, he rushed to grab the knife from earlier but the creature was faster. The creature jumped at Max and he tried to stop it by putting his right hand toward its head but the creature opened its mouth and ate his arm.

Max screamed in pain but somehow managed to run away once again while yelling "How do I escape it!?"

"Escape?" The ball asked following Max side by side, "Why not defea-"

"I don't have time for questions and answers, just tell me how to escape!" Max yelled as his arms slowly started to regenerate.

"Very well. Then say "Return to the semi-spiritual realm" and you will retu-" Before Ball finished its words Max repeated what the Ball said.

"Return to the semi-spiritual realm!" Max shouted terrified as he put his hands up on guard as he saw the creature jumping on him.

Max had his hands up in a defensive stance similar to boxers for a solid three seconds before the voice of Ball transmitted directly into his head.

"You are in a realm that is between the humanly and spiritual realms. The creature could not harm you here. Of course you could not harm it either."

Hearing that, Max slowly put his hands down and gently tapped his face while mumbling "I am going crazy… I surely am."

Max let out another sigh before looking at his arm which was still being regenerated. If it was not for that he would have once again refused to believe the truth. After all, the thumb and blood from earlier were still in the spiritual realm… and the fact that the monster kept trying to harm him but it just passed through his body all the time made him believe it was true.

Max took a bath once again and dressed up in new clothing before driving to his university. The ball followed him quietly while also guiding him because his vision was flooded with those monsters.

"I think it would have been better to die back then… professor and my friends will kill me even more painfully by their nagging…" Max whined weakly as he drove.
