C36 Placed In Several Weird Situations 1/2

The burning sun, together with the ferocious wind laid on my bare skin, the continuous peeling and healing, the nature vs my power.

It was quite the battle of perseverance and I was losing.

"Are we there yet!?"

"We're close...About 1 kilometer left!"

Still on top of the 'monster truck', enduring the heat of the sun which I was never used to receiving

I was pampered at home and it has cost me this.

My skin was too delicate for long hours of sun bathing. My mana was almost depleted I can no longer cast powerful heals on myself.

"How far is one kilometer!?"

"Close!"

Ignorance is a misery.

I should have at least did research on simple things like distance. Earlier she said it was 10 kilometers away and now we're finally riding the last kilometer.

Just how big is this city?

Although it was still part of the city, you can't really see anyone populating this area. It was just a very long road and walls at the side keeping the real monsters from coming in.

The factory really was a top secret place or so I was told. We went underground a few kilometers earlier and from there was like a maze tunneling all the way to another long road.

If I were to go back by myself, I would sure get lost.

While my eyes were still on the road, the walls on the sides suddenly widened and a fortress appeared at the edge of the horizon.

That must be it!

"Is that the factory?"

"I don't know! I've never been to the factory!... Is that the factory?"

She ask the girl beside her.

"No! That's our villa!"

They have a villa in the middle of the dessert? Not really a dessert but still...

It was Fio who was next to Puchi.

The three of us were sitting on top of a big tire which was fix on the roof of the monster truck, Puchi at the middle and on her left was me and on her right was Fio. Fio woke up after a few hours of sleep a while ago. We were shouting because the wind was already ringing our ears deaf.

Minutes passed and we arrived at the gates of their villa.

Their villa was like the usual tall buildings you can see back at the city. Quite shorter than the hotels, but does not lose in style.

Our ride went through the gates easily and entered a wide room which I think was a place where the truck was meant to be stored.

"Were here, let's go inside to discuss a plan."

We got off the monster truck and walked towards their villa.

There was still quite a distance before the door to the building so I asked them:

"How come you two are not burning from all the heat?"

Their skin was still in perfect condition compared to mine which was red all over.

Although my skin was more sensitive than theirs, theirs should at least have some damage because it was especially hot after the tunnel where no plants were growing wildly unlike back at central city.

"I had a shield up for me and Fio. You had one too right?"

"Yes, I did have one but I ran out of power half way. How come you didn't run out of mana?"

With her small build, her mana would have depleted first before mine. It must be the circlet she has on her head.

How much power does that thing hold, I wonder?

"I'm a Goddess why would I run out of mana? I'm one of the sources of your power-Hey! I'm telling the truth! Don't just walk away like you didn't hear me!"

The entrance was already at reached so I ignored the self proclaimed Goddess as she explained unbelievable truths and followed Fio who was walking before us.

"Ari, prepare something to eat we haven't eaten anything since yesterday. Disregard my diet for the week, my caregiver is dead anyway, today were having a feast!"

Ari who opened the door for us quickly left for the kitchen as ordered.

"Yes! Finally! I haven't had proper for two and a half weeks now! I'll gladly accept your offering!"

"Puchi! You're being rude right now."

"Why me?! And stop calling me Puchi!"

"Why do you think!?"

Fio kept quiet while walking leading us to a metallic door at the corner of the building.

She stood still in front of the door of the room as if she was waiting for something.

"Hey! Answer me!"

"Can't you be more quiet-Wah!"

I jolted in surprise.

The metallic door opened without anyone doing anything!

"What? Why do you look like you've never seen an elevator?"

"Elavator? So this is an elavator?... It's magic! It's magic right!? I never knew magic could be used this way!"

"I don't think so… "

Fio stood confused and everted her eyes to Puchi as if to ask her why I was reacting this way.

"She's a sheltered child so… Anyway, let's go in."

We entered the elevator I couldn't help but be amazed of how they make use of magic even in such situations.

I've already seen a elevator back at the hotel I was staying but I've never seen one that opens automatically. There was always a person pushing buttons with numbers on them and this one had a different colored door. It was metal but darker.

"Of course I've seen an elevator! This is the time where they say, 'Which floor would you like to go miss?'... Where are the bottons?"

"It's automated. See that? That's a camera where a person watches us from, and that person controls the elevator."

So there was still a person who pushes the buttons after all.

"But if the person is in the camera then my guess was right! He uses magic to push the buttons!"

"..." x2

The two stared at me with disappointment and after a while Puchi smiled, holding back her laughter.

What? What did I do? Did I guess wrong?

*ting!

"Let's just go…"

Fio said and led us to another door. This time it was a wooden door.

And once again, she stood still in front of it as if she waiting for something to happen.

I prepared myself for I already know what will happen next!

...

"pfft! Hahahaha!"

Puchi who was holding back her laughter finally burst.

"What? What? What's funny?"

"Nothing! I'm sorry! It's nothing! pfft! Hahaha!"

"Hey what? tell me!"

"pfft! sorry! I couldn't hold it either! Hahahaha!"

Fio who actually too, was holding back burst into laughter and leaned on the door while catching her breath together with Puchi.

And me still confused about why they were laughing, was forcing a smile trying to go along with them.

Like the friend who doesn't understand anything and just laughs like an idiot because her friends were laughing too, but in my case, I'm still at the point where the I'm smiling wide for no reason.

Yes, that's what I look like right now.

"Hahahaha!" x2

It was already starting to annoy me because I'm really getting the feeling that they were laughing at me.

I let out a serious expression and laugh together with them in a robotic way. A sarcastic way.

"Ha ha ha."

"Haha-ehem…"

Realizing it, the two calmed down. Fio cleared her throat and stood still once more.

I readied myself again and…

"Pffft! Hahahaha! Please stop!"

"Pffft! That wasn't my intention! I'm just waiting for the maid to bring the key! Hahahaha!"

"Oh! I thought it was 'automated' like the elevator."

So that's why they were laughing?

I was puffing my chest out and was a bit stiff because she said we were being watched by a person inside a camera. And there were lots of cameras around the ceiling of this building.

I'm used to doing this back in my country. This was the proper posture when displaying oneself to the public. At least this was how I was taught to behave.

"Relax Char, no one's going to get angry even if you roll around the floor or anything. Besides, this room we're entering is not really that important. No one's inside it, just some-"

She paused for a bit after a maid came running towards us and passed something to Fio.

Fio used that something to open the door.

Guess what it was?

Yes! A key! A really tiny key! it was no bigger than a man's thumb. How could such a tiny key open a really big room filled with…

*Eeek!

"Cushions?"

"No."

"Giant pillows! Waaaah! So soft! This is like the softest thing on earth! I love this!"

"Right! We really get along! It's the softest cushions you will ever find in the entire world! Not that the whole world is still populated like before though."

Puchi dove into the pool of pillows and disappeared deep into the ground.

"How deep does this pool go?"

"Deep."

She answered.

Deep?

"How deep is 'deep'?"

"Really deep."

What in heavens does that even mean!?

"She might not even come back anymore. If she's not used to swimming without water that is."

"What do you mean by that?... Fio? Why would she not be able to come back?... Fio?! HEY!!"

I was starting to get worried by how Fio was acting.

She was smiling creepily, staring at the spot where Puchi dove earlier.

"Try it for yourself Char, see how hard it is to swim on pillows this soft… I once drowned in there. Good thing Ari noticed I disappeared and came looking for me. She found me after three days already unconscious. It's really hard to breathe once you sink to the bottom."

"What the hell Fio!?"

"Hey! What are you doing! Be careful! It's-"

I dove right into the pool without thinking in attempt to save Puchi.
