Cap⁶ First day of school.

Today is the long-awaited day for Glegory. His enthusiasm is so overwhelming that he could barely sleep, his mind filled with expectations and unsettling events unfolding in the city.

Glegory gets out of bed, restless, and rushes to the kitchen. –"Finally, the time has come to go to school! I can't wait any longer,"- he exclaims anxiously.

The noise coming from the kitchen wakes up his grandmother, who looks out confused and asks, -"What are you doing, Glegory?"- The young boy responds agitatedly, -"I'm trying to prepare some breakfast before going to school."-

The grandmother smiles, amused by the chaos Glegory has created, and says, -"Glegory, sit down. I'll take care of preparing something for you. Just wait a little before you go."-

Glegory obeys and sits down, waiting for his meal. When the grandmother finishes cooking, she serves him breakfast. While Glegory eats, she addresses him again solemnly, -"Glegory, remember to behave properly at school. There will be many children who will try to hit and humiliate you, but you must resist, don't fall into their game."-

Glegory looks up and locks eyes with his grandmother. Full of determination, he asks, -"Why should I allow them to harm me, grandma?"-

-"Because they are cowards, Glegory. If you respond to them with violence, you would become one of them. You are not a coward, right?"- his grandmother responds defiantly.

-"No, I will never be a coward, grandma. I'll prove it,"- Glegory responds with determination.

After finishing his breakfast, Glegory hurries to change and get ready for school. He doesn't have the school uniform because his family is extremely poor and cannot afford that luxury. Instead, he wears humble clothing, handmade by his grandmother and Aunt Aina. Despite its simplicity, Glegory pays no attention to it. After getting ready, he approaches Beltrán's bed and excitedly announces, -"Today, I'm attending school for the first time, uncle."-

Beltrán opens his eyes and looks at him, letting out a chuckle. –"Well, well, you look fancy, Glegory. I'm sure you'll soon get a girlfriend. Ha, ha, ha..."-

-"I'm not going to school to find girlfriends, uncle. My goal is to learn. Make that clear,"- Glegory responds determinedly.

Beltrán laughs again and says, –"Alright, I get it. I just hope you don't get into trouble at school, ha, ha, ha. Behave yourself."-

Glegory looks straight at his uncle and replies with a tense promise, -"Yes, I promise to behave. Don't worry. And when I come back, I hope to find you less sick."- Without wasting time, Glegory rushes out of the room, his words filled with urgency, –"I'm running late, I have to go. Goodbye, uncle."-

Bidding a hurried farewell to his family, Glegory heads to school with palpable nervousness, running anxiously to discover what awaits him. As he approaches the school building, his eyes fill with joy at the sight of numerous children and teachers heading towards the same destination. But something doesn't fit. The other children are dressed in personalized outfits, with fine fabrics, gold embroideries, and vibrant colors, intensifying his desolation. As he ventures inside, he tries to make friends but only receives looks of disdain. Desperate, Glegory attempts to strike up a conversation and discover the talents and abilities of others, but only finds indifference and rejection. He anguishes over why the children avoid him.

At that moment, an obese child approaches him and compassionately murmurs, –"Don't worry, it's normal. I'm also avoided because I'm obese and repulsive. And from what I see, you're poor and don't dress like them. They despise you for that reason. But don't worry, if you need someone to talk to, I'll always be here."-

-"Can we really be friends?"- Glegory stammers with a mixture of hope and longing.

-"Yes, if you want, we can be friends. By the way, what's your name?"- the child responds.

-"I'm Glegory. And you, what's your name?"- Glegory timidly replies.

-"I'm Jarcias. Nice to meet you, Glegory. I hope we can get along,"- the child responds.

-"The pleasure is mine, Jarcias. Let's go to class, I think they're about to start,"- Glegory suggests.

-"Yes, let's go, we're a bit late,"- Jarcias nods.

Jarcias and Glegory spend the whole day together, sharing interests, hobbies, and talents. When it's time to go home, they decide to leave together. As they leave the school, Glegory asks Jarcias excitedly, -"Do you have any abilities or do you use magic?"-

Jarcias responds with a hint of disappointment, -"Well, I don't have any special abilities or powers. I'm not very good, but I do know some magic, although I'm not very skilled at it."-

Glegory is surprised and eagerly asks, -"Could you show me some magic?"-

Jarcias agrees and says, -"Yes, watch my hand closely."- Glegory fixates his gaze on Jarcias' hand and suddenly sees dry ice appear in his palm. The impression leaves Glegory speechless.

They continue their conversation as they walk. When they approach the school's exit, five furious boys appear in front of them. They all look elegant and refined. One of them addresses Jarcias disdainfully, -"So, you found a friend just like you, huh, pig?"-

Unfazed, Jarcias responds, -"No, Glegory is much more amazing than me. And don't call me a pig, I have a name."-

-"You say he's more amazing than you, but you're not amazing at all, pig? I bet your pig friend doesn't even know how to fight,"- another boy from the group taunts.

Jarcias, defending his friend, retorts, -"You can say whatever you want about me, but don't speak ill of Glegory."-

-"And if I don't want to, what will you do, pig? Will you and your pig friend hit me?"- the boy challenges.

-"I'm going to hit you,"- Jarcias declares.

-"Let's see you try, pig,"- the boy challenges.

In the blink of an eye, Jarcias reacts and punches the boy in the face. The boy quickly retaliates, delivering a blow back, and calls his friends to join the attack. Filled with fury, Glegory tries to hit one of them but remembers his grandmother's words and stops. However, one of the five boys notices Glegory's attempt and approaches with malice, telling the others, -"It seems like this pig also wants to be beaten up along with his pig friend. What do you say, guys? Should we teach this pig some manners?"-

Another boy responds cruelly, -"I think so, we should teach this pig a lesson."-

And so, a rain of blows begins on Glegory and Jarcias, who find themselves defenseless against the cruel attack.

Anger and helplessness consume them as the five boys mercilessly continue to beat them.

Glegory and Jarcias can do nothing but endure the blows, hoping that their assailants will tire themselves out. But suddenly, they catch a glimpse of a teacher passing by. Glegory shouts at the top of his lungs, —"TEACHER, HELP! THESE BOYS ARE BEATING US!"— The teacher hears the cries but only glances at them for a moment and continues on his way.

Indignant at the teacher's indifference, Glegory stops asking for help. Finally, the five attackers decide to flee the scene, leaving Glegory severely battered and Jarcias in a critical state. Glegory, seeing the seriousness of Jarcias' condition, rushes to his aid, carefully lifts him up, and asks, -"Where do you live?"- Jarcias points in the direction, and Glegory hurries to take him home.

Upon arriving at Jarcias' house, Glegory tells everything to his family, but Jarcias' mother responds coldly, -"I don't care what happens to that worm, leave him there and go. I don't want to see you here anymore."-

-"But he is your son,"- Glegory argues.

-"And because he is my son, I can do whatever I want with him. Now, go away,"- the mother replies without any empathy.

Glegory leaves Jarcias at his home and heads to his own house. As he walks, his wounds begin to heal rapidly since he has the ability to regenerate quickly. When he arrives home, he goes straight to his room, filled with anger. His family worries about him, and his grandmother asks, –"How was school, Glegory?"-

-"Horrible, school is a disaster,"- Glegory responds with frustration.

-"I know school is not perfect, but you should keep attending, Glegory, so you can learn more,"- his grandmother advises.

-"I'll keep going just for you, Grandma, but school is a terrible place,"- Glegory answers resentfully.

His grandmother worries about him but leaves him alone, waiting for his anger to subside, while Glegory can't stop thinking about what happened and asks himself, -"Why are people like this? This world is cruel. I hate it, I wish it didn't exist."-

With those thoughts in his mind, Glegory leaves his room and heads towards the forest. As he walks, he discovers a beautiful place, filled with grass, animals, and trees. In the distance, he catches sight of a small pond with fish swimming. He approaches, sits on a rock, and reflects, –"What a beautiful place. I find peace here. I think I'll come here after school to relax a bit."-

Nightfall approaches, and after spending some time in that place, Glegory returns home. He enters his room and lies down on his bed. Quickly, tiredness overcomes him, and he falls into a deep sleep, exhausted from the challenging experiences he went through.
