Giving The Female Lead A Happy Ending At All Costs To Save My Soul

Katarina had a picture perfect life: everlasting wealth, a loving husband, and everything she could ever want, but it all ended when she caught him and sister in bed together! To top it all, her husband ended up killing her after completely ruining her life. Luckily for her, she was granted a second chance to live. But, there was ONE clause. Katarina woke up in a story, as the main character of the book. In order to leave the story and return to her original life, she has to grant the female lead a happy and satisfying ending no matter what. The story’s female lead’s life was quite pathetic. She was blind, weak and bullied, and her betrothed who she was supposed to get married to, is fucking female lead’s step sister right under female lead’s nose. Katarina didn’t expect this quest to be an easy one, but she also didn’t expect it to be complicated to the extent of people wanting the weak female lead dead. ——— | ——— “Do I look like a fucking baby sitter to you?” He demanded, sounding as outraged as he looked. I let out a frustrated breath, knowing I was in no place to flare up since I’m the one in need right now. “No, your highness, you do not.” “Then why do you keep asking me t–” “Because my life is on the line!” I exclaimed urgently. His eyes narrowed and he scoffed. “What has that got to do with me? Do I look like I care? Cause I promise you that I do not.” “Because you need me, your highness. You know you do, even though you refuse to admit it.” I blurted out. A scowl settled on his handsome face. “Stop saying nonsense, you delusional weirdo.” “We both need each other and that’s the truth, so it’s best I don’t lose my life just yet, don’t you think so?”

Trina Meets Jane

Katarina's POV

He nodded before I started to take up the pieces of the mess and clear up the room.

A few hours later, he had her fired as she grunted before leaving the palace, but not before being tried for almost killing the prince which landed her in jail.

One would think that was the end of my problems but it was just the beginning. For some strange reason, I was still the most hated maid even when I was blind.

Each day brought new trials and tribulations, testing my strength.

The maids engaged in relentless acts of cruelty. They would spill water on the floor, causing me to slip, or deliberately misplace important documents, attempting to tarnish my reputation.

Yet, amid the darkness, I found that not all staff in the palace were out to get me. I found solace in some of the friendships I forged with the castle staff.

The loyal guards, the kind kitchen staff, and even the stable hands provided a support system that helped me navigate the treacherous waters.

"You don't need to bother about what is going on," a kitchen staff said to me as I sat by the window while he prepared the meal for the prince. "Some of these girls are jealous because you are the first personal maid the prince is having."

"But I'm blind. They can see all the wonderful colors that the world has to offer but somehow I'm their biggest problem."

He chuckled, coming to touch my shoulder. "Sometimes, people have misplaced priorities. They should be trying to win favors from you and not going against you. That could get them fired real quick."

As the days turned into a week, my determination remained unyielding. I refused to let the maids wickedness define me.

I took up the prince's advice and became adept at avoiding the traps set by the maids, anticipating their every move.

Their efforts to break my spirit only served to ignite a fire within me to succeed, a fire fueled by my ruthlessness and a desire to prove my worth.

I had worked for a company before in my own time so this was nothing to me.

If I could beat some of the most ruthless people in my time with my eyes, I'm sure I could beat these maids with my eyes closed.

One by one, I made sure they knew that I was not totally helpless. Their petty tricks stopped working against me as I was not falling for the oil on the ground or the water on the stairs trick.

I could see them hiding in crevices and avoid them.

This made them mad and soon after, I noticed they stopped as I was no fun as I had been when I first entered the palace.

Trina's POV

"Well," I sighed to the maids before me. "That wench is still here."

My maids I had gathered in the barn all looked away in horror at what I would do to them if they ever failed me.

One of them stepped up in fear as I folded my arms.

"My lady," she started. "We have tried everything to get rid of her…"

"It's clearly not working. And I'm sure you haven't tried everything. She's still here!" I screamed as they shivered in their stead. "Seriously, what kind of stupid half arses are you all that cannot do a simple job that I have sent you to do. Get rid of one daft blind girl. How hard can it be? She's blind! She has no future. She can't see. Every fucking day I am reminded that I am surrounded by idiots. I am appalled and right now I wish you all would get trampled by bulls and die watery deaths."

I sighed, breathing deeply as I tried to keep my heart rate low.

"I've been here for over a week getting to two weeks and she is still here. Get rid of her. Or I'll get rid of you."

With that, I walked away from them, leaving them to think about their next move carefully.

I got to the palace to see her talking to a cook and suddenly wondered if hiring a slave would be a great idea.

Suddenly, I knew the best thing to do would be to meet her own people and find out who she really was.

If my maids would not handle this well, I would do it myself.

Calling my rider, I got into the carriage and told him to take me to her house.

When I got there, I got down from the carriage and had a look around with my eyes. It wasn't a poor home but it wasn't a decent one either. I knew they could afford the basics but that was about it.

I found one of the inhabitants of the house step out as she looked at me and bowed before me.

"Lady Trina," she said as I smiled. I loved it when people groveled before me. It made me feel better about myself.

"And you are?" I asked.

"Jamie."

"Are you related to a certain Jane?"

The mention of that name got a sneer from her as she struggled to compose herself which failed. That was when I knew that something was wrong somewhere.

"My mother and I have been looking for her for a while now and haven't been able to figure out where she is."

I smiled after hearing that. "She's at the palace."

This had the girl raising her brows in confusion.

"At the palace? Doing what?"

"She's serving the prince from what I see."

She chuckled a bit before catching herself as I wondered what was making her laugh.

"I'm sorry my lady. It's just that…You see, Jane's blind. She's no good here, what makes you think she would be any good in the palace?"

"I thought the same thing too, but that's why I'm here."

I could smell when someone didn't like another and I knew this girl didn't like Jane.
