Back to Retronia (Part 3)

{Dennis Pov}

As hours passed by last night. I felt that something was wrong. I woke in the middle of 3am and I could barely open my eyes. But I felt that something was approaching the ship, but I then recalled that the dragon followed our last ship out of this continent. It made no sense, but I felt the same presence of the dragon getting close.

Then I heard someone knocking on the door. I quickly got out of the bed and left Claire by her self. I wanted to know the situation that we are about to deal with, and when I opened the door. My friend Nidializ was standing outside.

"Dennis, you got to see this!!"

Nidializ said.

I then followed her to pilot room and saw that it was open. Inside the pilot room. No one was there, but it appears as if the ship was operating on itself.

"This was not part of the autopilot..."

I said out loud. The current function of the autopilot was still active, but something was wrong with the ship. We only had a few more hours before we reach Retronia, and as things are now. I'm the only one that can fix this ship in time before things could get worse.

"Bro, you got to do something!"

Nidializ said to me.

"Calm down, I can fix this, just make sure to wake the others while I deal with the ship."

I said to Nidializ. She then nodded at me and went to wake up the others. While I stayed behind. I took notice that the ship was trying to turn off the autopilot while trying to override its primary functions.

"Alright, guess I can put this a try..."

I said to myself out loud. As I was getting close to the pilot seat. It straightened by it self. I remember that I left the seat flat, but it surprised me that everything was responding to my presence. And I was ready to try something that I should have done since the start.

"Ship, turn off autopilot and continue the course to Retronia. Then run a diagnostic test of all operational functions. Once that's done, find a place to land near the castle of Retronia."

I said to the ship. I then sat down on the pilot seat, as I waited in a response from the silence. My friends were now all awake and saw me doing nothing.

"Dennis, what are you doing?"

Claire asked me. She was wide awake, but as for Dj and Kiwi. They were both half a sleep. Everyone was looking at me as if I had a clue of what was I was doing. I then took a deep breath and exhaled.

"Ship, execute order 009"

I said out loud. Then the ship brought a transparent digital panel in front of me. As it was getting ready, we all heard a doorbell sound coming from the ship.

"Executing order 009. What will your orders be captain?"

The ship asked in robotic girl voice. It surprised all of my friends while I kept being calm. I then payed attention to the ship to give out the next following orders.

"Ship, follow the previous orders, we going straight to Retronia, and send me your diagnostic results pronto. After that, I want you to contact X and relay him a recording of what I will say next."

"Understood. Starting recording."

The ship then started a voice recording. What am I about to say would be only directed to X.

"X, by the time you receive this recording, I will be in Retronia. You and I know that we have things to do. So I'll take it from here for now, but you need to take charge soon. Everything will be at risk, and I won't back out."

Once I finished speaking, I snapped my fingers to stop the recording. And as I looked at my friends, I pointed at them to go back to sleep. We all have a big day ahead of us, and this is just the start of disaster that was begging to happen. I then went back to sleep since I had nothing else to do.

As time passed by, I felt a burning sensation on my face. I then covered my face with my right hand so I can open them. When I finally opened my eyes, I moved my hand away and looked out the window.

"Ship, status report."

"Confirmed. We have reached Retronia, I have parked at the nearest place at the castle."

The ship said. It landed in an actual garden on what I was seeing out the window. But I got worried since every castle always has guards, no matter what place could it be. Then the alarm went off on the ship, waking all my friends as they were panicking. They all got out of their rooms and went to the pilot room to find me.

"For the love of god, ship, turn off the alarm."

I said to the ship while I placed my hands over my head.

"Understood, deactivating alarms."

The ship said. As the alarms went off. Someone was knocking on the door. I got off the seat and went to check on everyone. As I opened the door. I found my friend Dj waiting with his weapon ready in hand.

"Dj, what are you doing?"

I had to ask. Dj is always ready, but I never saw him with his weapon already out when he is not in a battle.

"Dude, hurry up. We waiting for ya outside."

Dj said.

"What, the actual hell, man. You guys couldn't wait like five more minutes before heading out? It's like you guys want to get in trouble for no damn reason."

I said to Dj. We were now running out of time. If everyone is outside waiting for me. Then that includes over a dozen guards, and the princess with her royal guards. I took a deep breath and exhaled as I pulled out my only weapons in hand, my book and my gun.

"Wow. What's wrong, man?"

Dj asked me. He saw that I was getting a bit too serious after I puled out my gun.

"Hey, I need to represent, but I will not attack like a crazy madman."

I said to Dj as we walked out the ship. And as we got out, we had a better view from the garden. It was greatly taken care of, but we had guard from every direction. The guards were making a path with their weapons in hand and pointed us the way to find the princess.

As me and Dj took our time. We noticed that the guards weren't trained for actual sword combat. I really wanted to pick a fight with them, but I only my gun and book out. Dj in the other hand could easily take them all down in about five minutes because of his training.

"Yo, check it out."

Dj said to me. He then pointed at a portrait painting. In the painting we saw two girls that seemed to be sisters. But me and Dj tilted our heads after noticing a ribbon on one of the girl's shirt.

"Dj, is Claire wearing her dark black sleeved jacket with a blue shirt and white skirt today?"

I asked.

"Yea, why you ask?"

"Call me crazy, but have you seen Claire with a fox, cat, or wolf's ears before?"

I asked again. Dj had his eyes wide open after realizing what we have missed out. We never saw Claire like that before, but we had to confirm it. As me and Dj rushed to the throne room, we knew that everyone was waiting for us.

Me and Dj stumble upon a long hallway. This reminded me of the time we fought Farion for the first time. As we went towards the door. We remembered every fight we had till now.

"Let get this over with. I am dying for some answers."

I said out loud.

"Same here."

Dj said.

We then opened the door together. As the door was opening, we saw that the room was like a small office, but big enough for a throne. We then saw Kiwi standing on the left, Nidializ standing on the right while Claire was standing in the middle while turning around at us. And in that moment. Me and Dj saw that Claire had no animal ears.

"Dennis, she bamboozled us."

Dj said to me. I then placed a hand on Dj's chest as I was trying to push him back.

"Dj, twenty bucks in the nearest coffee shop if I pull this off."

"You on."

Dj had agreed to my deal. Then I was on move. As I was walking towards Claire, she looked at me very confused.

"Dennis, is there a problem?"

Claire asked me. She saw me with a blank face. It was weird that Claire never shown us her other ears before, but I knew away that could make her bring them out. Claire saw me raise my right hand. She didn't try to move or say nothing for my actions. Then I placed my hand over her head. And as I suspected, Claire's human ears vanished and her animal ears came out.

"Dj, that's twenty bucks you going to have to spend on the nearest coffee shop later."

"Worth it!"

Dj said to me. Then I noticed that Claire was blushing at me, but I got distracted when I saw a crown behind Claire. I moved my head to one side and saw that I amused the princess on the display I was giving.

"Dennis, stop teasing my little sister, will ya? I want to talk to you personally."

The princess said. I was confused after hearing her say that Claire is her little sister. Then I saw their resemblance.

"Princess... Sally... what has given me the honor to talk to you personally?"

I asked Sally. I wanted to know better why I was called here in the first place.

"A side from being leaders of the GDXS, I wanted to talk to you as a friend and sister-in-law..."

Sally said.

When I heard her mention about GDXS, it gave me the feels that she knew me years ago. I then dropped my gun and book and stood right in front of Sally.

"Give me one good reason to trust you on your word."

"I know everything about you, you dated my sister, and we are both founders of GDXS. I hope X is around, otherwise I would gladly deal with him in another way..."

"Yeap, this is going to take a while."

As I sat down near Sally, Claire was getting jealous and stood in front of her.

"What are you doing?"

Claire asked.

"Don't worry, I will do nothing to your man unless he messes around. Also, I have to make a request for you, Dennis."

Sally said.

"Okay then, let's hear it."

"Their been reports of a strange figure causing problems over by the commercial district. It carries a sword and is claiming to be you, Dennis."

"Hold on, by any chance. Have their been reports of two robots recently?"

I had to ask. I knew that we have Umbra on our side, but Mecha and Rampage never returned.

"Yes, but they have done nothing."

Sally said.

"That explains it. We will deal with this as soon as possible, but for now I need as much intel as possible."

I said to Sally. We then agreed went over by the details. And as far as I could tell. The ns was involved. A strange figure that looks a lot like me is concerning. Me and my friends have to find my look and like and stop them at all costs. And in addition, we have to capture Mecha and Rampage for their own safety.

After that, we had enough intel that I even sent my friends beforehand into the city, and I stayed behind with Sally as I gave team leader position to Claire.

"So, what do you want to know? You seem to be acting dumb for no reason, Dennis."

Sally said to me. She knew on what I was doing, but it was all a cover up while I regaining my memories.

"Well, I'm still regaining my memories, but so far I could remember how to use magic. Right now, I'm in the hunt for Ragnarok. But for that, we need to deal with the enemy in hand."

I said to Sally. She understood my motives. But as far as we both know. We both have equal enemies that are standing in our way. For now, we kept chatting while we wait for my friends to return.
