How Long Did It Take Us?

"Give me a report. How many soldiers did we lose controlling Washington?" Dominic was walking through the enormous garden of the White House, which was currently undergoing significant modifications to become a base.

The man beside him was Rick, who had been trained over the last five months and was now one of the commanders deploying soldiers to clear Washington.

"We encountered some difficulties with mutated walkers, but we eliminated them after a tough battle. I believe the number of those who died, including those who succumbed to their injuries, is no more than fifty soldiers," Rick said after calculating.

The situation had always been dangerous. No matter what they did, people would die, and everyone knew that. But the willingness to sacrifice was something everyone needed to keep in mind now that they were here.

"How long do you think it will take us to clear the city?"

"More than a month. Not many civilians joined us this time, so we don't have the necessary manpower." Rick gave Dominic the respect he deserved after learning who he was. Not everyone agreed, but he respected Dominic's decisions.

Dominic nodded, knowing he would find a solution to that problem since he planned to visit some communities he knew, which would lessen the issues.

"The problem isn't here but in Canada and Mexico. In Mexico alone, with a population of around 120,936,000, let's assume only 120 million people have turned into walkers. How do you expect us to solve that in the coming years?"

"According to our estimates, we're lucky that there aren't as many distinct walkers here as in other countries. The ones in France are faster, the ones in Canada seem more aggressive, and the ones in Mexico are much more brutal."

Dominic paused and said, "Now, do you have any idea why I chose this location besides being close to our fleet?"

"No..." Rick had no idea.

"We found a community in Ocean City and another on Virginia Beach, and all of them are now helping us clear Washington. Our data indicates that most survivors are along the coasts."

"Are they reliable?"

Dominic nodded and said, "They weren't happy to see us, but after explaining our situation, they understood. They will help us clear everything from Washington to Richmond, and then I will start searching for survivors in Virginia before closing the borders with West Virginia."

They had to proceed in stages. They didn't have the abundant manpower to put all their innovative plans into action. For now, he wanted to focus their forces on a single point.

"Once we have an operational base, I will send several squads to search for survivors, and we will settle in this location," Dominic said, thinking it was a blessing that the CRM didn't opt for war, though it was obvious they would try to kill him.

This is why Daniel was in Los Angeles. At least this way, he would take command of the situation and destroy the CRM bases using nuclear bombs as a last resort.

"Alright, you can go rest."

Rick nodded, saluted, and left after reporting. He had found that talking to Dominic was much easier than he thought. Not everyone had the gift of being friendly with people, but Dominic seemed to manage it with relative ease.

But when Rick left, Dominic received a call from Alicia, who said, "Two CRM targets have been eliminated. Their deaths were caused by Walker attacks, but they're getting nervous."

"We need to prepare as well. I think we will be attacked at any moment."
