Is My Acting Not Good Enough?

The moment Naomi Sweeney was about to fall to the ground, Cynthia Shannon quickly grabbed her arm. Naomi looked at her in astonishment.

"If we're going to act, we have to make it convincingly enough." Cynthia leaned slightly closer to Naomi's ear and whispered in a soft tone mixed with a chilling coldness, "If you can't bring yourself to do it, maybe I can help you."

Naomi's heart tightened. She turned her head abruptly and happened to meet Cynthia's eyes, which flickered with an unclear coldness. A sense of foreboding rose in her heart.

To create a comfortable environment, the hospital lawn was adorned with many rocks and stones. Cynthia knew well what awaited Naomi after she let go of her arm, but she didn't hesitate.

With a dull thud, Naomi's head hit the stone. Her fair forehead instantly swelled and appeared even more delicate and vulnerable. The entire sequence of events happened in an instant, catching not only Naomi off guard but also Joe.

When Joe finally reacted, he glared at Cynthia with clenched teeth, his voice filled with anger. "Cynthia Shannon, do you know what you're doing?"

Cynthia shrugged indifferently, wearing a face devoid of any guilt. "Sorry, I didn't mean to just now..."

"You...!" Joe looked at Cynthia's unapologetic face and naturally understood that she felt no remorse or apology.

"Don't you believe me?" Cynthia looked at Joe's disgusted gaze and suddenly curved her lips into a mocking smile. "It's strange, why is it that when Naomi apologizes, you believe it was unintentional, but if it were me, you wouldn't believe it? Is my acting not good enough?"

Naomi cautiously touched her forehead, feeling the swollen and painful area. She glared at Cynthia with eyes filled with hatred. She clenched her teeth tightly and suppressed the impulse to rush forward and tear her apart.

For Naomi, a star in the entertainment industry, her face was especially important for her. She couldn't bear the consequences of any disfigurement. She never expected Cynthia to be so ruthless!

Ignoring her spiteful gaze, Cynthia's eyes brimmed with mockery. "Naomi, from now on, stay away from me. Otherwise, next time, the lesson won't be so light."

Sensing the warning in her words, Joe swiftly stepped forward and stood in front of Cynthia, his gaze dark and intense. "Cynthia, you're simply unreasonable!"

Cynthia raised an eyebrow nonchalantly, a cold smile playing on her lips. "If you think I'm unreasonable, then stay away from me. I've never been patient. Anything I find disgusting is too loathsome to look at, !"

"You!" Joe's expression turned even darker, and he clenched his fists at his sides. "If you hold a grudge against me, direct it at me. It has nothing to do with Naomi!"

"Is a doormat worth fighting over?" Cynthia glanced at him; her eyes filled with thick sarcasm. "You seem to think highly of yourself!"

Joe frowned as he looked at her, his voice laced with a warning tone. "You can hate me, but I won't allow you to harm Naomi!"

He bent down and carried Naomi in his arms, giving Cynthia a deep look before turning around and leaving.

Cynthia stood in place, watching Joe's retreating figure, tears uncontrollably welling up in her eyes. Three years of effort had ultimately been in vain. What she gained in exchange for turning against her family was just a hollow joy.

But ever since she decided to end it all, she never once thought about turning back.

Cynthia slowly closed her eyes, trying to control her tears, but she couldn't stop the teardrops that rolled down from the corners of her eyes, a tribute to the love she had recklessly and arrogantly pursued.

"Are you okay?" A deep and captivating voice sounded beside her.
