Hiding his feelings with a lie

"What?" Ethan question under his breath and stood up to go see who this Liam is, there is no way Alexandra already has someone else in two weeks.

He walks out of the room with his heart pondering ignoring Loretta's gestures at him and hurry down to the entrance of their dormitory.

He sees Alexandra laughing with a guy and immediately knows that is Liam, he has a dark short hair and is light skinned, Ethan approaches the both of them slowly and watch her hug him before he leaves.

He always believes that Alexandra is only like that with him and seeing her hug another guy makes him so upset.

Alexandra turned to see Ethan behind her and stood in front of him, she showed him the cold medicine Liam bought for her and some snacks

"I think he likes me" she said blushing

"Do you like him because you think he likes you?" he asked with a cold gaze.

"I just think he is cute, I might start dating before you do" she said jokingly but her words hurt Ethan's feelings and he tries to maintain a calm expression but it didn't work

Alexandra also didn't fail to notice that and knows that he usually has that kind of cold expression when he is angry about something

"What is wrong?" she queries

"It is nothing, let me get you the things I bought" he said and head to the car leaving her behind

Alexandra hurried after him not sure what she did to annoy him and took the bags from has him hand them over to her.

"You haven't changed your number right? I will give you a call tonight" he said still in a foul mood and Alexandra nods her head obediently

"Thanks dude" she mumbles and held his hand before he turn away to get into the car

"I will come to visit you when our break starts" she said and wave at him watching the car disappear before returning to her room.

"What are you doing?"

"Am in bed and you?"

"Just hanging out with some new friends, Julie told me you are having your first break next week"…

Alexandra turned on her side on the bed as she wait for Ethan's reply and smiles when he promised to visit her when he is less busy. The two has been keeping in touch with each other through the phone and Alexandra reports every little thing that happens to him

Like when she fought with Loretta and when she was praised by one of her lecturers and how she sneak out for the school to watch a film with Liam and some things Liam did to impress her

Just like that, a year passed with the both of them just speaking on the phone expect the few days they spent at home for the holidays before returning back to school.

Alexandra's family business is doing fine now but she already gives up on going to Heights

"Ethan, I have something to tell you" Alexandra text sounding excited and send a dancing emotion after

"Did something good happen?" he text back

"Liam officially asked me out" she typed and send it but didn't get a reply from Ethan immediately; it took a few minutes before he sent her a short congratulatory text and he went offline.

Alexandra tried calling him but his line is unreachable, she wanted to tell him everything about it but that will have to wait so she dropped her phone and stood up from the bed

"Your birthday is next month right? How are you celebrating it?"Loretta queries and Alexandra told her

Ever since Ethan visited her, she has been trying to know more about him and soon find out how they become best friends also finding out their birthday is on the same day.

"You are not going to celebrate with Ethan this year? It's a good decision you made" Loretta smiles excitedly.

"I haven't told him yet, I don't know why his line is unreachable" Alexandra said concerned and sits on one of the chairs in the room

"You don't have to tell him everything, you two are grown now and you also have a boyfriend remember"

Alexandra isn't sure if her relationship with Liam counts as that of a boyfriend, she didn't give him a definite answer when he asked her out but he promised to wait till she is ready

"That doesn't matter, I have to tell him and ask to see what he thinks about it before I start making arrangements for the party" she said ignoring her word and sent him a text again which he didn't read

Alexandra wants a formal birthday party since she is now an adult but Ethan isn't the type who likes stuff like that, having a cake and celebrating their birthday every year was something she had to force him to do so having a crowd over is definitely a no for him

"Hey, someone is knocking on the door" Loretta called out to Alexandra who is busy trying to get a hold of Ethan or Antonio

She stood up from the chair and opens the door to see Liam standing there with some snacks and she invites him in and soon forgets about her conversation with Ethan….

….Ethan surprisingly agrees to Alexandra's plan to have a pool party to celebrate their birthday and is thankful that she didn't ask him the reason why he didn't talk to her the whole day after knowing that she is in a relationship with Liam. He has decided to hide his feelings for her and bury them forever.

When his school went on a short break, he didn't visit her as promised but still kept in touch with her and acts like nothing is wrong on his end but everyone around could feel that he is not happy.

"What about you? Don't you have any girl you like?" Alexandra asked him one evening when they are video chatting and Ethan almost exposed himself but quickly comes up with a fabricated story

"Of course there is, she is older and studies at the same school" he lied and scratches his head for more words knowing how inquisitive Alexandra can be

"Really? Why haven't you told me about her? Who is she? What is her name?" she throws the question at him hurriedly and Ethan just spill out the first name that comes to his mind

"Alexandra"…

"What?"

"Her name is Alexandra Walker and she is in her third year" he quickly come up with another lie but it didn't come out right and he prays she doesn't catch on which she didn't

"I can't believe you like someone with the same name as me, I bet she is very beautiful" Alexandra said clueless about the panicked look on Ethan's face

"Yes she is and she is so clueless" he said

"Is it a one-sided crush? Oh my god Ethan you have a crush on a girl" she exclaimed excitedly and tease him for the next minutes before Ethan make up an excuse to end the call

"How clueless can she be?" Antonio said as Ethan drops his phone and passes him a towel

"And also, if she feels comfortable talking to you without your shirt on then she really just thinks of you as a friend" he added and pick up a glass of juice

"Mind your business" Ethan breathes and starts to dress up.

"Who are you going to introduce to her when she asked to see your supposed crush during the summer vacation?" Antonio asked further but Ethan doesn't have an answer for him.

He also wonder why he told her he likes someone instead of saying the opposite and rub his forehead gently as he sits back on his bed.
