Chapter- 1

Would this have happened if I wasn't so weak? I should have listened to them and trained, should have gotten stronger. Strong enough to protect them and everyone else.

But I wasn't, am not. Not strong, so weak...so stupid. That's what I am, pathetic and useless. I was so shielded from the world that I never realized how scary this place was. How alone I'm in this huge world.

Before, my home was my whole world but now that it is no more, I'm homeless in this huge world.

It aches, not the physical wounds. They will heal soon enough but the scars on my emotions, on my mind would be present forever.

How would you feel if your parents were slaughtered right in front of you? Your loved ones killed mercilessly for power.

It was supposed to be a joyous day, my mother had given birth to my younger brother. All my clan was celebrating the birth of the second prince of the demon fox clan.

Everyone was so happy before it happened. Before my father's most trusted man betrayed him. He poisoned the food, it was slow. It stopped everyone who was still loyal to my father from using their powers and killed them.

I was in another room when it happened, with my new born brother and some other fox kids. My closest maid, who was like a sister came running to us, covered in blood. I'm sure most of us screamed seeing her like that.

She asked us to run, to run far away and keep ourselves safe. To not stop unless we were very far from this dangerous place which was once our home.

She also gave me the seal of the foxes, our King's seal, my father's. The traitor couldn't be the real ruler of our land without it and under no circumstances would I let him have it.

"I'll get back what belongs to us father...mother, I promise. Your son will never give up."

I ran away, holding the child whose world was taken away from him shortly after he came to this world.

I may have thought about going straight away to kill that traitor but I held myself back. I wasn't strong enough and I wasn't alone.

I had my brother, my only family to look after. I had to keep him safe from everything. And then there were my friends, the only ones left of my father's trusted people.

They had promised to always be with me and get stronger together so that we can avenge our parents.

"Qiang...don't worry, we are together. One day we will definitely get back what belongs to us, what belongs to you. You are our king and it would only be you who we will serve."

This were my best friend, Shen Liang's words.

I had to stop wallowing in self misery and think like a grown up that I was. I could never be a child anymore now.

I stood up and looked at my five friends, taking in their tired and scared appearance.

"First, let's find ourselves a safe place. Where no one could recognize us. I'm sure Weihan has realised that the seal is missing and he might send his people after us."

But where would be safe? The land of Demons wasn't safe for either of us and we couldn't go the land of God's either.

No, there was a third place. The land of Humans, earth. We would be safe there.

"Earth."

All of us spoke together. Good, we were thinking the same thing.

"It is the safest place for us now, we just have to stay away from the cultivators as they might find out our true identity."

Liang was right, some of them were too cruel to my kinds.

With that we all decided to travel to land of Humans and hide there until we were strong enough.
