Lawsuit

Perseus POV

It's been 3 days now and currently, I sat in the exam room, feeling a mix of relief and nerves. They finally rescued me from that Hokkaido, but now I had to go through all these health check-ups. Fun times, right? Just being questioned all the time about what happened and having to answer all of em.

A nurse walked in, armed with a clipboard and a million questions. She went through the routine stuff, checking my vitals, and pretty much all the regular health check-up routine. I was mostly healed thanks to magic, so I was pretty okay, just a bit fatigued.

I was mostly calm, though she fired off questions like a machine gun.

I answered them all and afterward, I was allowed to head back to a hotel room that they let me stay in during this whole ordeal. And after a while, I heard a knock on the door, I thought that it was Shawn coming back after his health check, but it was more than that.

I peeked through the whole, and I see my dad, Shawn, the principal, and a man in a black suit. I let them in and they sat me down while presenting me a paper and a box. The man in the suit then introduced himself as John Simmons.

"This paper is a lawsuit made against you by Paul Maddox, who works at UPF's anti-syndicate division," Simmons explained, "A division that works to go against the Magic Salvation Syndicate, they are trying to charge you as a member of the syndicate.

"This may seem sudden, but it was made right before you experienced the recent incident. And one of their more damning pieces of evidence is your current strength, you are way too powerful for your age. And even though the process will be delayed a bit due to our recent incident, they have no plan on having a removal of the lawsuit."

"Damn, now I wish I was still stuck on the island...kidding."

Damn, first Ollie was calling me names and discriminating against me, and now his family member is putting a lawsuit against me, that's just annoying, I really wanna relax, people have seen me without my blindfold already, and my anxiety is just pumping through the roof.

"Be rest assured, Mr. Silver, I am very confident in my abilities to protect you." Simmons said proudly, "The Maddox family isn't pursuing the charge of practicing magic early illegally since a strong family like the Maddox would be hypocrites as they have many allegations against them of that same charge.

"As for this, we will just need some sorcerers to vouch for your character and the person who taught you magic."

"I have some wizards in mind, as for the person who taught me magic, it was my older brother."

I rather not use Sterling's name, I don't want to owe him another favor, that syndicate might use me for something more...well, let's use difficult, I don't wanna associate with them more than necessary if I have to.

"What about Dad? Will he get in trouble too?"

"No, as he had no knowledge of the teachings, and with everything going on, your magic was vital in helping the rest of your group escape, so it's easier to pin you down as a member of the syndicate." Simmons answered.

"Though we are confident in our abilities to help you with the syndicate, we are worried about you missing out on school due to the case." Principal Arthur chimed in and then pointed to the box, "However there is a second option for you."

"That's a gift box."

"Just open it, it could be another way for your salvation." the principal smiled, "Pun intended."

As I lifted the cover, my eyes widened at the sight that greeted me. Nestled inside was a black blindfold, next to it lay a carefully folded letter. I looked to Shawn and my Dad, they just shook their head, meaning that they also don't know what was in the letter.

I then unfolded the letter and began to read its contents.

"The Noble Canvas...?"

"Yes, the guild is led by one of 4 kings, she's a queen in this case." Principal Arthur said with an amused smile, "If you join the guild, even the Maddox family will be able to touch you, and I've read the contract beforehand, even after you sign the contract, they'll allow you to finish your school life to graduate and get a proper license to become a legal official wizard.

"After then, you can join the guild as a full member, you'll even be paid as you attend school." he explained, "The letter came yesterday when a scouting member of the guild overheard your fight with an angel captain and saw the fight through satellite footage."

"Wow, I'm impressed, but I'll be honest, I sorta don't wanna join or make a decision yet, I rather meet a representative and talk this through instead of just answering through a letter."

"Son, seriously consider this." Dad said, "I personally don't really care whether I get in trouble or not, but this can help you escape from powerful families who are actively trying to slow you down, not just that, this is one of the 4 best guilds in the world, your future is almost guaranteed."

"That's why I would prefer meeting a representative first, I wanna see the contract and talk with a guy from their guild and ask why they picked me."

"That's why I'm leaving it to John here, he'll serve as both your agent and lawyer." Principal Arthur said.

"The lawyer part, I sorta get it, but my agent too? That's a bit generous, even for you."

"I wasn't the one who arranged it." he chuckled.

"Then who...Dad, did you sell drugs behind our backs for the expensive attorney?"

"I wish I was that smart and calculating, but no." Dad shook his head.

"Is it Principal Von?" Shawn asked

"Yes, he was the one that arranged it." Principal Arthur nodded.

"Though don't tell him that you know, he'll rip my head off." Simmons said in a joking tone despite his expression saying otherwise.
