I'm Very Humble (2)

Shawn POV

For today, I am grouped with my brother and Minerva to go check out some routes at the port. Perseus is made to lead a group assuming that he really is a level 5 wizard, he doesn't necessarily make every decision since Minerva is in charge of the decision-making due to her being older and 'more experienced'.

But we both know that Perseus' vigilante habits will probably do more in terms of effectiveness, even if he downplayed it as being not as good as we expected since he did it solo.

We're to come here every now and then to study the place so that we'll be ready when the day comes, it's also to get us used to the sight, the angels flying in the air is quite intimidating, there's just too many of em.

"So everyone else will go that route over there," Perseus pointed, "And our job is to lure most of them to our side, we're getting on the boat last, but with my speed, I should be able to get us all to make it, we're to split up and give time for the others to get the boat make a certain distance, I'll then carry us there and we'll ten just have to endure it for about 20-30 minutes."

"I seriously question why I'm with you guys."

"Simple, with you here, I got more motivation to take it seriously to cover for you, don't worry, it's not like I trust their team to cover for you as much as I do either, you're not a priority."

That's harsh, but it's true. They said the 3 prioritized people and it hasn't changed, they made regular calls back to the mainland and the mission was clear, get Julie and the Everetts back, the others don't matter.

It's not like I don't trust these people, but if push really comes to shove, I'll be used as a sacrifice to let everyone else get back, I understand it, it's our duty to save as many as we can, we're sorcerers, sometimes sacrifices are necessary, and if I really am going to meet my end, I'd rather delay the angels right by Perseus' side and make sure he gets back safely.

"You 2 shouldn't be so pessimistic." Minerva said in an assuring tone, "My father would easily sacrifice his life to save the 2 of you, though I really wish for all of us to get home safely, maybe we'll get some Korean BBQ when we're back on the island, my treat."

From a safe distance, we observed the trading port, my heart pounding with a mixture of caution and determination. Everyone knew that navigating through this treacherous terrain would require careful planning and a keen eye for detail, it was going to be quite impossible to make it out of there without any losses, but we were going to be optimistic.

Taking cover behind a bush, while the other 2 were doing their best to set up a proper plan, I studied the layout of the port just so I won't be too reliant on the 2, assessing the potential obstacles and hidden dangers that lay in wait.

There was an eerie silence that hung heavy in the air, broken only by the occasional creaking of ships and the distant flutter of wings. I knew I couldn't afford to let my guard down, not even for a moment when we were going through the port to get back.

First, I needed to identify the key areas I would have to traverse to reach the boats. The docks would likely still hold remnants of the angels' presence, I had to be cautious and avoid any potential traps they might have set, angels are just like humans, they also set up traps.

With a mental map forming in my mind, and with the extra information I learned from the experts and the 2 beside me, I tried my best to strategize the safest route to reach the boats.

Minerva spotted a series of crates and barrels, the same ones that the earlier group marked while they were here, and swarmed by the angels, they should provide ample cover for a brief moment if the angels are far up in the air.

We then collectively decided to risk it a bit just to approach a tiny bit closer and run back. Staying low and moving swiftly, I aimed to remain unseen, avoiding any unnecessary confrontation with the celestial beings that haunted this place.

As I approached the dock area, I noticed the remnants of destroyed ships scattered around. They served as a stark reminder of the angels' lethal power, a reminder that I couldn't afford to underestimate them. I took a moment to steady my nerves, reminding myself of the importance of remaining calm and focused.

Carefully, we scanned the surroundings, looking for any signs of movement or lingering threats. Shadows danced amidst the abandoned ships, but I couldn't discern whether they belonged to the angels or were merely tricks of the fading light. I knew I had to proceed with caution, my survival depending on my ability to navigate through this danger-infested port.

My mind raced as I considered alternative routes and contingency plans. I couldn't rely solely on luck; I needed to think several steps ahead. Using the network of abandoned buildings nearby could provide cover or create diversions if needed, but man, I don't think I'm athletic enough to outrun the angels.

Taking a deep breath, I calmed down, and after a while, we decided to head back for today, an angel spotted us and alerted the others, but Perseus grabbed both of us and cast flying platforms made of light, he then let us get on one each.

"Grab on." He instructed as he get on his.

He then controls the 3 platforms and flies us back into the forest and flies quickly through the thick forest, I seriously can't believe he can expertly control the 3 platforms and not have us hit any trees.

"Only 2 angels are flying and chasing after us, let's kill them when we can." Minerva shouted as we were flying.

"Give me a moment, we need a safe space to land." Perseus responded
