30. 'Shock'

*Song Meng POV

She said yes and my heart went THUMP! I've been waiting for this moment, waiting for Qin Shan to say that word to me for the longest time. It almost feels surreal now that she has agreed to be my girlfriend. I quickly wrap her in a hug and she melts into me. We stay like this for what feels like an eternity but I don't mind keeping her forever embraced.

When we finally pull away, her eyes are shining and she is beaming at me.

"I can't believe that you still accepted me after I rejected you so many times." Her soft eyes are filled with complex feelings and guilt.

"I was willing to wait forever for you, Qin Shan." I say and she smiles at me.

"Thank you Song Meng." She presses her head into my chest and there is a sense of belonging I feel that makes me so happy.

I walk her to her dorm and we say our goodbyes. Her friend is already in the room and sees our small interactions. She sighs and goes into a different room, Qin Shan doesn't notice though.

"I'll see you tomorrow. Get some rest, you are still too warm." Qin Shan's voice is like a wave washing over me. Gentle and unhurried. I nod without thinking.

"Good." A bright smile lights up her face and she enters the dorm, waving me one last goodbye.

It is not until the door is shut I realize that my feet were glued to the ground. A little bit embarrased, I make my way back to my dorm, and find Wu He sitting on his bed.

"You seem happy...did something happen?" Wu He's voice is a teasing but it is a little bit off. Something must have happened to him.

"Yeah, Qin Shan and I are together now." The words coming out of my mouth feel almost like a dream. As if I would just wake up and this beautiful world and future will just have vanished.

"Good good, its about time." Wu He pulls his face into a smile, though, it seems like it is a little bit strained.

"Did something happen to you?" I ask him and he widens his eyes.

"Geez, the ice prince is asking if I'm okay? I'm touched" Wu He cracks up and averts his eyes. It does little to hide what he is thinking.

"What happened?" I demand, narrowing my eyes as Wu He refuses to meet them. I go over to the bed and sit beside him. It is only then when he meets my glare.

"I-I, um, rejected Qin Shan's friend." He blurts it out really fast. That surprises even me. I didn't know that Qin Shan's friend had feelings for Wu He. Wu He actually seems to be suffering from it by the look on his face.

"When did that happen?" I coax and he sighs.

"In band, she gave me a card and ran away. Afterwards I confronted her and told her that I didn't like her." Wu He looks absolutely devastated.

"Dude, you have feelings for her so why didn't you accept her?" I ask him. Wu He is not good at keeping secrets from me and his expressions are clearly pained right now.

"She doesn't know our secret." He exhales and I freeze. That is true, Qin Shan has kept the huge secret of ours from everybody.

"If you really love her, you would let her know." I say gently and Wu He rapidly shakes his head.

"As a member of the vampire society, I can not. I know that you did and I won't snitch but they will kill any human who knows and I can't put her in that type of danger." As he speaks, I feel an emotional dagger being plunged into my heart.

Qin Shan is now in danger because she knows and even if she never tells a single other human, the shifters or any other creature could easliy snitch on us and expose our relationship. If the leaders of the Court came to Hong Kong University... I shiver, the result would be devastating.

I understand Wu He's problem and quite frankly, I feel the same way. It is up to me to protect both Qin Shan and her friend before something bad happens.

"Song Meng, are you doing okay?" Wu He's voice interrupts my thoughts. He is looking me up and down and I see that there are small tremors rocking my body.

"Um, yeah. I have a lot to think about." I confess honestly and Wu He nods.

"Do what you think is right then. I trust your decision will be the best one." He adds. Wu He is right. I have put Qin Shan, her friend and every single human here in danger by catching feelings for her.

My phone buzzes suddenly and I look down at it. A message from Qin Shan

"Did something happen between Huan and Wu He?" I stop breathing and look up at Wu He suddenly, who is scrolling through his phone. He meets my eyes with a questioning look.

"What happened?" I lie and shoot the question back at her.

"--\ +_+/-- " is what she sends back and I can't help but smile despite having just lied to her.

"I'll ask and get back to you tomorrow. Have a good rest tonight Ms. Girlfriend." I quickly type the message and hit the send button.

"Good night Mr. Boyfriend :)" Is her reply and I laugh despite myself.

I don't know how to face her tomorrow or what is right/wrong right now. I want to keep Qin Shan so badly but if she knew about the Court and the vampire society, I think that she would leave me.
