Chapter 4

Evelyn looked at her face in the mirror. She is feeling scared about whatever has happened.

Why has it happened to her? Why did the man torture her like that?

She started to feel sad, scared, and guilty.

Sad because she has gone through a traumatic incident. She could never forget it in her life.

Scared because what will happen next? 

Guilty because she felt she had made a mistake. Though the man forced her to do it, she wouldn't lie by saying that she did not like it.

She felt mesmerized for a moment. She liked it for a moment.

She could still feel his strong hands on her waist. She could still feel his taste on her lips.

But she should not feel like that, right?

She would hate him. She doesn't know who he is and has never seen him, so she should feel disgusted, right?

Even for a moment, she cannot like it.

Moreover, she is getting married next week. Her marriage is fixed with Jason, who is her father's friend, James's son.

Though James loves her, she doesn't have any feelings for Jason.

Jason is a good man. She is an educated and kind man. He is helping his father with his business.

His father is also a business partner in James's company.

They both share equal shares.

James helped his father when his father's business was at a loss.

That is why, when Jason proposed this marriage, he did not say no. Moreover, Jason said he loved her for so many days and want to marry only her.

His father, Mike, felt very happy about this proposal. Because he felt that in this way, he could pay off the gratitude. He did not even ask her if she wanted this marriage or not.

She also could not say no, because she could not hurt her father.

She felt someday, she must marry. She doesn't have a boyfriend or a lover. So, she felt it was better to marry someone who knows us better and who we know better.

But she does not like Jason and she does not like him.

Still, it is not appropriate for her to enjoy a man's kiss, right?

She looked into the mirror and asked, "You are not supposed to enjoy it. You should hate him. Though you don't love Jason, you are committed to marry him, right?"

Her face was so haggard and became red with crying.

She came out of the bathroom and wiped her body. Then she slipped into a comfortable dress.

Just then, she heard the doorbell ringing.

She went to the door and opened it.

She saw both her mother Maria and her father Mike at the door.

Maria looked at Evelyn and said, "Oh! You are back."

Evelyn clumsily smiled and nodded her head.

Mike and Maria went inside. They both slumped on the Sofa as they are tried.

Evelyn went inside and brought some water for them.

She handed each glass to both.

Mike looked keenly at Evelyn. Then he frowned and said, "Evelyn, what happened to your lips? They are bleeding."

Evelyn wiped her lips, and it is bleeding a little.

She wiped it from her lips.

Maria then observed her and said, "Baby, what happened to you?"

"Why is your face so red? Did you cry?"

We can hide anything from anyone. But can we hide something from our mother? They will find out the moment they see our face that something is wrong.

Evelyn became panicked. She did not know what to say.

She forced a smile and said, "Oh! This. Mom, my lips became very dry, and they are just chaffed. That is why they are bleeding."

"I will put on some moisturizer."

Maria said, "Then why is your face red?"

Evelyn sat beside Maria and said, "Mom, Today i ate very spicy food in a Korean restaurant. Do you know how spicy it is?"

"I could not tolerate it at all."

"My face became so red and i even cried."

"See, it did not even recover after i washed it with cold water."

Mike said, "Oh! You had spicy food."

"Darling, i felt something had happened to you."

Evelyn placed her hand in her father's hand.

She said, "Dad, what will happen to me?"

"I am fine. Please don't worry."

James said, "Evelyn, don't eat spicy food again. It is not good for your health darling."

"You will again suffer with stomach aches and ulcers. Take care of your health baby."

Evelyn felt very sweet in her heart. She loves her father so much, and she can do anything for him.

He is so special to her.

She said, "Dad, don't worry. I will take care."

Maria said, "Evelyn, so much shopping is left for us to do. Your wedding is next week only."

"You still have to try on your wedding dress. We have to buy gifts."

"We have so many things to do."

Evelyn said, "Mom, don't worry. I have talked to Lisa. She said the wedding dress would be ready in three days."

"We could try it."

Maria said, "Okay. Where is Mason? He is still not home."

Mason is Evelyn's younger brother.

Evelyn said, "He said, he will be late tonight."

"He is studying with his friends for his exam tomorrow."

Mike said, "Oh! i really wonder if he is staying back to study."

Evelyn said, "Dad, you always doubt him."

Mike said, "Why not? I also came from that age, right?"

"I know what those excuses mean."

Maria smiled and said, "Okay."

"Let us have dinner."

They all three sat together and had dinner.

Four days have rolled by just like that.

Evelyn also slowly forgot about the incident.

She was so busy that she did not even have time to think about it.

Four days later, Maria, Jane and Evelyn went to try the wedding dress which they ordered.
