Chapter 26: Severance
Seeley felt her strength return to her as soon as she heard him say that he was hers until she tired of him, but her head still spun from the recent discovery she made about Eva.
The copper-haired diver almost missed Eva saying, “Hey, you’re blocking my sun,” to her green-eyed hero, but once she heard it, she was thrown back to the day when she discovered Colton’s treachery.
“Yeah…” the woman murmured, caught up in her activities.
“Crap, babe, I lost one of my new cufflinks! They’re sapphires, dammit.”
“You’re blocking my sun,” the woman had said.
The toffee-eyed woman knew that Eva’s voice sounded familiar, but she didn’t believe her ears until her eyes shot up and saw what dangled off the blonde’s ankle—a sparkling red anklet. Eva hadn’t worn it the last few times Seeley had seen her, but she wore it today.
Everything hit her like a cascade of dread.
