Chapter 8

I prayed for our plan to succeed.

I prayed for a return to normalcy—an oxymoron in Hollywood terms.

I prayed for my joyful reunion with Alec and our living again under one roof as a couple.

I also prayed for my continued friendship with Jake, and for the wonderfully exciting fringe benefits we enjoyed.

I fell asleep somewhere between the Our Fathers and the Hail Marys.

Next morning, I dressed quickly and ran to the corner. I put two quarters into the slot on the newsstand and pulled out the morning edition. Alcaide, Adrian

Amato, Ann

Ames, Arthur

Anson, Bea

Barton, James

No Anders, HarryWhat the…?

Thinking the names were out of order, I scanned up and down the columns a second time.

Again nothing.
