A Week Passes By So Fast! Traveling to Ferus!

After underlining several points in Sazzy's copy of the contract, we discussed some more before an alarm rang from my personal terminal. Putting aside the contact, the both of us got prepared to head to the AT center.

Getting into the car, Sazzy pulled out her personal terminal. As per my request, as soon as I set the car to auto-drive mode, she showed me the procedures to book a vaccination.

"The moment you walk in front of the vaccination machine, it will automatically scan your facial structures as well as iris. Then it will pull up your vaccination appointment and administer your vaccine."

Showing the kek page of the Headquarters for Intergalactical Travel (HIT), Sazzy showed me how to get to the vaccination page as well as how to schedule your own vaccination.

Then once we were done discussing the vaccination, we moved onto our next topic. Preparation for Ferus.

Pulling out the list Josh sent to me, we both looked at the small amount of items that could be bought at Mors. A mere three out of twenty items.

Parking the car, we first headed to the vaccination center. Sticking my hand into the smiling machine, I pressed the button and felt the cool material enclose my elbow once more.

After a few seconds, I removed my arm and we left the vaccination center. There were some permanent stores in the trading area that sold daily, as well as traveling, necessities. In those stores we managed to purchase our three crucial travel items. A portable cooking station, a multipurpose survival kit and a large water canteen.

When we left the AT center, it was getting a little dark. The moment we went home, I signed the contract and we both went to bed.

The next day, we paid a quick visit to the local police station. Although it was called the local police station, it was technically not very local since their station was floating in the middle of space. To get there, there was a designated area where a spaceship that civilians could use would come down and bring us to the station. There, I handed in the form to the official police terminal machine at the station, where I had to connect my personal terminal to it and transfer the consent form to the machine that way.

With the guidance of one of the police officers that had come to visit us that day, the quiet one who did not say anything, we uploaded the file and then thanked the police officers before we went back to our house to rest for the rest of the day.

Then after one day of rest we had another trip to the vaccination center, including picking up some international ingredients to make food with, as well as a call from Jenny's family saying they were not going to be home for the next couple of weeks.

The last three days were filled with experimenting with the different ingredients and recipes I had collected, with the only success being a mix between red berry paste with the fairy wings, boiled together to form a sort of sweet alternative to fried fairy wings.

And finally, as if in a blink of an eye, the day we had to leave for Ferus arrived. Packing all our stuff, which included a medium sized bag plus several foldable bags stuffed inside that bag, together with what we needed, we parked our car at the warehouse again.

Opening my bag to the security officer that had recently been hired to inspect outgoing passengers, he tipped his hat after a quick look then moved on to the next passenger. Then we entered into an almost empty space bullet and made our way to Ferus.

Since Ferus wasn't too far, a ride there only required around 15 minutes. During that time, we sat at our seats and watched as the green trees were replaced by the black nothingness of space.

"Ferus sure is unpopular. I think there were more people when we were coming back from Aquarius."

[To be fair, there is nothing much to buy from Ferus, and you can't even exit the barrier unless you have a local guide you. The main problem is that most locals don't live at the AT center, and those that do say that they can't guide you since they cannot leave themselves. And most people are scared away by the ferocious predators that rule the planet. The only plus point for the general audience is that it is a popular spot for adventure livestreamers to film 'I spent a day in the most dangerous planet' livestreams.]

Pulling up her Jolt.kek page, Sazzy showed me the top popular livestreams with the keyword 'Ferus'. They were pretty ... formulaic.

'Visiting the most dangerous planet ever! Livestream at the savage planet Ferus!', 'You won't believe I made it out of Ferus!', 'I hope my will doesn't need to be read after this Ferus trip!'. There was even a video with the exact same title Sazzy gave as an example.

"Seems popular."

[Yeah. For content. Not for anything else though, sadly.]

Arriving at Ferus, we were greeted with a lot of greenery. A lot of greenery. There seemed to be ivy like plants on every surface of the building, making it resembled more of an abandoned shopping center than anything else. There was no elevator, instead there was a short flight of stairs. And after descending those stairs there were about 5 shops before the end of the barrier could be seen.

Looking at the time from my personal terminal, we still have around an hour or so left before our meeting time with Josh so we went around the shops to buy our necessities. Odorless bug repellent, tough camouflage shirts and pants, even my shoes had to be changed out.

Entering one of the shops, a short girl who was chewing on a stem saw us and immediately jumped up from her seat.

"Chef! So the next planet you were visiting was Ferus! I'm so lucky to meet you! Can I have an autograph?"

Running over at top speed, the girl pulled out her personal terminal and showed a blank page. Smiling at her, while I signed, I asked where to find certain items from the list.

Keeping her personal terminal, she gladly showed us around the shop and recommended several items she thought would be necessary. Taking one basket wasn't enough, so in the end I had two full baskets at the cashier area when we were done. She even helped me measure the size of the clothes, and offered a 'special discount'.

"It's fine! It's not like anyone here earns much from the stores here anyway! And it's rare to meet any celebrities out here on Ferus, so just take it!"

Thanking her, we exited her shop and went to the next one. Where that scene was repeated again. And again. At. Every. Shop.

Before long, we were standing in front of the lockers, which one shop keeper had kindly told us. International luggage usually had to be stored in lockers since most international items couldn't be brought outside the barrier.

"They smell nice. Too nice for any of the wild animals out there to resist a chance to battle for it. It's safer to keep them here. Your local contact will tell you more when you guys meet so don't worry too much about it."

Opening the locker with my Terminal ID, I placed the bag containing my clothes into it first. I had already changed into the recommended clothing for Ferus in one of the stores. Then, putting some other things I was quite sure wouldn't make the cut, we chilled for 10 minutes. Waiting for Josh to arrive.

"Ferus sure has so many requirements in order to enter. Just this shopping trip alone cost almost 100 UC. How do they not have much money?"

[Well most of the items are a buy once don't really need to buy for a long while kind of item. Like your clothes. And since some of these items aren't limited to Ferus only, but can also be bought at other wild centered planets, business here from international tourists is probably once or twice a month.]

"That sounds ridiculous."

[It may, but that's the truth of the matter. Can't help it]

Sazzy shrugged as she used her eyes to double check the items in the locker.

While conversing with Sazzy, out of the corner of my eye I saw a tall guy enter the barrier while waving at us. On his shoulder he carried a green backpack, and on his head he wore a green cap.

We finally met Josh.

Sazzy : Everything here is so green, I'm starting to feel like all I can see is green.

Alex : It does make me slightly nauseous when you say it like that. I wonder why there aren't many colors in the AT center?

Sazzy : Camouflage? I mean we are wearing green shirts as well as green pants.

Alex : Makes sense. But from what? The predators? Are they really that frightening?

Sazzy : Guess we'll find out!
