Chris had never hesitated to tell anyone he was gay. No, he didn’t have a rainbow bumper sticker on his car and you probably wouldn’t catch him on a pride parade float, but he was honest about who he was. When we were together, he’d kept a picture of us on his desk at work and was quick to tell anyone who asked that I was his boyfriend. I’d loved him for that. So the thought of getting involved with someone like Alex, whose sexual preferences weren’t as clear cut, concerned me a little…a lot, actually.
