I was about to ask Dennis if Alex had settled into his new apartment, but the moment I opened my mouth to speak, I was interrupted by Alex himself. He was tall with a head of wavy brown hair, full, pink lips, and blue eyes. Even though it was after six in the evening, he looked like he’d just crawled out of bed. Maybe he had. His hair was unruly and his clothes were wrinkled but, for him, this disheveled state made him look incredibly sexy. I hadn’t expected him to be so attractive.
“I’m sorry I’m late,” he apologized as he took the empty chair across from mine. I was seated next to my mother, who was seated across from Dennis.
Dennis introduced us.
“So, you’re Scott,” Alex said, offering his hand to me. “I’ve heard a lot about you.”
“I’m sure you have,” I mumbled as we shook. Alex had a strong grip, but soft hands, a contradiction I found unsettling.
He flashed a smile. “It’s nice to finally meet you.”
“Likewise.”
