"Godfather, Faye Mum." Aunt May came downstairs with Maeve, holding up a koala bear plush toy as tall as a child. She laughed brightly, calling out in her childlike voice.
The toy was naturally one that Faye Owen had left behind before going abroad for school. However, Aunt May had packed it away, preserving it with great care. She'd taken Maeve upstairs earlier to pick a toy. There were too many people before, and she didn't want to disturb Maeve.
"Maeve." Faye Owen adored her goddaughter, so seeing her brought a smile to Faye's face. She hurried to take Maeve into her arms, kissing her on the cheek affectionately, "Darling, I haven't seen you for two days. Mum misses you so much."
At first, Maeve used to call her Godmother Faye. But Faye Owen didn't like the formal title, so she insisted on being called Mum by Maeve. As for the added 'Faye', it was to distinguish her from Wendy Quay.
