004 ~ The alpha of the North

"Why me?" Sydney asked, still a bit stiff from the cold. The alpha had taken her back to the cafe after fixing her ankle. He spread a piece of clothing over her body and went through the process of preparing a hot drink for her.

"Why couldn't you look for someone else?"

"It's your fate, blue." He simply replied. "It has always been your fate to go through hell." He dropped the hot steaming drink in front of her. Not wanting to talk anymore, she took the glass and sipped from it.

'This is surprisingly good.' She thought. She raised her head to say something but the alpha was nowhere to be found. Scared, she looked around the shop but couldn't find him. Instead, she found alpha Brook and his men waiting for her outside.

If only she knew how she got rid of them in the first place... Sydney sighed as the cloth fell off her. If it was indeed her fate as the alpha had said, then there was no escaping it.

"Follow us quietly and don't try to do anything." Brook warned but she only folded her hands and rolled her eyes.

"If I had wanted to run, I would have done that a long time ago." She hissed in utter disgust.

Seeing they wanted to cuff her hands, she resisted.

"I'm following you out of my will. Why are you trying to constrain me?" She demanded for an answer with her eyes but they cuffed her anyway.

"We don't know what is up your sleeves." Zane replied.

"How about you come closer and I'll show you? Ughhh! Let go, you freak!" She was escorted to the car and they zoomed off to Brook's pack where the wedding ceremony was taking place.

The hall had already been decorated and a few people sat in anticipation.

"Couldn't you have planned something smaller than this?" She complained but Zane only sighed.

"You ask too many questions." Heavily guarded, Sydney was escorted to her dressing room. While her make up was being done, a lot of questions intrusively ran through her mind. Few days ago, she was living a normal life as a student and as a part time worker. All of sudden, the tables turned and she was getting married to a stranger whose face she had never seen before.

'Maybe I can ask these ladies who this man is.' She thought to herself.

"Excuse me," she started, looking directly at the lady who was fixing her hair through the mirror.

"Please, who is this alpha that I'm getting married to?" She innocently asked but that question caused everybody in the room to go silent, although they kept stealing glances at each other. Sydney could see the terrified looks on their faces, she knew they didn't want to talk about it. Was the alpha that horrible to talk about?

"The alpha of the North." The hairdresser leaned down to whisper it in her ear. Sydney stood up abruptly, turning directly to the lady.

"What?!!" She yelled, almost bringing down the building with her voice. Her eyes glistened with tears upon hearing her words.

"Please, calm down." The lady tried to console her but Sydney wasn't buying into it.

"Don't tell me to calm down!" She pushed the chair aside and walked to the window.

"I'm about to walk into my doom and you're telling me to calm down. Does that sound reasonable to you? You know what? I'm out of here." Before anybody could stop her, she jumped down the window. The hairdresser alerted the guards and they went in pursuit of her.

Satisfied that she could pull off that jump without ripping the gown, she opted to move forward with her second escape plan but was confronted by Zane.

"Where are you going?" He arched an eyebrow, waiting for a reasonable answer.

"Get back inside. Don't prolong things any more further." He commanded and she heeded after grumbling in discontent. Zane escorted her back to the dressing room where every finishing touches on her was made.

"I will escort you personally to the aisle." He said but Sydney only huffed and walked past him. Approaching the isle, she heard the priest calling out the groom. She could hear the gasps that echoed from where she stood.

There was a myth that the alpha of the north has two huge horns with midnight black eyes. People said he was the devil himself. Was that why he didn't show his face when he rescued her? How was she going to cope with such appearance? It would be like the children's fairytale, beauty and the beast.

She inhaled deeply as she heard the priest call for the bride.

"Your father didn't want to be here, so I will escort you." She heard alpha Brook from behind her.

Deep down, she was hoping to see her sister at least. Her father didn't bother her. She was about to ask a question but the alpha shushed her. Intertwining arms, the duo approached the beginning of the isle. A flower was handed over to her by a little girl, the alpha's youngest daughter.

"Thank you," Sydney mouthed with a small smile. The entrance song began to play and Brook pulled her along.

"Why is he in human form?" She questioned as she saw the alpha's back. He looked completely normal.

"I bet his face is hella ugly." She insulted inwardly but her mouth dropped when the alpha turned to see his bride walking toward him. Her heart skipped a beat the moment he smiled at her.

She stopped, staring transfixed at the groom. He was the definition of a demigod. It was Brook that tugged her out of her fantasy world by nudging her politely. Catching herself drooling helplessly over the handsome alpha, she closed her mouth and frowned her face. In as much as he was handsome, he was also a deadly man. He literally called himself 'death' and 'hell'.

The moment she stopped in front of the alpha, their eyes locked on each other. Although Sydney wanted to look away, she couldn't. She thought he would disappear again if she ever looked away.

'Wait... Why does that bother me? He can disappear for all I care.' She mumbled inwardly.

"Do you, alpha Ryder Smith of the North, take miss Sydney Cross of the South, to be your lawfully wedded wife. To love and to cherish. For better, for worse. In sickness and in health... Until death do you apart?"

Sydney gulped down nothing. This was it. She wished he would just say no and end her nightmare. As though the alpha was reading her mind, he smiled sweetly and muttered "Yes."

Sydney wished the ground would just open and swallow her whole. The question was asked back to her. Her urge to say no was stronger than ever but she found herself saying yes, making the alpha smile satisfactorily. She wanted to object but he smashed his lips on hers, locking her in a shallow kiss. He held her hand too so she wouldn't think of hitting him.

After the marital rights had been fulfilled, the alpha left with his bride and his beta. Sydney held a scowl all through the journey because the alpha didn't say anything to her all through the ride.

She had no right to complain about his silence because she didn't want him in the first place.

As soon as they both stepped out of the car, a young beautiful lady ran out and threw her arms around the alpha. Her raven black hair danced with the cold wind as she got comfortable on his body. Even though Sydney liked how close they were and wished she had someone like that, something didn't sit well with the way the lady touched her newly wedded husband.

"I missed you so much." She whined with pleading eyes before leaning in to kiss him but the alpha stylish dodged it with a scowl.

"Good to see you too, Clara."

Once again, Sydney's mouth dropped.

"Wait... You have a mistress already?!"
