I held Bethany's hand and we walked away as Hugo waves at her.
"Stop treating me like a toddler, Clark, I'm a grown up and capable of taking good care of myself," she grumbled.
"Oh, really now?"I asked in disbelief of the person who was talking to me at that time.
"Yes!" she claimed, slightly raising her voice.
"You know very well that I hate arguing with you,so I will be quite. Babe, I just don't want to lose. I'm afraid of the danger you are facing by interacting with those ruthless humans."
"Then you have nothing to be worried.I am playing my cards carefully. Sorry for raising my voice at you."
"It's nothing. Let's go and secure ourselves seats there before the place is occupied."
" Sure."
Bethany's POV;
As,I ambled, I craned my neck from side to side,in order to spot,my mom,who despite of the Salvadors being my parents'murderers, I highly doubted she was involved in that.
Just then, I felt a cold liquid flow down my core.
I stood looking at him,Rex,in utter dismay.
"I'm so sorry miss. Sorry, I help you fix this mess," he stammered.
I also knew he was a good person, unlike his sicko type of a father.
As I recalled our past memories together,I felt like hugging and spilling the beans to him.
"No, it's fine. "
"I must fix this. I'm the one who spilt the drink on your frock so it's only right if I help you. Come on this way."
He led the way, and I followed suit leaving Clark behind.
"Where are you taking me sir?" I inquired.
"To my cousin, Felicity. She will help you get something stunning to put on. She has a lot that could fit you, including Lesley's,"on mentioning the name Lesley,he stood still for sometime, gasped and we went on.
"Are you okay sir?"
"Yeah,of course. By the way, you should quit addressing me as sir; it makes me feel old," he chuckled.
"My name is Rex," he told me though I was already aware of that.
"Okay, nice to know you Rex. I'm Violet," I said stretching my arm for a handshake with him, which he gladly accepted.
We smiled at each other and joined an elegant lady, who blatantly was Felicity, seated on a puce chaise lounge.
"Felicity, sorry to disturb you but I badly, I mean this lady is badly in need of your help," Rex said hosarsely, well aware of Felicity's attitude.
Felicity stood on her feet and gave me a dirty look. It really was her,so cold and had a terrible attitude.
I could vividly remember the countless times we fought out of nothing. She would just come and start a pointless argument which would in turn cause fights in the house.
What a crazy fellow she was!
She had become so beautiful in the last few months though I was still seeing her in magazines as she advertised the beauty products she sold.
She put on a chic long red dress but with a long slit on her left leg, from her thigh, all the way down.
The dress also exposed her cleavage and was sleeveless.
"Who is this woman?" she grumbled.
I was like, jerk! Do I look like a woman to you!!!
"Hey,do you mind introducing yourself?"she added, rolling her grey eyes.
"She is Vi..."
"Baby boy, I said she, not you. Let her do it herself, after all, she has her own mouth, doesn't she?"
"Pardon her please," whispered Rex.
"I'm waiting. I don't have all the time in the world," she added.
"Miss,if you don't want to help me,you better say it than be rude. I will get going now. I don't wanna waste more of your time. Rex, thankyou for your effort though. Bye,"I vocalized and took my way out.
Despite that,Rex still followed me behind, making Felicity go wild back there.
" So this is yet another Lesley!" I heard her roar.
" Violet, Violet, please wait,"pleaded Rex, catching up with me.
" Look, I'm so sorry for my cousin's behavior towards you. Don't mind her, that's how she really is after all.''
"So you knew this would happen and still took me to her? What the f*ck!"
"I'm so sorry. Are you going back to the party?"
"No, I need some fresh air. I'm going outside."
"Can I accompany you if you don't mind?"
"Okay but please teach that cousin of yours some manners or else she is gonna get it rough some day."
" She is just a spoilt brat." Rex smirked.
We sauntered outside to the pancy, which I was dying to go to again. It's where I would go and breath some fresh air, when I felt worn out.
We then sat at a bench that had been put up there.
I could notice Rex staring at me non-stop,that I wondered if he had known me already.
"Why are you staring at me? Is something wrong?" I queried to clear my doubts.
"No, I am sorry for that. I just noticed you resemble Lesley a lot."
At once, I felt a cold chill run down my spinal cord.
"Oh, who is Lesley?" I stammered.
"My cousin," as soon as he said that, tears welled up in his eyes. "She went missing," he continued.
I could see the pain of losing Lesley, who was at that time beside him,in his eyes.
"I'm so sorry for that. Please calm down," I tried comforting him.
"It's fine. I still believe she is out there somewhere and will hopefully come back someday,"he mumbled wiping his tears away.
" Don't worry."
I cuddled him in my arms, seeing how much he was suffering.
Out of the blue, came Clark, whose fury was clearly portrayed on his face.
Without further ado,I let go of Rex and stood on my feet.
" Reece,"I mumbled.
" We should get going right now Violet,"he declared.
" No Violet, you can't leave right now,"grumbled Rex.
" But Rex,who will accompany me home if my brother leaves?"
" I will do that. Just please don't leave yet. I need you by my side,"pleaded Rex.
" Are you coming?"asked Clark, giving Rex a dirty look.
" No, just go,"I mumbled hoarsely.
Clark glared at me for some time, held his fists and walked away.
" Seems he is in the huff."
" Yes Rex. I will talk to him when I get home."
" You must be hungry. How about we go and grab a bite?"
" Sure thing."
" Good. My stomach is already grumbling."
We went to the cafeteria, where we had a scrummious meal together to our fill.
I don't know why but being around Rex made me feel so comfortable but what lingered in my mind was the reason as to why I had not seen my mom, Daphne, yet.
I had the urge to ask but didn't know how I would put it.
I then thought of Clark and made up my mind to go back home as I knew he was getting worried already.
"It was nice spending time with you Rex but I think I should get going now."
"What! Oh,no! Could you please spend the night here? Further more,it's too late already. Please V,"he begged.
I was almost declining his offer when I thought of the golden opportunity in front of me, which I was letting slip away.
" Okay fine. I will spend the night here."
There and then,Rex wrapped his arms around my slender body like a baby.
" Thanks V."
I hugged him back and we went inside, where all and sundry had assembled at the living room.
All the guests had already left in exception of me.
Seeing all of them made my blood boil that I wished I had left with Clark.
"Rex," uttered Mrs. Salvador.
I wished I could take a knife and stab her to death already.
"Who is that beautiful lady with you?" she queried.
"Mom, that is Mrs. Charves, one of our investors who just joined the company recently.
" Oh, I see. Nice to meet you Mrs. Charves and welcome to The Flaming Dragon." She smirked.
" The pleasure is all mine Mrs. Salvador." I put on a fake smile to hide the rage in me.
Yes,all the Salvadors were there but still, mom Daphne was no where to be seen.
"Guys, I'm off to bed,' declared Bruce, the man I spent my whole life trying to please as my dad.
Not long after, Felicity and Hugo, who winked at me plodded upstairs.
Lastly,Mrs. Salvador, trudged upstairs too, after hugging Rex good night.
"Violet, I am sure you must be deadbeat. Come on,I will lead you to the guest room,"said Rex holding my left wrist.
We smiled at each other and plodded up the spiral flight of stairs, to the chamber which was once mine.
"Since I don't think the guest room has been prepared and I wouldn't want to keep you waiting, sleep in Lesley's chamber. I hope you don't mind."
"No,why would I?"
"Good then. So, have a good night dear. Dream with your new chum."
" Have a good night too."
" Okay,if you need anything, don't hesitate to reach out me. My room is opposite this one."
" Okay, thankyou."
Rex waved at me,left and shut the door behind him.
I was once again back to the place I considered home once upon a time.
