Ch 7 - A Busy Day

Albion was sitting down on a small bed as he tried to decipher the book his father gave him. But it was almost impossible to do that. There were so many words in the book he had never seen before. And the different symbols. He had absolutely no clue what those could have meant.

Lily: Does my baby boy need help?

Lily appeared lying on the bed Albion was sitting on. Gently playing with his hair as she looked at the book he had.

Albion: {I feel like that's cheating though. I can read some of it. Like this here says "Nature" and this here says "person" and then a bit further on "wound". But there's a lot I can't read and it doesn't make any sense.}

Lily: Hmmmm. Let me give you a little hint then. The word before Nature is this world's version of a colon and Affinity. And if you were to use this spell you would be really good at it.

Albion looked back at Lily and back at the book.

Albion: {Affinity: Nature. And I would be good at it. Does she mean I have an affinity with Nature? No, I feel like that's another hint. What else am I good at though? It's magic so is it because I have a lot of mana? No that would make me good at every spell. It's something about me that makes me good at this one.}

Suddenly the doors opened as Albion turned around. He looked and it was an old lady. She looked like she was having trouble walking even using her cane. Her hair was grey and curly. She had moles and wrinkles covering her body. Wearing a thick purple gown.

Alekia: Ah Mrs Winchester. Right on time. I was just about to go and see if you're ok.

Alekia went over to Mrs Winchester to help her walk over to a seat.

Mrs Winchester: You're a sweet boy. There's no need to worry about me. My husband thinks I'm more #### than usual. Hoho.

Mrs Winchester gave a small laugh as she sat down on the chair. Slightly nudging away Alekias hand so she could sit down by herself.

Alekia: I think I'm too old for you to be calling me sweet boy. And I bet your husband is happy about that.

Mrs Winchester: I nearly forgot. Blessed with youth but older than me.

Albion: You're older than her!

Both looked at Albion as he quickly covered his mouth in surprise. He didn't mean to say that so loud. He didn't mean to say that out loud.

Mrs Winchester: Ah. This must be your son.

Alekia: That's my son. Believe it or not, he's only 6 months old and he can already speak, and read and I've seen him, he's close to walking.

Mrs Winchester: That boys 6 months old? That's almost scary how fast he's developed.

Alekia looked over to Albion as he waved him over.

Alekia: Come and watch Albion. I need to perform the spell you're trying to learn.

Albion took no time making his brilliant escape off the bed. Pushing the sheets low to the floor as he held on and slowly slid off the bed. As he speedily crawled over to his father Mrs Winchester watched in amazement. Crawling right next to his father and holding himself on his two legs, holding on to his father's leg.

Alekia: Ok. So Ms Winchester is 94 and she comes in here every week to get her regular treatment. Her treatment which I can't tell you is a certain magic I cast to help her stay well.

Albion: Is it related to the affinity of Nature?

Both Alekia and Mrs Winchester looked down at Albion in surprise.

Alekia: *Ahem* Yes it is. Do you know anything else?

Albion: I know it has something to do with wounds.

Alekia: Well not entirely. You see Mrs Winchester doesn't have any wounds or previous scarring. But she still comes in because studies I've done show it significantly improves someone's life span. Let me show you.

Alekia held out his hand as a green magic circle with the same circle and symbols appeared. It glowed a green light over Mrs Winchesters' entire body and then faded.

Mrs Winchester: That felt nice. I can walk myself out. You help your son for a bit.

Mrs Winchester pushed on her cane as she stood up. Slowly walking to the door and out.

Alekia: So is there anything you want to ask?

Albion: How old are you?

Alekia: *Cough Cough* I meant related to the spell. But… I'm… 113.

Albion: Why do you… look you?

Alekia: Do you have any questions about the spell?

Albion gave a quick nod.

Alekia: *Sigh* Well I and your mother are part elf. They naturally live a lot longer. And since I'm part dragon and spirit I may live even longer than that. You may live as long as an elf. Or as long as a dragon or spirit. We don't really know. Soooo… any questions about the actual spell?

Albion took a minute to think.

Albion: Did it heal her?

Alekia: Nope. The spell doesn't heal.

Albion: Did it make her stronger?

Alekia: Not even close to the spell.

Albion: Did it… help her internally?

Alekia smiled as he held Albion in his arms.

Alekia: That is something the spell helps with.

Albion: Hmmmm. What has the affinity got to do with it?

Alekia: Good question. Well, Nature is the natural affinity close to life and as it says nature. I have an affinity for it and usually use it in my work. But there's one other affinity you can use this spell with. Light.

Albion: Light?

Alekia: Light, Holy. It's an element that's meant to be pure.

Albion: Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Do you use it when you have a wound?

Alekia: Yes. Before you heal the wound.

Albion: {Wait. Then that means… the spell is used to clean wounds. But how does it help internally?} I think…

Suddenly many people barged through the doors. All wearing some sort of armour. They all had blood on them but others were groaning in pain.

Alekia quickly placed Albion down as he rushed over.

Alekia: What happened?!

???: We're out for our regular goblin hunt… then we saw some unusual activity being done by the goblins. So we went over to ##########. But these…

???: THEY WERE INFECTED WITH DEMONIC MANA!

???: Luckily I was hunting kobolts that were close to the area so my group supported them to kill the demonic monsters. But some of us got cut and… it's only spreading more.

Alekia: MARCUS QUICK! HELP ME PLACE THEM ALL ON A BED AND THEN GET SOME HOLY WATER!

Everything in the clinic suddenly became fast-paced. Alekia quickly helped everyone get to a bed. Taking off their armour and laying them down. Albion crawled to the bed he was previously on dodging any stray feet dramatically. Looking at a very muscular man on his bed.

Albion: Errmmm. Excuse me.

The large man looked down at Albion.

???: #### the ####. Who are you, kid?

Albion: You're sitting on my book.

The man put his under himself and grabbed the book.

???: Oh. Sorry kid.

The man handed Albion the book as he sat down to read it again. The man looked over at Albion curious.

Albion: {So if it cleans and helps internally… it's antibacterial. But that wouldn't help someone live to their nineties. So it's also antiviral and anti-fungal. It basically just purifies the entire body of diseases and impurities. But…}

Lily: Ding ding ding. You got it!

Albion: {I got it?}

Lily: It's a spell called purify. While most of the book explains what bacteria, viruses and fungi it can purify and what specifically happens to them when they're purified. The basis of the spell is to purge foreign bodies. Though this spell has been altered by your father to purify not only foreign bodies but also those that cause negative impacts on the body itself, even if they originated from the body.

Albion: {Woah! So cool! So could I…}

Alekia: DAMN IT! WE'VE RUN OUT OF HOLY WATER!

Marcus: We haven't got a supply until another week.

Alekia: This is why I hate demonic creatures! I… I can't help you! I can purify the demonic energy but there's dark mana mixed in with it! I… I can't…

???: Hey Alekia. It's fine. It's… it's just a leg. A-Amputate it if you need to.

Lily: Do you want to help?

Albion: {I can help?!}

Lily: Yeah. I said you would be really good at this. While you have Nature as a strong affinity you also have Pure Mana. So it will purify the dark mana anyway like light magic would.

Albion: {But I don't understand the symbols yet.}

Lily: You only need that for an in-depth understanding of the magic and to advance your knowledge like your father. But you remember the entire magic circle even if you don't understand it. While it will take a tiny bit more mana to do you have more than enough to use chantless magic.

Albion widened his eyes as he scurried along the floor. The men on the beds saw and looked at the kid confused. Albion saw his dad with a large saw and Marcus holding out his hand.

Albion: WAIT!!

Albion shouted with his tiny lungs. Alekia and Marcus looked at Albion and he was at his father's feet.

Alekia: Marcus can you please cover his eyes? I need you but I don't want him…

Albion: Plwease let me try. {Why did it come out like that?!}

Alekia: You… want to try?

Albion: I… I know the magic. Please let me try and help. I beg you, Dad.

Alekia looked at Albion as he had tears in his eyes.

Alekia: But the magic doesn't…

Albion: Please!

Albion was genuinely crying as he held onto his dad's leg. It wasn't just the sadness of this man losing his leg that went through his mind.

Alekia: {He'll be more sad when it doesn't work. But this would be a good opportunity to show him that there are some things you just can't solve.} Ok.

Alekia carried Albion as he saw the ripped trouser leg. A small cut but goey purple pus coming from it. Purple veins spreading from the wound.

Albion held out both of his hands.

Lily: Now just feel the power in your heart and visualise the purify magic circle.

Albion closed his eyes as his heart began to beat faster and faster. A small glowing light from his hands formed the magic circle. The glow surrounding the wound on the man's leg. Alekia was astounded that his son could already use magic at such a young age. But…

But he was even more astonished when the purple started to fade. He felt both the demonic and dark magic fading.

But then the green light got bigger and brighter. Larger and larger until the light embraced the whole building. Shining outside the windows. The magic continued to expand until it took up a large portion of the village.

The light faded as the magic circle disappeared. Albion looked down at the wound and the purple pus and veins were gone.

Albion: Yay… I… did it.

Albion fell backwards onto his father's chest as he passed out. Falling asleep from exhaustion.

Everyone looked at Alekia and Albion. Everyone was confused. Especially Alekia.

???: What the fuck.
