I turned to see whose hand was that.

It was Francine's.

I let out a deep sigh.

"Are you all right?" he asked me.

I nodded as a fake smile tried to paint my lips. "Yes, yes, I'm fine." Don't worry.

"Are you sure?"

I nodded again. "Yeah."

"Come on, let's go up."

"Okay."

I didn't follow Francine uphill. When I looked back out the window where I had seen the shadow, it was no longer there.

I know I'm not mimicking.

I knew what I saw was true.

My eyes won't betray me, right?

I'm sure that I saw a shadow. A silhouette. I saw it with my own two eyes, standing near the window.

When Francine called me again to continue to the room we were going to, I just woke up. I erased from my mind what I had seen. I like to think that my own imagination is playing with me again. But for a few seconds, I stared at that shadow and knew in myself that it was not the product of a deceptive imagination. It was impossible because I felt a presence.

I could feel the stare that shadow was throwing at me or whoever owned that shadow.

I know.

I saw.

I felt it.

But I also knew in myself that it could affect my mental and emotional health, so I immediately dismissed the thought.

I continued walking until we reached the end of the hallway where the open and vacant room was.

The floor was dirty and some other broken things were strewn about, but the bed could have been made.

No more shoes.

But at least we have something where we can lie down to spend the night.

Chren cleaned up after Macey. Camilla lay down next to it and let out a deep and long sigh.

I couldn't help but grin for a moment when he accidentally moved his wounded arm.

The bed was queen-sized.

But not enough to accommodate the seven of us.

Fortunately, Francine found a broom and mop earlier as we drove around to make sure no wild animals could enter.

I volunteered to sweep the floor, but Lily immediately stopped me. She took the broom and cleaned the dusty floor. After she did that, Francine mopped again.

When the floor was clean, Chren looked for a few pieces of plywood to use as a layer on the cold floor.

They are worn out, but they can still be useful somehow.

The bed is in the middle. Chren and Lily lay in both spaces.

We had rummaged through the pile of belongings on the first floor and found some more useful curtains.

We can use that as bedding and blankets.

"Camilla and Macey will stay on the bed." Chren announced.

We nodded at once.

"Miss Aya, you're just in bed too." You just came back from the hospital. " I narrowed my eyes at Lily.

I knew he was going to force me to lie down on the bed, so I didn't argue with him anymore.

"Okay."

"Abi, Francine, and I are on the left side. Chren has slept on the right side. So, it won't be awkward and inappropriate, right?" Lily asked.

Chren agreed, nodding his head twice. "Yes," I'm fine here on the right side alone. "

When we agreed on the arrangement, we immediately closed the bedroom door.

Call us paranoid, but we put heavy chairs on the door and window, as well as the table where some things were stored.
