Zombie Spy

"We better find that book quick", Aaron said looking around.

"Where do we even begin?", Anqa said with a brief sigh.

At the far end of the room, they noticed the shelf rattling. They ran towards the shelf and there stood a brown box shaking furiously like something was trapped inside. Aaron reached out and slowly opened the box. The rattling ceased immediately and there lay the scary black book with bizarre markings....

Aaron picked up the book feeling the front cover with his palm as he stared at it. He thought it was somehow beautiful regardless of it's scary look.

"Hey snap out of it. We've got to get out of here", Anqa said holding his shoulder.

"Oh yh let's go", Aaron replied holding the book close to his chest. They ran to the door and Aaron reached out to open the door...

*BAM! BAM!! BAM* Came from the room where Maurice was in. Then smoke crept in from under the door.

"Teargas!?" Aaron muttered stepping away from the door. The door opened halfway. They both braced themselves wondering who it might be. Maurice just walked in slowly, not affected by the gas at all.

"Hey guys? I think I went overboard with knocking down stuff from the shelves I'm a cat, I couldn't help it", she said giggling mischievously,"I think I teargased the room. You might need those gas masks up by the wall", she added still laughing. They both ran to the wall by the left where the gas masks were hung and put it on.

"I should have named her cray cray yunno", Aaron teased as they left the room. Everyone was blind and wheezing, coughing. They breezed through the station towards the side door they came in from. As they were almost out, Aaron saw Paul the British investigator, run into the station from the front door with some other cops all on gas masks. Paul saw him and stood there watching him. Maybe he thought he looked familiar but couldn't see his face since he had a mask on. Maybe he recognized his blue eyes. Aaron didn't care as he teased him with a salute then ran out the door into the alley. Anqa and Maurice were almost at the car as he ran after them.

They got in the car and took there masks off.

"That was fun ey?", Aaron said as he pushed the start button and his engine revved to a start.

"Hold on! Idris where is Edge?!", Anqa freaked out as she realized Edge was not lying there.

"Oh my! He was right here just now. I just decided to take a little nap. I wasn't expecting him to leave the car, he was unconscious!!", Idris freaked out too.

"Everyone Calm down, he couldn't have gone far with his wound. Maybe he went to take a piss", Aaron suggested, turning off his engine trying to calm Anqa down.

"Isn't that him? What's he doing?", Maurice said looking out the window. He was standing shaggly over a sewer manhole cover just staring at it. Then the car started trembling. More like the ground beneath the car.

Anqa bolted from the car towards Edge who was still standing there. Aaron on the other hand just picked up the codex from where Maurice sat and opened it. The pages flipped over on its own and stopped at a picture of the giant centipede monster.

"The Ōmukade", Aaron muttered staring at the monster.

"What the... Anqa!!! Get out of there!!!", He called out immediately after reading some lines from the page. He got out of the car running towards where Anqa stood shaking Edge who seems to be in some kind of trance.

"Anqa!! He's a zombie!!! A zombie spy!!!", Aaron screamed still running towards them.

"Are you stupid?! Really? Zombie sp...", Before she could finish, the ground below their fit started crumbling. She dived out of the way holding onto Edge and they fell to the side.

Then came that deafening shriek.

"It's here", Aaron muttered stopping on his tracks. The lid covering the sewer flew open with the ground as rocks shot out in all directions. The centipede monster broke through the ground with a resounding shriek. It seemed to have been tracking them through the sewers. The officers across the road was mobilized immediately as they started shooting the giant centipede while some rushed back into the station to call back up or to get heavier weapons. Pedestrians took to their heels and cars made u turns while some just abandoned their cars and ran.

"Over here Anqa!!!", Aaron called out weaving at Anqa who was still on the floor. She snapped out of it and lifted Edge with all her strength and started running towards the car.

The centipede got angrier, half of it still buried under the rubbles of the sewer but the other half that was exposed was still super long.

'how long is this motherfucker?', Aaron wondered as he helped Anqa with carrying Edge towards the car.

It wiggled a bit then created a space in the rubbles. From there, what seemed like mutated humans started crawling out from the sewer like millions of spider nits that just broke. They were growling furiously. They scattered across the street like hungry aggressive monsters.

"Oh my God. Zombies?", Aaron muttered dropping Edge's legs slowly on the ground.

The policemen started shooting them down. It was a warzone. They were fast and strong, tearing through civilians and some of the officers who they could get their hands on.

"We need to get to the car dufus!!!", Anqa shouted at him. He bent to pick his legs up but Edge started wiggling, he was turning.

"Oh no no no no", Anqa muttered holding him tight.

"You've got to let him go!! We need to get to the car and figure out if this can still be reversed. We need to go now or risk putting him down ourselves", Aaron said pulling her away from Edge. She didn't want to let go but she knew he was right. She dropped him slowly on the ground and ran back to the car with Aaron.

They got in and locked the doors. Aaron started the car and drove it to an alleyway near the station.

"According to this, The Ōmukade is a giant man-eating centipede that lives in the mountains of Middleton. While it eats humans, the Ōmukade has a weakness to human saliva. That's it's only known weakness. It also preys on great serpents and dragons. It can also control it's prey by injecting it's toxic venoms into them. It seemed to have tracked us here through Edge. I think that's what you saw Ron, before you ran out to stop Anqa. They can and will be cured when and if the Ōmukade is put down which has rarely happened since time began so...", Maurice briefed them since she was going through the codex the whole time.

"So we just have to put the monster down with weapons coated with saliva ey? That's convenient", he scoffed,"Hey, maybe this is a good time to practice these super powers ey Maurice?", Aaron suggested looking at Maurice who looked back him then sighed.

"I guess we've got enough time to go through the basics while the police has it distracted. I think that's our only hope now. What do you say Idris?", Maurice asked looking at Idris who sat with Anqa at the back seat.

"*Sigh* what a drag. Alright whatever you say", Idris replied indifferent...
